Desert Shield, An Airlifters Perspective
Gramma worked at Westover as a civilian. She was an executive assistant to the base commander and immensely proud of both the base and country. I remember welcoming the troops home... they let us in to the base hangar and we waited for the men to de-plane. They had no idea we were waiting for them, since it was a secret and late at night when they got in. I will never, ever forget the looks of surprise and gratitude on their faces. For God and country...
Great video
Fabulous flying and filming. Many thanks!
I have google earth pro istalled, bu the flight simulator feature it is a lighter color and I cant click on it, as if didn't have it installed or something. Can anyone help?
you cant start the flight simulator on ground level but if you enter flight simulator close enough to the ground you will spawn on the ground
I envy you, my last commercial flight (unknowingly) was a few weeks before COVID whilst on leave in 2020 after 35 years. Probably would have choked up on my last PA so maybe a good thing…
That was great; thank you for sharing! 😁 -J Hooper, 68 AS
Great video it never gets old. I love flying, and I love the desert southwest. Where in the park is that canyon at the 7:10 mark I want to go there? Thanks for sharing the video.
Devils Canyon isn’t in the National or State Park. No road access. 7nm SW of Taurus Mesa airstrip.
@@joewaltz8087 Roger that it looks awesome I’ll try and fly out soon and give it a look from the air. 👍
Many thanks for your video, simple yet absolutely essential for those of us that never have used a flight simulator and want to deep our toes in this magnificent free option. I’ve considered buying the MSF-X Steam edition, but wanted to try out something free first and I think it’s great. Don’t have a Joystick yet; still trying to understand how to use the keyboard, but your explanation and guidance are some of the best I’ve found in YT. Best Regards
Glad you enjoyed it. Free makes it well worth it and Idaho flying is some of the best around.
EXCELLENT!!! This is by far the very best video on Terlinqua/Big Bend!!! LOVE IT!!!!
A natureza é maravilhosa
i just found out about this airfield cuz of mfs2020 and it looks really, im 17 though, so not gonna fly there myself anytime soon
Man you stirred up old memories when an old friend and I would fly around Texas in a Cessna 210?? I think? He even let me fly it on a full moon night. When we broke the clouds the moon lit up the cloud tops. That was a lot of fun.
Maybe I should remain a flatlander.
How do i use google maps 2d driving simualtor?
There is none
@@ZackWolfMusic But it will a good idea to add a driving simulator on Google Earth or more specifically at Google Street View rather than just pressing buttons to move on streets.
Awesome! I have Google Earth Pro too!
Brilliant !!!
I’m surprised you could fly SLOW enough to stay behind the cub !
savagecub Flaps
I'm the lowest flying pilot north, south, east, annnnndddd west of the Pecos.
Attaboy Joe! You were one of the best! Congratulations on a great career!
A Texas International guy flying a 787 ? Who’d a thunk it ?
It was always a good time flying with you. Enjoy retirement
Good job joe
Great video Dad! What an awesome tribute to a great man & leader

Fantastic flight and film! Thank you.
Awesome video!
TheoBeo08 Glad you enjoyed it. Great place to visit.
Nice flying. What happens if he buries his wheels too deep?
Water pushes up more than tire pushes down. Surely you've seen a rock skip on water, or hydroplaned your car. Same effect.
Awesome video! What fun... we're heading out there next week in my Cessna.
I've gotta go here.
Awesome! God Bless Texas!
Joe, Thanks for posting this. I spent 4 weeks working the stage at Rhein-Main with your comrade Vic Hooper. Great times! Capt. Scott Price, 312th. Travis
An outstanding historical perspective ! I wonder if that Waltz guy went on to become a movie star ?
savagecub Yes, but only during his time off from his night job..... Performing as a rockstar
Awesome job with the video, what a great look into a massive operation. Thanks for your sevice!
Awesome stuff. The most fun you can have flying.
One of the coolest things I've ever seen. Been to big bend and terlingua a couple of times but never seen it like that. Damn good job !

What an outstanding video. Thank you for sharing it.
Very nice! I think I've made that stretch of river a couple of times!!
Enjoying retirement, love the skiing on the Brazos.
Not bad for a 70 year old airplane
Wow! Great camera work, talented pilots, and beautiful scenery. Livin the dream.
Awesome job, sure makes you want to get out and do some fun flying.. Ole retired 330 pilot.
I love following rivers in my Skybolt, one problem here in Ga. tho is the trees along the banks at different heights, still a lot of fun.
Very cool. Just finished the empennage on my 8. One day...
