Anybody know who the drummer is?
It’s called the right notes at the right pace. The slight discord is planned and wonderful. Genius is not doing the expected; it’s reimagining what can be. Love me some Monk. Coolest cats in town
Hardcore
Monk! Hippest cat on the planet! No doubt😂😂😂
Great!!!!
Look at his hands... The right is one of a white man, while the other is black!
What hapenned to the face of saxophonist Charlie Rouse??? Is artificial cololuring trying to make some jazz musicians more whitie?

Monk was one of the greatest purple musicians to walk the earth.
purple?
The whole video has a tinge of purple
@@pingdingdongpong oh, I see it now. Had to look for purple in close-ups and shades on a bigger screen, It's quite pleasant. The whole vid looks like it was converted and color-graded multiple times, maybe film for tv, than vhs, than digital? I didn't give it much thought at first. I like it, when image is somewhat beat-up but the sound quality is still good, it adds to how things feel

I have listened to so many great pianists from all over the world playing all different kinds of music from classical to jazz and all it's greats like Fats Waller and Errol Garner and Dave Brubeck. I also play myself yet I am missing something regarding the music of Thelonius Monk. I wonder what it is?

Happy 94th birthday.
Que voz mas evocadora espectacular
Snappy strums snare cymbals smooth and keys to melt us into a little melody in bass and timing. An exquisite performance indeed.
This is the quintessential happy go lucky tune. 🎉
Vibal!!! 🔥🔥🔥
When I was in 9th grade I bought " Cannonball's Greatest Hits". I listened to it over and over again. This was in Boca Raton Florida. Believe it or not one week my teacher had to take off and my class got Cannonball and Nat's High school Band teacher. Boy he was tough and strict. I finally got the nerve to ask him if he was Cannonball's teacher. In a very strong and commanding voice he replied " Yes I was Juilian Adderley's teacher!". Boy if I only had him as my Band instructor I would of became great. I tried to play on an old Alto sax with a broken mouthpiece. Forty years later I got that sax fixed for $4.50. I played the horn and it played like butter. I sounded like Bird. Very sadly it wasn't long that I had to have all my rotten teeth removed by an Oral surgeon. Sadly, that's the story of my life. Right as I was about to achieve great success everything fell apart.
