I live in Melboune and I have also lived in Palm Bay. I think the area where I live is perfect because I have them both nearby. I live on Babcoock St and I have all the shops in Palm Bay just minutes away and the down town and beach too. . I consider both very good but Palm Bay has grown a lot and the traffic is getting complicated. I think what is needed in both is better nightlife and more things for fun. And they should change the nightlife schedule. The only thing there is to have a little fun on the weekends are the bars and at 1:45 in the morning everyone is out. I think we really need more activities and amusement parks.

Calling cocoa and coca beach city’s is a stretch wouldn’t you say? 😂 especially cocoa but they have cocoa village and that’s the best part of the county could even be a lot cooler with some new stores and restaurants the park is my favorite part of town and all the festivals they have and the tin whiskey has the best food in the village and pretty much all of brevard 😄 honestly they did change their fries recently and that was dumb the old fries were amazing but all their food and drinks are great and the service is A1

A big difference between Melbourne and Palm Bay: POLITICS! Palm Bay is the liberal, woke bastion of Brevard County. Melbourne and most of the rest of Brevard is politically and socially more conservative.

I live on the Treasure Coast but I'm kinda of bored here, I'm planning to visit Merritt Island but not live there. I just want to see what the place is like, soak in the local flavor.

Love living in Viera West in the Addison area in our Viera Builders-built house. In just the last couple years we've gotten a new Costco, Home Depot, Publix, Middle School, Elementary School and many new restaurants. Something always going on here. I can't for the life of me figure out why they haven't linked the east and west with golf cart paths since this is basically a giant golf cart community.

I been in Florida for many years. Merritt Island from the air is beautiful. It has potential. But 520 and Courtney are an eyesore. The traffic is crowded. The shopping experience is second rate. The mall is sad. It reminds me of the old Miracle Mall in Titusville. The Miracle Mall was called that because it stood empty for years. Any shopping is either Viera or Orlando. I see many cars on the road all day long . I wonder where they are going ? It really has a minimum of things to do. I wonder what all those people in the condos do ? maybe drink their days away.

Hi Rachel. An hoa would not be for me so I suppose that would limit me to the older houses. Im sure the costs to replace cast iron plumbing with pvc would be prohibitive. Google AI says homes built in Florida through 1975 have cast iron pipes. In your experience, would that year be correct? Inputting 1976 into Zillow should weed out those houses?

Just bought 3 houses in the Waterstone new construction development. They are opening a brand new Publix shopping center by year end so we don't have to drive to Malabar or Bayside anymore. We moved from Ft Lauderdale and we love the area of Palm Bay we moved to. Infrastructure going up all around us and great deals from the builders.

Lake Washington is a substantial alligator habitat best navigated by experienced boaters/airboaters. To drop a kayak or jet ski in this lake or the St. Johns River or any freshwater waterway or wetlands in Florida is beyond dangerous. The brackish intracoastal (Banana/Indian Rivers) are more suited for recreational use, but it’s safe to assume, in Florida, if there’s a body of water, there’s probably a gator.
