    I love the violin, and I love the music. And that makes me want to learn more so that I can bring joy to those who listen, and to myself. Making money, gaining international fame, and so on, should never be a top priority when decide to learn to play.

    Most baroque violin players I have seen hold the bow quite a way away from the Frog - an inch or two away from the normal position, and I noticed that in fact when I try my baroque bow it actually does play a lot better in that position and it's quite tricky to play in the conventional position with your thumb touching the edge of the frog... any comments?

    Do u have to put so much on the bow

    • @ViolinPodcast
      @ViolinPodcast 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don’t have to put a lot, just a few swipes of rosin will do the trick. However if you recently purchased a violin and the bow doesn’t have rosin on the hair, then you may need to apply more.

    At 6:30 - she did not play Mozart 5 for the taped audition. She said "yeah" but obviously didn't remember either. I was not impressed with her audition tape. She is not an artist. She is a violinist - an orchestra player - but not more than that.

    I really enjoy your podcast, although I cannot say that I agree with your idea on language and music. Nora was actually correct about music being a universal language. I wish the discussion was set to the point of the objective of language in itself. As music is a tool that conveys feelings, expressions, emotions, etc. Much like language is used to convey feelings and ideas, etc. It is such artistic expression as music and dance that can and have deescalated horrific situations. The genre that she represents in itself is an amazing expression of that, and I wish that was expressed better in this podcast.

    I desperately want to become a professional violinist and I have the passion and enthusiasm and I can make enough effort for that but now I am confused about the plan that I should follow in order to achieve what I want which is to become a professional musician purely from the first 🥇 stage I wish with all my heart and I will be indebted to you if you show me the right way or make me a plan to become a good musician And as for the plan I am talking about the hours of rehearsal and what should I do I practice in order according to what you think I need to achieve my goal and thank you 💕🎻

    I was in the music induustry most of my adult life as studio owner and recording engineer and most of my work was in Rock and R&B back in the analog days and knew very few musicians who attended classical music. Asking those who stated they liked classical music and the response was often because the performance wee not easy to get without a season subscription in San Francisco, the closest venue. It it was true, I had season subscriptions several years and it was expensive and often 1/2 the seats were empty. Even more so with the opera season. It seems that in some cities classical music is only available to those who could afford season tickets, so people with normal incomes were locked out. The last time I was in NYCI attempted to attend opera at the MET, and the tickets for second balcony were $800 each. I moved from the US in 2000 to St Petersbug Russia and every performance in tthe 54 theaters for classical music, opera or ballet are filled. he upper balconies are packed with kids from about 10 years old and up. hey grow up with it being accessible so to them it is normal to have a hard time choosing between a rock concert of ballet or symphony., both are desired. The rock concert however is usually more expensive. Kids in my home country have no exposure or opportunity so as adults they have no interest or knowledge of it. The lack of access to what little choice there is in most communities for fine art, music, opera, ballet, quality museums and drama is short changing kids who grow up with no interest become parents raising kids following their parents example.
