Engine run stand - Part 2 - Renault 5 restoration project
In this second video of the series on making an engine run stand, the stand adjustments are finished. The final welds are made (luckily, the welding machine has already been renewed after this video...) and a layer of hammered paint was applied to protect the support. Finally, an engine with its gearbox is mounted in the stand to begin the third part of the making: the accessories supports, the control panel, and the wiring.

Zinc electroplating - How to make your own kit

In this episode, we tackle all the bodywork and spray painting needed for a healthy and long-lasting comeback. From cutting and welding to using chemical products. Whatever it needs to get the rust out of the car. THE BRIGHTENER IS BASICALLY SUGAR. iT MAKES THE SURFACE CRYSTALS FORM SMALLER AND THEREFORE LOOKS BRIGHTER, OOPS Caps Lock! A tablespoon of ordinary white sugar in the electrolyte should do the job. I found that online, have not yet tried it myself.....
Gracias por compartir. Yo deseo comprar un r5 año1984
Hi. I am little bit late, because it is one year gone all ready from publishing this video. But I will say this anyway. I found up, that good zinc plating is always alcalic. Yes, it can be done with vinegar, but it is not that good results. But sodium hydroxide works just fine! And there is no need of any zinc salts. I just used 2 zinc anodes/catodes and add some electric to those. I used at firs 10 ampers lika an half an hour, so oxides goes away. Then dropped ampers to abaut half of that, so something like 5 ampers. And let it just do its job. It takes time many hours. At least for me, it took propably abaut 5-8 hours. And thats it. Then just do as always, put some zinc anode and item what want to plate and thats it. No salts, no acids, no nothing, but metallic zinc and sodium hydroxid. Ps. It took very long time for me to get enaugh zinc to the solution. Do not know why, but it gets working after several hours. I tried it after couple of hours and it did not work. Then waiting and solving zinc and at the end it did work just grat! Result is just like from factory. Shiny and nice silver color plating. And PPS. Do not use very much amperes at the plating. I found out, that lover the amperes, better the result. Example: for item size of 2 euro coin, I used 50-250mA current. Lover is better, at least on my experiments. And Extra ps. For copper it works exactly the same system, but only use copper instead of zinc. So, no acids, no salts etc. Only copper and alkalic solutions. For some reason almost every video on youtube, they use acids!?!? And it kind of works.. but result is dark and not very good at all.. Alcalic solutions are just better for zinc and copper. PPPPS. After doing first layer of copper at alcalic solution. Then it is ok to make next layer of copper at acid solution. And why so? Because then it is possible to make it faster. And second layer of copper will attatch ok good on the first layer of copper. I havent tried yet acid copper plating on alcalic copper plating. But I will on near future. Good luck for you on your platings! And thanks for the video!
Thanks for uploading! Very informative video. I have heard that TIN is an old world go-to for brightening nickel plate solutions, perhaps it is worth a test on zinc.
QUAIS OS PRODUTOS DO BANHO ZINCO ACIDO?
Brightening in 1% Nitric Acid for 1 to 2 seconds.
I love the brakes on a Renault 5, as it's so easy to change the pads.
Rapport prix-amusement incroyable .
search for two videos: DIY Bright Zinc Plating and DIY Bright Alkaline Zinc Electroplating. Here in Brazil I didn't find these or similar products, I would like to discover something alternative to replace the brightners used in these videos.
If they show a branded product, search that name in google and add MSDS, you should look for a SAFETY DATA SHEET in which there are always a good bit of information about what kind of chemicals are used in the product.
How noisy is it at the lowest level?
What is "chlorhydric acid"..?
Pretty sure it's Hydrochloric acid.
Que motor lleva ahora ?
hello brothers hello brothers
A vehicle as important today as it was yesterday and well worth saving. Mines is a humble 1400 ts.
Use pva or macrogol as primary brightness enhancer, additionally vanillin
😪 Promo-SM
I have yet to test it myself, but it seems that Vanilin can be used as a brightener.
Waiting for the next! :)
Hopefully, the next one will be a great one. Finishing the stand and running an engine on it. Thanks for your support!!
Espero haberte ayudado. Mucha suerte con la búsqueda de moqueta!

Is the extra power outlet uk 3 pin plug? Can this machine be used without the bags. Great review. !
Great video. Thanks for making it. Would also like to see a video with only the correct formula. But it's good to see the mistakes to. Judging from what I see it looks like you have a solid electroplating on your items. Also I like the idea that you are trying with safer to use chemicals. I did electroplating years ago and it was an arsenic based solution which I bought from a company , nasty stuff. So I am also looking around at videos for safer products. Thanks again
Thank you so much! I will share a full correct process once I have a good brightener and pasivation formulas that I don't have yet. Hope you like it!
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
good job. i would make another video of the method that works in step by step version. thank you for sharing
Thank you so much! It’s a great idea. I think I will research a bit more on the brightening and passivation steps and then share a full step by step guide. Thanks again for your support! 🥰 It encourages me to keep sharing more helpful content💪

The importance of small details ;)
Excellent! The interior of the car is very laborious
Mask up when using grinders my friend. Those particles will destroy your lungs.
You are right mate! It was a workshop rented for a couple of days and I forget to bring the mask from my shop on the first day... shit happens. But you are right. Safety is a top priority for me as you will see in the coming videos. Thanks for your comment and for taking care. Always welcomed those comments that help people to become conscious of the importance of personal protection. Hope you will enjoy the next videos.
Hi Darko. Thanks for your comment. You show great attention to detail. You are right, I didn´t remove the car headliner upholstery, because I did in the past in another car and it is impossible to remove it without breaking it. So I decided to not remove it this time. Regarding the color, it is the car's original color. I'm sorry that you don't like it, but there's no accounting for taste.

Good job!
Thank you so much! Let´s keep restoring... 😉

[EN] Good question @makintus. Both are great European brands (Sanish in this case), and they offer great quality and durable products, so both are aligned with my tastes. In this specific situation, as I was looking for safety shoes, Bellota was the chosen option.
Great video! Thank you for sharing the unboxing, setup and first blasting with our HBM SBC 190. 💪
A great machine deserves a great video! ;) Hope you enjoy the next ones (with better quality I hope) taking all the power out from the machine. 🔧💪😉 Thanks for the comment!
