Karsten Koch - Astaris
มุมมอง 10K12 ปีที่แล้ว
Karsten Koch's Astaris from 1997 played back with IMAGO Orpheus 1.0 by Lutz Röder. I hope this sounds the way Karsten meant it! Astaris is, in my opinion, the most beautiful piece of tracked music! IMAGO Orpheus 1.0 is running on DOSbox 0.74. Output device Sound Blaster 16, mixing rate 44.1 kHz.

The bad quality of the 'scope video is either because of bad grounding or the laptop which was used to output the sound has bad DAC. I suspect both.
hi, a link to download the: imago wave? thanks
Anyone know how to get this working and playing right? I'm using it on AWE64 and while playing Astaris I get some junk sounds not anywhere close to this music. Aryx plays fine though.
Is it an AWE64 Value? You most likely have not enough sample RAM. You'll either need an AWE64 Gold, or the SIMMCONN expansion to add more RAM to the card. I had the same problem on my AWE64 Value before upgrading it.
@@sagamusix Yep! Seems like you nailed it. It's CT4520 (CT4500 with color audio jacks, later re-branded as AWE64 Value)

Wow this a song I would like to listen to everyday :) btw I’m a bit interested in this tracker. Is there any free download to download this tracker?
You can download it from here: ftp://ftp.modland.com/pub/software/trackers/DOS/IMAGO%20Orpheus%20Music%20Editor/
epatto thx 🙏 by the way do I have to run the tracker in DosBox?
@@D322MWUNITED Yes, it is a DOS program.
epatto thank you, before I end the conversation. What files does this tracker accept?
@@D322MWUNITED I have not used it in years, it uses its own proprietary IMF format. It might support others, such as MOD or XM but I'm not sure.
Is this OPL3 sound?
No, it's digital sample based.
I have a Tektronix TDS210 Two Channel Oscilloscope: www.ebay.com/itm/322691164641
This guy is my fucking hero.
awesoe tract ! this is kasten koch !!!!!
I like how musicians make them music so if player cannot hold thad many channels, the music sound kind of alright
I’ve alrighty had the experience with this tracker for DosBox. It’s true that all of the samples won’t hold a lot due to loading reasons. Very important! Always increase your cpu for DosBox never lower or else it will lag and glitch out.
Awesome track!
ghost in the machine!!¬
Agreed!
awesome track
5:40 - Matrix? ))
of course, and the end is hilarious
Thanks! See my earlier comment regarding source code.
Awesome! I want some source code haha
@tappaja2 Laatuviihdettä, kuomaseni.
@AnoPeace I don't think I have the source anymore. But it's really simple, make a new GD image. Calculate energy field, render on to GD image. Save GD to file, increment iterator and start over again. To know how metaballs work, google for metaballs and then pick "Ryan's guide to metaballs".
Järkyttävää on tämä, ei olisi kekkosen aikana tällaista katseltu!
Ok boomer
Best Demo ever!
@DifferentKev Thanks!
Nice Job!
super pro man
Correct, it won Assembly 2003 Combined Demo competition.
that was a cool demo.. a winner demo .. I remember :)
lisajouss!!!! jaja
I was going to say it looks like your computer's sound hardware is to blame. I ran it from a powerbook at the full 48khz/24bit and it looks dead on like the original except that my scope is not so good. If I run it at 32khz/16bit with the volume low it looks like this video. The quality difference between even 44.1khz and 48khz is noticeable. I have some 96khz/24bit equipment here; I'd like to know if the original demo is available in an even higher quality format...
The sounds was played from a cheap Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook... I wasn't expecting any wonders but it was actually worse than I expected. It was fun looking at the noise from the audio out while moving f.e. the mouse... everything on the machine seems to affect the audio output. What crappy DAC they put in those...
Yeah, bad grounding ruined it. Also the digital oscilloscope is somehow unable to keep the tracking stable.
Looks buggy but rules anyway :-)
The best Volkswagen ad. Ever.
