I think, the landslide followed an origin trench.
Yes, I think so too. I just checked on the geological map. The Illgraben is pretty close to a border between sedimentary and metamorph rocks. But the eroded material seems to be sedimentary.

Well done Andreas! You are definitely living up to your own words - "filmmaker & adventurer". Who would have thought that FPV drone flying would lead to hanging by a line off the top of a drop like that? Anyway, that's a very nice video accompanied with great story telling. I had just noticed you had published a new video and started watching immediately. I was enjoying it a lot but then almost fell off my chair when my name popped up! That's the first time I have been "mentioned in dispatches". And now you almost have more Avata drones than you know what to do with! Pity you couldn't rescue the Air 2 also - that would have been the icing on the cake. :-)
Thank you so much Clive! Yeah it definitively was an adventure. Looking backwards to it, I'm happy, but there were some pretty unhappy moments 😃. Without the help of my friend, I couldn't have done it. Yes, the Air2 hurts. I really liked this drone. Maybe I'll find it one day, but I think the likelyhood is low. OK, Accu in der Natur lassen ist ein Problem.... ein noch viel größeres ist es, für eine (wahrscheinlich geschrottete) Drohne sein Leben auf`s Spiel zu setzen. Zum Glück ging alls gut !

What about the crackling sound that went along with that amazing visual around either the star or the moon? Was that a part of your timelapse or did you add that to draw attention to it? In any case, I've never seen anything like this with an action camera, or with anything else, mind you!
Thank you for writing! I added the crackling sound during editing to emphasize, that it was very cold. But to this day, I don't know exactly what caused, what the camera filmed. I discussed it with physicists and photography experts and I'm an optical engineer myself. But nobody could definitively tell. I think, it has something to do with freezing mist. Either ice crystals in the air or on the lens may have diffracted or refracted the light. If you have an idea, I'm still interested find an explanation.

Grande Schwendi, aber das riesige 'ESD Armband' musst Du bei der nächsten Reparatur (falls es wiedermal dazu kommen sollte) auch anschliessen. 😉😂
Hoi Roger, 🤣 das ist eben ein Wireless-ESD Armband mit Fluxkompensator. Hast natürlich völlig recht, war ein bisschen heikel. Ich hab zwischendurch den Heizungsradiator berührt um mich zu entladen und gehofft, das DJI die Module ESD-sicher entwickelt haben. 😃 Wahrscheinlich hatte ich einfach Glück 🙈. Hoi René und Pia, vielen Dank. Es hat mich sehr gefreut, Euch kennen zu lernen und mit Euch zu plaudern, man hört unsere Stimmen gut auf den Rohaufnahmen 😃😃. Am Ergebnis hatte ich auch Riesenfreude, leider sind einige Aufnahmen schlecht fokussiert, das ist mit dem Maksutov Teleskop echt schwierig. Ich hab schon mit meiner Frau über ein teures Tele gesprochen 😃. Euch auch ein tolles Wochenende und bis bald mal wieder. Lg Andreas

🤣 it's still up there, it was too dangerous yet because there are still bits of snow there.
At least it didn't go down to the foot of the waterfall (as far as I can see)! And hopefully the snow thaw doesn't take it down there later also. Or are you checking on it from time to time with another drone? 🙂 In New Zealand a lot of people are selling their almost brand new Avata (v1) packages, presumably because they feel they must get the Avata 2 without delay. I have been tempted to buy some of these cheaper (more or less half price) drones so I have a spare for the day when my current Avata ends up in a deep pool in a river or in many pieces at the bottom of a cliff but have held off so far. I'm also sure that sooner or later DJI will release a firmware upgrade for the Remote Controller 2 and Goggles 2 so we Avata 1 users can eventually buy just the Avata 2 airframe. Hopefully my Avata 1 will last until then! And at that point there will perhaps be even more very cheap first generation Avata airframes for sale so I will have a choice.
@@CNoEvilNZ absolutely. I hope it's still up there. I was close there several times but didn't see it. I was looking with my Air2 with the result, that the Air2 is stuck up there as well now 🙈🙈😪. I think there may be wind gusts because of the waterfall or something. It's like cursed.... Now the stakes of the rescue mission are twice as high

Ouch, and double ouch! Good luck with the rescue mission which I will be watching out for! Just "for fun" I have been trying to find the waterfall in question but I can see now even more clearly why you might not want too many people to know the location.
