@@the_queen_redeemed It’s not a certain time. To become an Officer as long as you meet all the requirements you just put in a packet and wait for approval rather you’re already in or a civilian trying to join. In my case I was a veteran that rejoined.

@angelastarr1527 ohhhh okok I leave for basic soon . And was interested in becoming a warrant officer or drill sergeant when that time comes .

@ After you complete all your training make sure you fit the requirements for whichever route you choose then put in your packet once you get to your unit or duty station.

@@EdwardAMH Thank you so much 😊 If you go active duty then you will have to compete in OCS for your desired branch. HOWEVER… infantry is the branch not many volunteer for so the few that I’ve seen who have chosen that branch got what they wanted. Reservist like myself did not have to compete bc we already have a branch secured from the start of MEPS. I’am a QM and whatever branch your placed in is what you will be doing. HOWEVER… a fresh 2nd lieutenant will be over seeing a platoon as platoon leader. But for infantry it may be different not sure how that works.

@@_Mercy101 For Reserves you already have your MOS selected by the time you get to MEPS. For Active in OCS you have to compete for it with something called a MOL and around the last few weeks you will know what your MOS is. Some people put in a packet to get their desired MOS.

@@christopherstephenson06 The living conditions suck in the field to be completely honest and it’s even worst if the weather is bad. I remember times sleeping in the heavy rain 🌧️ and extreme cold 🥶 and when it’s really hot 🥵 it’s uncomfortable as well bc you can’t shower for days only bird baths. Yes we put up our tents and take them down everyday. There were also times we didn’t sleep in tents just sleeping bags.

Are prior service allowed to bring their own personal pop up tent, field gear, or other personal items to the field? Just thinking of ways to be comfortable.

@ When I was there no one could do that bc we all had to use the issued army items. When you’re in the barracks you can use your personal items.
