The Spooky Men's Chorale sing Ukranian Folk song, Plyve Kacha
มุมมอง 18K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a Ukranian folk song which became widely associated with mourning the massacre at Maidan in the Crimea in 2014. It speaks of a duckling but also asks where a mother will bury her son if he dies in a faraway land. We had 10 minutes to record this song just before a gig in Kelvin NSW, near Gunnedah, and a horse came to listen. The source of our arrangement of the song is here: th-cam.com/...
THE CIRCLE OF FIFTHS. why it is....and how to use it.

This video explains some of things other videos don't about the circle of fifths: where it came from, and in particular, how it can be used in functional harmony. Other links I found useful: 12 tone's video, which explains the key signature side of things: th-cam.com/video/LU4K0fa6oj4/w-d-xo.html Rick Beato, who as usual is good: th-cam.com/video/pSwp94J6dLc/w-d-xo.html and a pastiche of exampl...
rhythm 2: rhythmic DNA
มุมมอง 3423 ปีที่แล้ว
building on the previous video, we look at how we can build rhythmic "DNA" from little bits of rhythmic material...and make patterns which serve to define the rhythmic essence of a song, or a feel. this is a live video from the zoom sessions of massive singlet www.massivesinglet.com
RHYTHM ONE: the three elements of rhythm
มุมมอง 9783 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, we get to see how rhythm works: how everything comes from walking, and how we thus subdivide and aggregate this lived bodily time to create every rhythm you've ever heard.
MUSIC THEORY 1: "home" - the beginning of all musical knowledge.
มุมมอง 2.6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I'll talk about, and show, how musical sensibilty arises primarily from a sense of something called "Home"....which is somewhat akin to knowing which direction you are walking in, and where north is. The sense of "Home" is the beginning of all musical knowledge. We'll talk about how this works, with lots of musical examples. Singlet Theory is a weekly one hour zoom session (on Mo...

Spooky men attempt miming to their own song (The Club Song)

We can't all sing together. Singing on zoom is a tragic, ridiculous fiasco. What else are we going to do?

A song that never would have been written if there was not a poetry debate at Cygnet Folk Festival on this exact subject...that's Naomi Edwards (aka Dolly Putin) as MC and JACK on ukelele and vocals....video by Suzy Manigian, thank you

see description!
Spookiness at its very best ! Bravo !!!
Amazing and hauntingly beautiful. x
What are the lyrics? Important to know what it is about.
Listed in the poster's intro!
Beautiful and powerful
Wow that was just beautiful, thank you for sharing it x
Beautiful! Had me in tears! 💔
You should try hej Sokoly. It’s about a young Ukrainian Cossack , finding his love a bidding her farewell until he is back. A bit more hope filled and one EVERY Ukrainian will love plus there is always Chechnya pamyat. Love you Stevie boy but sometimes you are drawn to melancholic tunes and, please believe me on this, Ukrainian, Polish and the Slavs, do tend to sing of better times, especially when darkness falls. A good bottle of Wodka helps 👍🏻🤣
Good work, dear Spookies. We must all do what we can, according to our talents and resources.
very lovely
Thank you Spookies; wonderful.x
Lovely and what a range you have, thanks
Very beautiful, tears
sublime as always, thank you Spooky Men
