I feel like everything after Pokemon gold and silver sucks ass and should be thrown away I mean come on a ice cream cone and a candlestick are not Pokemon and then coming out with these big ass dragons that are like gods no way too over the top
I honestly don´t care what People say... I only care if the Designs are good atleast.
Not really
GameFreak nowadays create individual characters, not species.
New Pokemon characters remind of disney characters
What percentage of each generation is humanoid? You'll be surprised at the results. Your entire thesis is completely made up based on a wrong feeling you had.
I don’t want to be a “genwunner”, but I will die on the hill of earlier gen designs being better. Yes I understand ditto and electrode etc exist, but only about 10% of earlier gens had shoddy designs, now it’s close to 50%+ per gen that the designs looks uninspired and lazy. Earlier gens had a nice blend of “rounded” and “sharper” edges of the designs, now they are too far one way or the other.
In a lot of ways they end up looking like Digimon.
The only reason its "uninspired" is because you don't like it. This entire video is just NEW POKEMON BAD OLD POKEMON GOOD, and is extremely one sided. In my opinion, the OG pokemon looks worse. For every interesting design like koffing, gardevior, and beedrill their is a generic dragon, a generic dinosaur, and a generic horse that is on fire. Meanwhile newer generations give us pokemon like primarina which is based off of sirens, skeledirge which is based off the Spanish Coco, and the charcadet line which is based on haunted armor. A lot of the newer designs take inspiration from the culture the region is based off of, including using actual mythological monsters.
It’s okay to have shit taste
@@AntonChigurh- Did you even read my comment,or did you just see that I had a different opinion and chose to insult me?
@@truegamer7760 The latter
@@AntonChigurh- Well if you read my comment you would have known why I feel like newer pokemon are good.
@@truegamer7760 You're still wrong
I’m not sure how much it is that the new more human designs are bad but the quantity of them because mons like gardevoir or machamp suffer from the same design issues as cinderace does. I think more of the actual monster designs and less of human like ones could help but I would also be nice to see the old design principles back
Tired of new starters looking like furries shit is weird Ik not all of them are but it’s still annoying
I don’t like the new design philosophy because they don’t feel like MONSTERS anymore. They feel like beanie babies, looney tunes, or furries, not fighting RPG monsters
I love to watch old graphics of Yokai for hours without stop. You can often find prototypes of many pokemon or in general stuff in Japanese manga and anime. Even graphics you can find on Japanese streets. Yokai themselves are in concept similar to Pokémon so much, you want to buy Goetia or Lemegeton and summon a Yokai and put it into the spirit trap/protopokeball described in the text. My friend even one created.
All Pokemon after gen 6 are trash
THANK YOU. I agreed with every opinion you had in this video 10000% it felt so good to hear my opinions validated 😂😂
The modern cards and Pokemon look so cheap and ugly! Unbelievable people still play!
Same goes for Yugioh
frankly i disagree a lot, but you still make some fair points
Good video
While everyone is yapping about what they hate the most about modern pokemon, I DONT i love evry pokemon equally doesnt matter if its hard or easy still loved by me
i agreed with what you had to say i grew up w/ Crystal as my 1st pkmn game the end of the video had me laugh/scoff because it said "if you enjoyed that video..." i gave benefit of the doubt & listened toward the end. the experience of hearing your tone throughout the whole video was bland. very tired overall. i dont mind a monotoned/low voice in pkmn; a large group of PokeTubers have hyper highpitched voices which annoy me. my problem was the energy. it just didn't sound like you cared for any of this & i was to believe someone else wrote the script & had you be the guy to read it. idk...to make an example: your effort in dialogue gave me Red/Blue monochrome & i was looking for a Fire Red/Leaf Green finish. same generation except one has a pop of color & stronger visuals. hope that made sense i'll check out a newer video to see how you approach making content now
Meow Meow Meow I’m a Meowscrada!
They either look too much like actual human beings, or they are just shapes with very sharp edges. No inbetween. They don't look like "Pocket monsters", they look like someones OC.
What about a monster means it has to look like an animal? Humanoids, plants and objects were there from kanto already.
@aquashuriken1634 I never said they NEEDED to look like an animal, only that the only options now seem like sharp edges with shapes or human beings. The new ones to me just look really bland and uninspired, more like an OC than a species.
@@dolanpls3330 there are always going to be uninspired Pokémon in every generation, because most people don't like every pokemon. I'm sorry if I seem defensive but I'm just tired of people using the fact that they don't like every new Pokémon design to shit on newer generations, without realizing that they only remember a handful of older generation Pokémon, forgetting about the bad, uninspired ones.
@aquashuriken1634 Yeah but they didn't boil down to the same formula all the time is my point. We've got either eldritch horrors or furry femboys. That's it.
@@dolanpls3330 the numerous animal / plant mon in modern gens. I think too many people focus on the starters and armarouge/ceruledge, because other than those the only vaguely femboyish or furryish one is arboliva. Then in Galar it's again mostly animals and plants, with people hyper fixating on the starters, hatterene, and grimmsnarl. Then in alola mostly fixating on the humanoid starters, most other Pokémon are animalistic or plant like. And so on.
4:41 You taking something to think this is All Might. What you smoking?
OG Pokemons: FUCKIN DINOSAURS 🔥 🔥 🔥 Pokemon now: furros 🧕🏼
There's not a single dinosaur in gen 1-3 though.... And you can't say dragons they made roaring moon
Almost every rock, fighting, grass, bug, water, electric, dark, psychic, ice, poison, normal, and ghost type in the early games is not a dragon. Honestly people like you seem to just remember a few select favorites from early games, then hold newer Pokémon to ridiculous standards, like all of them should be as good as that tiny handful of pokemon you've remembered.
