    A couple things I noticed, don’t use tweezers to dip stuff into the new oil jug. You have a chance of dropping it in and that will be a headache. Second you don’t need to clean up all the old oil and you can use the old oil to lube the new orings and washer. Never heard of priming the oil housing but it isn’t really primed because the filter isn’t full of oil. There will still be a little of the old oil on the engine components so the 1 second it takes to get oil flowing through the filter won’t cause any damage. Obviously if it gives you a piece of mind just do it. But good job none the less, hopefully your video has helped people save money doing oil changes on there N20/26S

      It will feel tighter as the bushing has been refreshed. If it’s significantly tighter, where when you turn the wheel doesn’t come back to center, it should most likely be loosened

    Mine had it already after 4y and 40k km. Very annoying and It's not only the noise the car also drives very bad on long straight lines on highway. After repair (dealership) noise was indeed gone, but the correct steering feel never game back. In my opinion it feels more loose due to the two rubber gaskets on the new part, it turns too lite. I can only say the steering is bad in all bmw f series ( 3,4, and 5 series) all using the same shitty electric power steering rack. Came from a lexus IS which also already had a electric steering but was much better in feel and straight line stability. The BMW only feels nice on twisty raod, highway is bad also with the new part. Also have a Mini now 75k km, also start to clunk. I can only conclude BMW' products are not the best quality you can buy. Some parts are really poor (costdown) not to speak of the timing chain problem most engines suffer of on the f series

      Hey there thanks for the watch! I agree that the electric racks definitely aren’t the best, especially in this first move after the hydraulic steering of the older models. Hey thanks for the comment. Is e61 a hydraulic rack? If so, I’m unsure if those have a thrust bearing like these

    Did it on mine and cant get it to center proper. Comes back ok when turning right but when turning left it centers to about 11:55 and overall feels like its pulling ng to the left 🤔

      Hey there, thanks for watching the video. If the turning of the steering wheel feels tighter than before, as in more difficulty, then you may need to loosen how many turns you did on the bushing. If the issue persists, you may be having an alignment issue but that would be my initial thoughts!

    I could not agree more about this platform. I bought one a few months ago and love driving it. I also have an m550i but prefer the 230i in the city. The 5 series is far better on road trips though. Nice honest review.

      @EuroFeverGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! Thanks for the comment! I’m glad you agree. I’ve had a lot of experience across the entire lineup and for those looking for the purest drive, the 230 really provides that. Do you have both platforms? 550 and 230 is an awesome garage to have!

    • @arizonarider9120
      @arizonarider9120 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I have both. If the 230i came in a manual, it would clearly be the modern 2002.

    Does this worn part cause your steering wheel to wobble or only noise?

    • @EuroFeverGarage
      @EuroFeverGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, thanks for the comment. Are you talking about a wobble while driving? I did not have that issue, as mine was over bumps, my suspension was making a clunk noise. However if you turn the wheel back and forth while the car is off there was a very audible thunk from my worn thrust bushing

    I have a 2021 230i xDrive (previous generation 230i) and have been thinking about moving up to a current gen M240i xDrive, but your comments in favour of the 230 because of its lighter/better handling feel are a comfort to me and a reason for me to stick with what I already have, a slightly smaller and lighter version of today’s 230i xDrive.

    • @EuroFeverGarage
      @EuroFeverGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey David, glad to hear you enjoyed my commentary! As for your car, the f22 is a great platform and I know many said the f chassis were a major divergence from prior e chassis such as the e82 1 series and e90 3 series, mainly due to the shift away from hydraulic steering and no more naturally aspirated engine options. I think the first gen 2 series is a great upgrade. It keeps the 1 series ideals but modernizes them. Unfortunately the successor to that one (g42) starts to stray quite far and it’s felt in the driving dynamics. In whatever car you choose, as long as you enjoy it, that’s what matters!

    I've got some creaking when turning the steering 180 while stationary, sometimes there's a clunk, but mostly creaking. BMW diagnosis was this thrust piece and also steering spindle bottom w joint.

    • @EuroFeverGarage
      @EuroFeverGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      My clunk ended up being my sway bar end links, I could only replicate over bumps. Your clunking, is that only doing full lock to lock?

    • @anonymoustravelvidz
      @anonymoustravelvidz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EuroFeverGarage it's a bit both, but more so when doing lock to lock. I hope the diagnosis is correct for the same noise when accelerating from stationary.

      @EuroFeverGarage ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anonymoustravelvidz Obviously these techs would know more than I, so I do hope they solve your issue. I have heard top hats are also known to creak, though not clunk as far as I've seen, so it may be time to just do some sort of front end refresh

      @anonymoustravelvidz Have you figured it out? that creaking noise might be coming from your inner tie rod. I was also getting a creaking noise with the full lock turns when stationary & replaced both my tie rods & the noise is gone. & my thrust piece has been replaced as well a year prior so I know that wasn;'t contributing to the creaking

    What are your thoughts on the F32? Should BMW have just kept the 3 series as one model? Couple corrections I wanted to add: In regards to the comment on the m3 platform, I meant to say the f80 was the first induction m3, sporting the new twin turbo s55. Additionally, to clarify, when mentioning the f36 gran coupe, when I stated it was based off the 6 series', I should have stated it's the same idea-not based off, insinuating it was the same platform. The f36 is part of the 4 series platform!
