It was kept poor by the outsiders invading & exploiting her, unmindful of the loss it caused to the people. It is strange that she hasn't won many Nobel prizes in literature, largely because her languages weren't having works translated, so as to be within reach of global readers; some ancient languages have histories & are continuous in existence for about two millennia. Most educated Indians, having good knowledge of English & a few more modern languages are able to enjoy works in those; but the reverse isn't true.

I don't know why International media is so anti-India? There is a German media channel called DW which made a documentary on Christian persecution in India.