Glad someone shares my opinion. Ceruledge and Armarouge look way more like characters lifted from the MegaMan Battle Network franchise than Pokemon. They are cool, but they aren't something that I would have associated with pokemon off the top of my head if shown them out of context. While I do enjoy some of the new pokemon, there has been this sort of "character" design rather than "monster and ecology" design in the games since I would say generation 6. Quaquaval is the uncanny valley of pokemon design for me and I found it very disturbing. I wish they kept Meowscarada as quadrupedal cat instead of making it a bipedal magician cat since we already had a bipedal cat monster in incineroar and that already looked totally ridiculous when compared to how it looked as Litten. I agree with the future paradox pokemon. It's a bit lazy design to make them just old pokemon, but robots. I'm trying to think of how they could have designed this differently, but I'm not the creative type, so I don't know, but surely an art person could have envisioned a sleek angular pokemon that isn't a robot. The past paradox pokemon look like they had some thought put into them at the very least.
Making Animal Pokémon Humanoid has another issue that should be addressed. It draws the attention of *Certain People,* and I won't say who. You can figure it out.
tbf i love the bipedal ones and i also grew up with gen 4.
I think the sales speak for themselves…there’s a reason older remakes sell like hate cakes. Sinnoh region is where they started dangerously riding the line.
Gen 3 is my favorite, but even I have to admit that Gen 4 is great. Gen 5 though, is the WoW Cataclysm of Pokemon. Gen 5 was only downhill.
I mean, they had temporary "Mega evolutions" and partners that go from elemental animal with an archetypical personality which become humanoid. They definitely have more of a Digimon vibe nowadays, which is HILARIOUS since Digimon was branded the copier. Heck now any "cute and tough" monster collector based game is called a "Pokémon knockoff" as if the franchise invented the genre. 😅🤦😹
Since Gen 6, humanoid starters 📈 Just imagine it for a sec...
I played blue in 97 all games until now. The rpg turn based on hand held atleast. 3-5 is definitely goat
The new ones look like shyt
The level of details is insane. It is literally several spheres and conuses now, with single paint texture
did not see my main gripe addressed, and you seemed to actually think the opposite. a lot of the designs have waaay to much going on, and this has the ironic affect of not making the pokemon stand out as unique but just a jumble of detail. earlier designs are simple, and care was taken to even make their silhouettes be distinct (who's that pokemon shows this in action).
Voltorb
If the original 151 came out as an entirely new set of new pokemon that we've never seen before half of them would get laughed out of existence. I feel like we get spoiled by nostalgia and completely forget about the nonsensical or sheer stupidity of some of the Pokémon Original pokemon. Don't get me wrong I love the original Pokémon but it is somewhat offensive To see the new pokemon designs being taken such for granted. Pokemon in general has lower that goes deeper than pokemon being animals.
These new designs make me pretty sad tbh, they kinda put me off the newer games a fair bit
I have no problem with them being bipedal I hate they are basically job + animal Or they should just admit and insert magic as a part of the world building
If Kanto starters were released today, Charizard would have a fu man chu mustache and look like an Asian stereotype of a karate master. Blastoise would shoot coloured ink and look like a fat Manga artist. Venasaur would have a hand bandana and rice shoots growing from it instead of a flower and be based off a sushi chef or something like that. Making starters a stereotype of the culture your region is based off of isn't cool. It can be done right but my favorites are the ones that are just animals/creatures with cool abilities.
Id say gen 5 is when they were last animal like the most instead of a character theme
Honestly the only ones I don’t like is inteleon and that zesty ahh duck (forgot his name)
Quaquval: "That's not true, darling~ 💅"
Some Pokemon like Tinkaton and Arboliva still retain that Pokemon-like feel while still being new and fresh. The problem isn't that they are taking a new directions, its that the Pokemon no longer feel like Pokemon. With that being said, I will fight for Fidough, Dachsbun, Milcery, and Alcremie. They are peak design.
this is why skeledirge is the GOAT
"Pokuhmon" fnas when the not animal creatures that were designed on a brick with a screen on it dont look the same as the NOT ANIMAL CREATURES on modern consoles that can display more then 3 colors:😡
my problem isnt 3d models my problem is new pokemon look like kiddie shows
I think the biggest problem with current Pokémon designs is the distinction between real life animals and yokai. The majority of Pokémon from generations 1-7 understood how these creatures are copies of creatures we can find today with the exception of yokai. Unlike yugioh which combine creature, humanoid and yokai as one. Pokémon strictly had a separation between the two. Even an example like litwik works because this creature is strictly yokai. Voltorb is also strictly yokai. However a Pokémon such as orbeetle is neither organic or yokai. It’s a weird combination of both. This is where the uncanny comes in.
Most of the rocks and fighting types aren't exactly real animals or yokai. Heck even ledian, the earlier ladybug mon, is sortof an animal yokai mix. Plus there are many recent Pokémon that stick to the distinction you made.
Gen 3-5 being peak? I laugh at you sir
They really need to stop making gay pokemon
I like new pokemon just as much as old pokemon. But dang, seeing new Pokemon drawn in gen 1 style. They are alot better that way. Especially crabrawler.
All these new designs look fantastic made if that even makes sense
This was such a not good video
