I am just a regular guy that has a passion for cars, some may say an obsession. I have started this youtube channel to share my passion and bring you along the way as I repair and modify my cars
INSTALLING AN M3 EXHAUST ON MY BMW E46 330CI
In this video I install an M3 back box from Malian Exhausts to my E46 330ci.
I have to cut out the spare wheel well in order to make space for the M3 exhaust, I bought a blanking plate from Born2Drift on eBay to cover the hole. After that i got a local fabricator to help weld the back box to my stock exhaust.

Setting a colour scheme for my Audi A6
มุมมอง 6593 ปีที่แล้ว
FINALLY!!!!! I return from a long time of not uploading.....I have a lot more content coming over the next few weeks. This video sets a precedent for an accent colour coming as this car progresses starting with the brake callipers. In the next few videos there are physical mods and a lot more exciting content.
Introducing my Audi A6 Avant
มุมมอง 1.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I show you my Audi A6 Avant and explain when my intentions are with this channel. You will see the Audi get cleaned and a short walk around of the car.
How much did that all cost I got an 325ci auto
The back box was £250, the plate was £80, diffuser was £76 and the fab work by Steve cost me £80. So all in all just under £500
I have gravity performance headers on mine. fit well and are a decent quality. Also have a look at a K frame for the rear that ties into the subframe.
Funnily enough I’m looking at both of those, I have mid pipes but I do want the gravity headers 😂
Nice job looks nice sounds amazing just got a 330ci myself could I get a link for the exhaust? I Subbed looking forward to the rest of the build
Thanks mate, it’s a Malian exhaust, the link is: malianexhausts.com/product/bmw-e46-m3-performance-exhaust-backbox-quad-titanium-tips-98-05/
@TomDyeYT definitely going to grab one looks really decent for the money what's next for the 330 then ?
@ definitely worth the money!! Next week I’ll be releasing a video on the interior, a bit of a change, I am collect parts for a big video soon but I still have a few bits to sort out for it. Angel eyes will be at some point too
Glad i watched this. Might be buying a 2004 330ci with the manual tomorrow
They are amazing cars and the facelift has a few decent upgrades like the lights to set it off nicely
@ Heck yeah. I’ve been looking for one for a while now. Only downside I have of the one i’m looking at is it’s a convertible. It so hard to find a manual tho in Arkansas. Well all of America lol.
@ to be fair finding a manual coupe is hard to find in the UK too, especially one with good mileage and in good condition. Just got to keep looking
love your content, please make more e46 video
@@mantulatun I appreciate the love, more content is on the way shortly, a lot more planned for this build
New wheels look worse
O get they aren’t for everyone and silver would be more classy however they are temp wheels and I think they are not bad for what I paid for them. I wanted bronze but gold was what I found
I’ll subscribe was a simple yet good video . Keep it up 👍🏾 😊
I appreciate that, as the channel grows the content will improve as will the builds, I’m glad you enjoyed the content so far
Nice motors these. Used to have an E46 about 6 years ago, it was only a 318 with the 1894(ish) cc. I see yours has got the famous one rear tail light brighter than the other, mine was like that, I think they burn themselves out or something. You have to change the bulb holder thingy, easy fix
Yeah amazing cars and after editing that video I noticed it and luckily mine was a case of swapping 2 bulbs that were in the wrong place as they are a 2 way bulb for the brake and tail light and the previous owner put them in the wrong place, that’s all haha but I appreciate the tips. Plenty more coming on this project mate, stay tuned
Do ebay headers next, it will sound like an m3 at higher RPM
keep stock resonator though
I have a few videos ahead of additional exhaust bits but headers are on the list mate
Does the car handle any differently without the wheel weld? Just out of curiosity.
No, it’s not a structural part and it doesn’t add any rigidity. If it’s a concern then you could always get a rear strut brace which is something I’ll look at in the future but not due to this just because I want one anyway
@@TomDyeYT Alright got it, was curious because in my country I've not seen anyone do this yet, so this is really cool. Thanks!
