I and my wife are moving to Houston God willingly soon, I have lived in NYC for 35 years my wife a native New Yorker boy oh boy love NY but….😊 My only concern with your comment was that after 20 years you guys might move elsewhere? Why Thank you for sharing your experience

Thanks for posting; I got stuck on that little clip thing on the right; I thought it unscrewed. Also, the plastic holder for the filter had a piece that went up in between the folds and the Fram filter I bought wouldn't fit. I 'modified' that piece so it was more tapered and now it goes between the folds very nicely.

I actually went to Houston to visit last year right after the snowstorm they had. I really liked the cheaper cost of living. I’m from Brooklyn, born and raised and the cost of living is insane here. I’m sure I’m going to moving by the time summer starts. I’m glad you’re happy with your move.

You didn't even inspect all four edges of the new filter to see if it had any indicator as to which side goes up or what the air flow direction should be. Q: How important is the airflow direction through a cabin filter? The media in these types of filters will perform exactly the same in both directions when first installed. The difference between the sides is their capacity to hold particles before the filter becomes "clogged". The way filter media is tested is by measuring how much it restricts the airflow after a specific quantity of dust (grams) has been caught. A filter that is "backwards" will reach its maximum allowable restrictiveness at a lower number of grams caught. Most filter media (including ours) is made in layers. The more open weave layers are on the "input" side, and the tighter woven layers are on the "output" side. You won't damage your car by putting it in the wrong way. The filter will simply reach its maximum allowable restrictiveness sooner. A filter at or beyond its maximum allowable restictiveness will cause the vehicle's air system to move less air than intended. The most significant consequence would be ineffective defrosting of the windshield. Coming from CA to Houston, you might want to visit now and see how bad the state has gotten. If you think NY is expensive, look at prices in LA and SF then add on the absolute requirement that you have a car (probably multiple per household). It's also full of homeless people, smells like pee and poop everywhere, and even some violent crimes are not enforced due to the change in laws that happened around 2014-2015.

This is the type of content that makes me happy about our decision to move to Houston. Been living here for 4 months (hubs was born here, I am Romanian and moved here from Bucharest) and ironically New York was my dream city for years. Also ironically now that I live in the US I can't even go visit New York because of the quarantine stuff they have in place. But you do have a point, life has a cozy pace in Houston if you choose your work and home wisely (as to no be stuck in traffic for ever every day), and the no state income tax is definitely a plus. Also everyone I met here says its a great place to make and save money.

This is really interesting. I live in NYC and left to travel the world. My brother lived in SF and just a couple months ago moved to Austin. You are right though, it's nice to get out of places that make you super comfortable and you need to see new places. That's why we travel full time. We have heard nice things about Texas. 20 years later in Houston and how amazing it could be by then might make you stay a little longer, but if you've always wanted to go to California, maybe that'll be something to get out your system even though so many born-in Californians are just going, leaving California, even companies. California has become the chaos state. Hawaii actually has the better weather and conditions; now, just if it wasn't so far from the mainland, haha. If they get the hyperloop actually going and make it feel like nothing to go to Hawaii, then a lot of people might want to go there.
