I only use Philmac! Everything else leaks after about 10years. Philmac just keeps going. Would you recommend liquid teflon on top of the tape? I wrap the tape as instructed but also wipe on some plumbers thread sealant. It looks as though it's not needed.

SOLVED - All the advice i got was use more turns of teflon tape. A friend said he used up to 20 turns before getting a water tight seal on some jobs (not specifically with philmac fittings). So I attepted first to do as in the video, fitting a brass 3/4 " tap to a philmac T with 3/4" plastic female fitting. It was a 20mm x 3/4" x 20mm water pipe T fitting. So I put on 14 or 15 turns of teflon tape to the tap - and it still bloody leaked! Problem Solved - I found a product on web claiming to work on plastic and metal fittings. Loctite 55 pipe sealing cord. Got from local plumber supply for $32 for 160m pack. I wound this oversized dental floss into the threads of the male part, filling all threads. Screwed the parts together and bingo - no leaks! Worked on plastic to plastic and plastic to metal joints - easy peasy - I will not be using teflon tape again. In Loctites video for product, it shows it works like the old hemp hair and pipe jointing paste method, where the hemp and paste fills the threads making a water tight fitting. The cord is also moist with some compound in it. Very easy and quick to use. One more tip - dont be tempted to wrap double turns into the same thread groove as this resulted in a leak for plastic to plastic joint - probably due to over stressing and warping the plastic on screwing together. When this occured I just undid fitting and removed the excess windings of cord and refitted - result was no more leak!

I fitted a 1/2 inch to 3/4 philmac bush into a 20 x 3/4 x 20 philmac T fitting and used at least 5 turns of heavy duty teflon tape - it tightened up nicely and i thought it had to be 100 % water tight - but it leaked! it was weeping from the plastic to bush joint, past all that teflon. And I notice the bush is tapered, so gets tighter towards the end anyway? Advice was to use more turns of teflon tape.