@ thanks mate, I appreciate it
Get some LED rear taillights makes a huge difference to the rear end, Can get em from scrappy for £30 or thats what i got mine for XD
Yeah they are on my list of mods, you need to get a wire adapter as well don’t you, they aren’t plug and play from the pre-facelift to the LCI as far as I am aware
@@TomDyeYTyou also need to get a different light switch
air intake upgrade, catless headers, x pipe and exhaust... wheel color looks great 🤙🏾
There is a K&N intake on it already but yes I need to do more to the exhaust and car less headers are on the list
Probably should have whacked some under seal under the boot floor as a bare minimum, but good job on the removal
@@antj29 to be fair I did seal the bare metal but I appreciate it wasn’t shown 🤦♂️ next time I’ll be sure to include those details haha, got to start somewhere with this editing stuff 😂 thanks for the comment
The only downside of the e46 is 330i now is the fact the better 330i e90 with the better N52 are also £2000 cars now , way better car and the engine is night and day better then the m54. But agree sub M cars are better spend for your money. Even a £9k e46 m3 will need bare minimum of £5k spent on it just to make half good standard, 330 is much cheaper to run for 80% of the m experience
@@antj29 for me, the E46 is just a better looking and more iconic car unless you talk about the E92 but then that’s only the M3 for me and that is not comparable from the V8 to the straight 6 BMW are well known for. There are issues picking up an E90 330i for so cheap but yeah you can do it and might get lucky but I guess that’s the same issue with the E46 330ci. I completely agree with what you’ve said about the M3 price wise and comparison, they are definitely 80% of the car and maybe more so once you’ve modified bits like the suspension, exhaust and other driving components
Nice one man, Looks nice, the sound is great. I got the same model, but automatic, I'm happy with the engine and sound exhaust especialy when I'm on the manual gears ❤ The original is original😂 😂😂😂😂😂
The previous wheels are much nicer, getting a tad chavvy
I get that the gold makes it a little less classy but they are only temporary wheels anyway as the future plans for the build will change things anyway but I appreciate your opinion
What happened to the Audi?
@@shaza3602 the Audi died on 200,000 miles, it had fuelling issues and injector issues so it went however I may be looking at another Audi in the near ish future for a different kind of project
Have a Blessed New Year (Bmw all the way)
@ haha I appreciate that, I hope you enjoy the build
The wheels look really good.
Thanks, I appreciate it
Where did you get the plate for the floor?
It was on eBay from a company called Born 2 Drift, I’ve out the link below www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176159134930?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=616tl23SRCC&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=AmjkgUQhRH2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
No offense bro but you could’ve just fitted a free flow muffler with way less effort and it would’ve sounded better . My M54b22 e46 sounds way deeper than that b30 with half the effort . You work is neat though , nice work
@@phawupowerhousesakwe7897 thanks man, I appreciate that. I get it was effort but the noise is only half of it, I love the aesthetics too. I also have a lot more planned for the exhaust in the future so this is just the start and worth the effort for my goal but I get what you’re saying and appreciate your opinion
Did you check the RACP while you cut the boot floor out and had the exhaust off?
@@matthewnicholas6365 yeah, there were no cracks or signs or wear as I know they can go on these. Thanks for the advise though, much appreciated
GREAT vid!!! looking forward to seeing more changes!!! i like the Gold colour but not the wheels. but you said youll be changing them anyways.. LCI rear lamps? subbed 😉
Thanks for the sub, much appreciated. Yeah the wheels are changing after a few more mods so plenty to come back for. The LCI lights are 100% happening and angel eyes are a must too I appreciate the comment and support
You’ve just butchered your 330!😳🙄 What the actual fcuk made you cut out the boot floor ffs🤔😳🙄 Can’t believe you’ve done that & for what, to fit an aftermarket back box!!🙄😳 Two completely different chassis!!
Respectfully they are the same chassis but one has a full size spare wheel well and the other doesn’t and the M3 has more bracing, other than that the chassis are the same. If you don’t like it I respect your taste but I personally prefer the look of the 330ci and think it’s an improvement over the stock duel exit system. Personal preference I guess
M3 style exhaust back box. It's clearly not an oem item. 😅 It was a good watch though, no subscriber for now, I'll see how it pans out 😂
So it is an aftermarket back box designed for the M3 so no it’s not an OEM part but it is still an M3 not M3 style exhaust as it’s designed directly for the M3
Yo!! Thank you so much, I have a 330ci and I want to do this. The only question I have is can you please let me know what insert for the dual set up did you use for the rear lower valance. Was it a stock M3 and did it fit right up after you cut the original zhp brackets?
Inside Performance in Germany, and many others make the M-Tech diffuser with quad cutouts. They also sell proper quad exhaust without cutting your floor. Don't cut your car and make it rust like this guy. Please. Do it right.
Alright mate, so it’s an M3 style diffuser for the M sport bumper, the stock M3 diffuser won’t fit. I got it from Ali Express I have put the ink below. Also you’d need to fabricate an offside exhaust hanger bracket for it as the 330ci doesn’t have it from stock a.aliexpress.com/_EywTDnq
@ thank you
@@idokwatcher2062 respectfully I sprayed the metal to prevent rust, I haven’t left exposed metal and if you get a rear section that works around the wheel well you don’t have a back box and it won’t pass an MOT nor will it sound the same so that’s why I chose to go this route and cut the car properly and made sure I sealed the metal Granted I didn’t show this so you weren’t to know. Apologies
First video I’ve seen of yours, and the quality and content is really cool and you seem to go into everything with very good depth so anyone at home could be able to follow and try aswell. 😂 The quality is really good, can I ask what you use to record please, and have you had experience with making videos before, because your videos seem really good and natural.
