Hi. Ground clearance of Superb is less than what you have in Fabia. You can travel with 158mm but there will be places where you will need to be extremely careful. Some of the potholes are extremely deep and the chances of the car bottoming out are very high

I appreciate the descriptive feedback. The videos are to share with others the roads and help them plan. I would have liked to have something like this before I did my travel to better understand the roads. I do plan to take up further travel along your suggested route :) Roof mounted camera is the DJI Osmo Action, the 2020 edition. I shot everything in a flat profile and then added some colour pop in post production on my PC. I attached a long USB cable from inside the car to the top to keep it on charging mode the whole time. That saves me the trouble of having to constantly change battery. I have a 512GB card in the camera and plenty of spare SD cards.

How did you manage the internal USB (overhang vs concealed vs taped to inside roof)? Can you show me a picture of your setup if possible? Another route suggestion, up until Gurudongmar..and then zero point. Same area, Y route, via Lachen and Lachung respectively. Not great roads though but you will manage. And you will need permits which are easily manageable. Planning to do it this October. Fingers crossed.

Apologies for the delayed replies! Been busy at work. 1. How did you fix it to your rooftop and keep it intact on bumpy rides? - I glued the action camera mount on to my car roof top. If i want to remove it, i can always use acetone/ alcohol to remove it - I also have a second mount at the back to capture the back view if I want that 2. How did you manage the internal USB (overhang vs concealed vs taped to inside roof)? - I have a 10 feet long USB cable that runs from inside the car to the top. Cable is visible but I am not concerned about it. I leave it with just enough length on the outside for it to not flap around when driving at speed. I have used this setup for multiple years and never faced a challenge. It is a low cost, east setup which I can setup/dismount in 2 minutes every time I want to use it 3. Not very reliable. I had a lot of problems on the way back. I would not recommend this car for this trip or any sedan that has this low ground clearance

It was brutal. I have kept my videos long intentionally so you can check exact bad patches. There is no road beyond Darcha to Baralacha. Even beyond that, especially till Pang, the road condition is extremely bad

Thank you! That was the intention as I found it extremely hard to find good enough information on roads. Especially since I was not driving an SUV, I wanted to make sure the roads are ok for sedans. They were not:p ,but now you know!

Buddy, I dont remember the exact dates, but it was early November. Even then the weather changes every season. My suggestion will be to call local manali taxi vendors and check if the route is open before you decide to travel from Manali to Leh in November

I dont recall the exact date, but it was certainly early November. Late November the route will close down because of snowfall. Taxi fare would depend from season to season. If you share a taxi, it might cost somewhere around 2000-3000 per person

hey, apologise for the delayed response. Been keeping busy at work. Ground clearance is a big pain. I had to be extremely careful and still hit the bottom multiple times. But on good twisty mountain roads, it was a dream to drive. I made no change, except put good normal road Yokohama tires

hey! It's petrol. Does not handle pot holes well. I had to baby the car through the bad sections. Because of it's long wheelbase, it has a tendency to bottom out very easily. You are in for a ride if you plan to take your car on this route :) Let me know if you want more details, I am happy to talk over phone

Thank you for your kind words :) . I would be wary of recommending such a drive as the roads are extremely poor in many sectors, especially from Jispa to Sarchu & around Zojila pass. But driving a sedan on these mountains has it's own charm. The feel of the road and the excitement of a spirited drive, is not possible in an SUV :)

Unfortunately, yes, on the way back from Srinagar the car hit a rock on the bottom. The funny part is, the car survived just fine in Spiti, in the entire Leh sector and then failed when I was about to hit the plains :p

@@drivinginsuperb So when the car underbelly did hit the road surface, what exactly broke or got damaged and how did you manage to repair it in the middle of a highway ?

Sab jagah problem thi ground clearance ki. Spiti especially as well as this sector from Baralacha to Pang

Thank you buddy :) .I would suggest taking the Srinagar route as most of the road from there is in good condition, except the Zojila pass area. Coming from Manali is a nightmare for all cars, leave aside those that have low ground clearance. Anything below 200mm needs to be treaded with extreme caution. I cannot emphasize enough on how bad the roads are and how careful you will need to thread the particularly bad sections to avoid car damage. Happy to talk over the phone if you need more guidance
