What a great interview! Mickey was a very talented piano player. One of the best honky tonk players! He was always very kind to all his fans. I saw him take as long as it took with his fans, autographs and photos. I met him several times, he always remembered me and always a gentleman! Rest in peace dear Mickey, you are missed.

Living in the UK I feel fortunate to have been able to witness A J winning the Silverstone Indy race back in 1978 where he defeated the Penske boys in far newer cars in his Coyote. I remember him saying that he had taken advice from Sir Jackie Stewart that Stowe corner was the best place for overtaking and he sure did. Marvellous

It's a shame about Bill Peterson. As the team Center Bill Curry said, Peterson had great success coaching and rebuilding college programs, but just didn't handle the pros. It's a shame because he came across as a really nice, almost paternal figure. But even growing up as a kid Steelers fan, I respected Bum and grew to admire the Oilers of the late 70s. Dante was almost as big a hero and idol to me as Terry Bradshaw was, Dante only missed 5 games in 9 years!

The reason the Oilers never got to the Super Bowl with Bum is because of the Stabler trade. For that reason he deserved to get fired. He depleted the team of high draft picks so they were shit for 6 years.

What Dan says in the beginning is absolutely correct. There is no team to be loyal too. Not the Texans nor the Titans. Always the way I have felt. So, I choose to root for whoever plays the Cowboys, and ever since the disassembly of the Oilers, the Cowboys have never made a deep play off run. Thank you Jerry Jones.

Even though I would fall under the category of being in the later generation of Rockets fans (I started caring about the Rockets slightly after the Championship Years), I enjoyed this podcast. After hearing them commentate games for years, listening to them through the various platforms this is on just didn’t do it justice. I needed to watch this! Thanks for the conversation, Mr. Ward.

Dave, seeing and hearing you and Shara together brings back warm, safe childhood memories and feelings. My family watched 13 Eyewitness News from as far back as I can remember in the 80s. Even during visits home after I left for college in the mid-90s in North Texas, I still made it a point to catch you two when I could. Hearing the opening credits and music and then, “Good evening friends, I’m Dave Ward. And I’m Shara Fryer,” takes me back instantly. Thank you for all you’ve done for news in Houston, Dave. Whether it was Hurricane Alicia, Challenger, elections, floods, Livestock Show, or the day-to-day news events throughout my childhood and youth, your voice each night was a safe, calming constant. A tremendous tip my hat of to you, sir. You truly made a difference.