Hi Ryan, I really appreciate the comment and I’m glad you like the content. There is plenty more content coming on the E46!! As far as camera set up, I have a Sony ZV E10 with a Rode shotgun microphone. I have filmed 6 TH-cam videos that are on my channel from 3 years ago but other than that no I have no experience in front of the camera, I’m just being myself so I’m glad it’s being received well. Currently working on editing the next video, stay tuned.
@ I bought the same camera 3 years ago to start my car TH-cam channel and have only used it once. 🤣 Also had an E46 330ci to make similar videos but ended up having to let mine go before I even started doing any work so hoping I could follow this journey to see the transformation. 😂
You need to blank that vacuum pipe off mate , I gather you probably have already , or else you have a vacuum leak , Cheers fella 👍
Yeah the vacuum line was sorted but thanks for the advise
Nice!!!! Good to see a proper at home car vid. Car sounds good as well. Hard to beat a bmw straight 6 rumble.
@@thelocksmithuk appreciate the comment and I’m glad you’re enjoying the content, plenty more to come!! I cannot wait to get more noise when I do headers and the rest of the system
you should def put a gruppeM carbon intake on that it would sounds absolutely brutal
It could be something to look into down the line, plenty planned first 😂
C̈ԱՈԷႽ DOING STԱՈԷႽ.
Brilliant video man!
I appreciate it mate, I’m glad you like the content, much more to come on this car and future builds too
Get som M3 rims or BBS something 😢
@ alloys are on the cards but this car has a lot more mods to happen first, the alloys will be the making it sexy part down the line 😂
My 320ci vert has 264,679 miles on it currently I love the car to bits it’s super clean underneath and 100% leak free runs and drives amazingly. Just need to get the body work tidied up cosmetically but thankfully 0 rust anywhere. I bought it a couple years back on 250k for £750 with 12 months mot 👍
@@dexietyy7922 banging, that’s a great car for £750 by the sounds of things. I know 175k isn’t hugely high for these engines but it’s generally high mileage for buying a car 😂 I glad to hear yours is running well
@ yes very the most expensive thing I’ve had go wrong was the clutch disc sheared where the splines are but I think that was due to my driving style 🤣 ditched the dual mass and stuck a single mass flywheel kit on it. M54s are bulletproof with yours being the 3.0 I would get the oil pump nut secured properly unless it’s already been done they like to come loose and kill the engine!
Are you selling those roof racks?
@@anishmahadeo5073 I can sell them as I don’t have plans for them, message me on Instagram instagram.com/tom_dye_/profilecard/?igsh=MXUzNWR3bWFmNnl5eA==
@ cheers mate, messaged
What happened to the Audi?
The seats are nice, to make it match, i would paint/retrim the door cards, and do something interesting for the decorative trims. And one thing that it really needs - lsd, not just for skids, but also driveability
I completely agree about the LSD and I plan to do a video on an LSD/LSD conversion kit. As for the interior, I have some ideas but I can’t see me keeping this colour
@ lsd conversion kits are not really that good, as i have heard, but for the interior, try cleaning it, maybe its a different colour overall, but you can always paint it, make sure to do the right steps, with a finish layer, so it doesn’t rub off
@@7privet_I have seen some that are good and if they fail it’s normally on the installation, I may try it out and if I blow the did then it’s an excuse to get a new one 😂 as for the interior I am filming that video now so stick around to see the result
My question is are the seats heated ? And if the answer is yes then please don’t butcher them dying them And all that nonsense sell them to me please as my car hasn’t got heated seats And willing to collect them Rather then dye them black Thought i would ask at least.
@@badmotherdude150haha I appreciate the comment mate, sadly they are not heated no, fully electric but not heated.
nice it has the e46 m3 interior keep it
I do have some plans for the interior, you’ll see that soon
I have the same car with 380.000 km and i love it. What exhaust u have ?
I’ll have a video on my exhaust releasing soon
Great content, great bloke
Subbed big lad
After 20 mins of watching this the least you could have done was show the finished result!
Hi, where abouts did you buy the grill from?
Just off eBay mate
I have the same car, I’m sorry but the grill is nasty IMO
Do you know what size inlet the tail pipes were mate?
2.25 inch I believe
Hi mate, can i just ask what tyre sizes and wheel specs you were running here? Is you car on stock s line suspension? Looks bang on 👌🏻😎
nice one mate ! I'm trying to sort out this same fitment look for my Audi. Do you the full specs on your Rotor wheels ? size/width/ET. Cheers mate !
Hi mate, they are 255/35/R20 with a 20mm spacer in the rear and a 25mm spacer in the front
hello, what size are the new tips? I want to change them too, but I don't know what size to put, what did you use?
The tips are 4” Miltek tips
I have Audi A6 2012 and i want to change aswell the tail pipe….so what i need to check????
Couldn’t you use your original emblem holder?
You got a link to the grill ?
