After a huge storm passed through Calgary big Browns and Rainbows were stacked up to feed on pale evening duns and caddis. With discolored & high water levels fish were taking off the surface. I provide 3 tips as seen in the video and also my gear setup to effectively catch trout on the dry fly on this blue ribbon fishery. Fly fishing the Bow River Golden Stonefly hatch
มุมมอง 2.4Kปีที่แล้ว
The golden stoneflies are one of the premiere hatches on the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta. Stoneflies are nocturnal when they emerge and big brown and rainbow trout will feed aggressively on these large bugs. This video shows how aggressive these fish can be when targeting this hatch an also the quality of trout in the Bow river water system.
Very nice man! Itching for next summer seeing this.
I know the feeling, I can't wait for next summer either! Thanks for watching
What stream is this?
Kim Jon creek
Not finding a creek with that name, keep getting n Korea fishing 😂 am I getting punked would love to explore it next year
Great Job.
If you are handling fish like that it’d probably be better to not have gloves on. Thanks for the video - would love to fish the bow one day
Been fishing the Bow River since 2000 when I moved here. I never fished double dries before. Thanks for the tips !
What’s your Facebook dude
Well made video , Thanks for sharing it !
Couple of beauties! I just drifted the bow for the first time last week..an absolute blast. Video to come later
I fished that section of the Bow River in the 1980s! Olive mayflies worked then too! The river has sure been changed a lot since then.......
Mind sharing generally where in the Bow you are fishing? New to fly fishing!
Try anywhere south of the water treatment plant. The west bank is your best bet! Learn when the bugs hatch, and write down your successful days! The hatching schedule repeats year to year somewhat. Also, stay late for the caddis bite. That happens most nights in July.....
Good eatin fish rite there
I have fished that stretch for well over 30 years !
One of my favourite places to park on that river. Up or down stream it doesn't matter...so many good runs and big fish!
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing!
Great videos! What time of year do the golden stones typically hatch on the bow?
The hatch typically starts around the mid of June and goes until around middle of July. You can also fish it into August when the females start laying eggs on the water.
Love your talks at then end:)
Nice catch! Where abouts is this in Calgary?
Nice fish but it breaks my heart when people keep this fish out of the water like that. Overall your fish handling is great. Just a bit too long and high up.
Thanks for sharing, missing the Bow. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you. It certainly is a world class river for trout fishing.
Great videos. Solid content. Keep them coming.
Thanks for watching I appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing good catch sir
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Hey man, i love these kind of video. Will follow you on IG. Keep posting man.Awesome vid.
Appreciate it!
Great fishing man. Beautiful spots. I gotta make my way down there
Nice trout on nice water. To bad the regulations didn't allow for a longer day. Beware the corners of rivers as that is usually where the forest friends show up. Thanks for sharing.
What time of year? Love the Bow. Thanks for sharing.
This was late spring
@@flyfishingparadise9192Is early July a good time there. I’ve heard mixed reviews and that’s when I’ll be there next year
@@JP-dz7zu it depends on the spring runoff usually the river is very fishable early July. Stoneflies, caddis, pmds are usually hatching.
Word of advice :-) .. when you see a baby griz like that .. go back the way you came from and vacate the area. Gorgeous water and thanks for the vid
Great, wow that’s a big fish.😢
Hey man! love your video! Im from calgary and would like to go fishing with you one of these days if you're cool with that. Maybe when the weather gets warmer we can go out. I started fishing last sept and been catching big fishes as well at bow but would like to learn more bout the sport! Keep it up man and keep posting vidoes!
Hey thanks @bernabemanzon5915 for watching and glad you like the video. That’s great that you took up the sport and have been catching some big fish, the bow river is an amazing fishery. I am always game to go fishing. You can message me on instagram @flyfishing_paradise when the weather gets better. If you want something a bit more formal I also guide and have a 4 hr walk and wade where I teach about entomology, the different techniques and how to read big water like the Bow river. I have a few videos that I will be posting soon so keep watching. Take care.
