Love you, homie. You went through a helluva lot. Your story sounds a lot like mine. My brother Mike passed away from AIDS November 8th, 2001. When I overheard some of my family talking amongst themselves about how it was a shame that he was assuredly going burning in hell, that was the last straw as far as I was concerned. That disgusted me, but... according to the doctrine of most of the christian denominations, they were right. He was a gay man and wanted to belong to the church, but he got ran out of there when a guy suggested that Mike was trying to seduce him. (I was there next to him every service, and saying "Hi, nice to meet you." with a smile was NOT flirting. I'd seen him flirt before, and trust me, that guy would know if he was flirting. LOL) After that, he told me that if god refused to accept him, as he was, then he would refuse god in turn. Anyway... I miss him so much........

People are afraid of death and the unknown, and I am too, but religions are impossible to believe in unless you suspend every bit of common sense and logic & reason. Seems like more of a burden than anything. I don’t consider myself atheist even though I’m ok with that. I guess I’m agnostic at this point.

You don't make your own faith my friend God gives you the faith the ability to believe and have faith comes from the father you don't create the faith yourself. Other religions don't have faith they're believing in something that doesn't even exist or isn't even real so that's not Faith it's a false faith. The heavens and the Earth declare his glory every man is without excuse on that day because God's creation is before every person how can you not believe that something created all that and if you really want to know God investigate who created everything there is no excuse. I'm sorry for your brother did he have cancer I'm sorry that he had to go through that and you and your family had to go through all that assuming that your brother was a Christian let me ask you a question do you believe your brothers in heaven right now with the Lord or not??

The reason these kinds of comments don't convince me is because a person of any other religious belief could substitute "God" for their own deity and the argument wouldn't change. There is no reason to give your god credit for the creation of the world over all other gods.

Your description of faith is incorrect faith is even though we can't see him we know he's there and he's working on our behalf it's not a wild whim of well I sure hope it's true that's not faith faith is putting your trust in Jesus that everything he says in that Bible is true and he is working on your behalf for everything all things work together for good to those that are called according to his purpose that's what he says

Where was your faith in God why was your mother looking to outside medicine instead of looking to praying for her son. Look what job went through he never lost faith and he never cursed God once. Christians are not immune to getting sick dying from cancer but you know what God has a plan for everybody that believes in him and follows him and if something happens to you then you know God allowed it to happen for a reason maybe you can't see the reason or know the reason but there's a reason behind it.

There has still never been wisdom delivered like sermon on the mount in 2000 years, and I've read all the ancient religious texts I can get my hand of, there is nothing close. Western world crumbling with the decline of faith is factual, not arbitrary or exclusionary. It is arbitrary and exclusionary to deny it because of your predisposition. The rise of public displays of Baphomet worship alone prove that.

This is great content. Neither of you have posted anything on TH-cam since this pair of joint effort posts. I hope things are going well for both of you. I encourage you to restart your respective channels. My story is similar to yours. I was raised in the church with very religious parents. At age 12 I decided to declare my belief. In my later teenage years I increasingly doubted. I drifted away from attendance and belief for several years no wanting to be confrontational. By my mid 20’s I knew I was an atheist. I am now 73 and it has taken decades of experience and introspection to reverse most of the dogma and brainwashing. Organized religion is psychologically unhealthy for the individual. Substituting one cult for another does not solve the problem. I meet intelligent people who are selectively questioning and believing - expending huge amounts of psychological energy in hopeless attempts to hold onto beliefs that they know are false. My advice to people like them: Take the leap of disbelief. There is no God. Men wrote all of the religious texts. If the Ten Commandments make sense to you, under your circumstances, in our modern age, follow them because you choose to, not because of mythical creation, or eternal punishment or comforting heavenly reward.

I accept and related to your journey. I was a Baptist Pastor and missionary and married for my accepting wife for 51 years. She had MS for 26 years and I was her carer. She wasn't able to stand or walk for the last 15 years. She has now passed. But I am gay, medically proven. My wife accepted me as I am. She was amazing. But the church told me I am not welcome to even attend church because I am gay. It really was time I left the church. But my two adult kids are accepting and that means a lot. I am not looking for a boyfriend/husband. Too old now and that is OK. I am 77 and I have moved on from my church days. I occasionally watch online the service of a gay friendly church. But I still have many serious questions and that is OK. I have found quite a few answers too.

It's always horrible and traumatizing when something very bad happens to someone we really love. But don't think God wasn't there. This happened to men in the Bible too, especially with Job. The reason for allowing bad things to happen, is (of course the classic, some plan we can't see.) but also to 1: strengthen us in our fight against evil, and 2: so we can better appreciate the good.

As for "faith is the only thing you should need" this is a modern fake church doctrine. Jesus gave many miracles as evidence, and we still have evidence happening today. Look, what religion is most hated? What are they attacking? What religion has the most geographical sites? What is the only religion is based on love and self sacrifie? Look at how complicated the human body is too. I can't look anywhere in this corrupted world and not see an attack on one specific religion. I'm very sorry you had that happen to your brother. But as Jesus said "seek and ye shall find" but that implies if you don't look, you won't find. So stay open minded and always gather more knowledge and intelligence. Maybe you'll see Jesus for who he is. I know I came to the Bible based on scientific evidence, not faith.

Did alot of drugs til about 25, was a really selfish and cocky person.. What I found out is that evil is real and the road that I was on had dead-ended. I'm in my 40's now bro and I know that I know that Jesus is everything He says He is and the bible is the only truth we have in this age of MIS-information. Never too late to go back and repent and tell Him you were wrong like I was. Some of the path you took sounds like it was the "brand" of christianity you were in. And by the, there are LEADING scientists in their fields that are christians, you don't think they've thought the evidence through. Faith just means we haven't "seen" yet, there's plenty of evidence for the validity of the stories of the bible: historical, archeological, even philosophical truths. Take care bro.

I’ve been atheist since age 17 when I had a fallout with religion. I was raised baptized when I was a baby and was raised catholic at first I believed these things but then at age 17 I read the Bible for the first time and I was surprised how a “loving” god punishes people for behaving the way he created them to behave in the first place and also how satan only kills like 10 people and comes out as the bad guy and god killed like millions of people with plagues and floods and is still considered the good guy. The more I questioned the more I realized nothing made sense that’s what made me realize religion is man made. Seeing videos of people leaving religion and becoming atheists makes me happy I’m not alone in this.

This video highlights another issue: many people demand proof of God's existence, yet when God has provided evidence in the past, they often react with anger or disbelief. Consider Satan as an example-he believes in God, yet he still chose to rebel. Even after the final judgment, when Satan is cast into the lake of fire forever, it won’t be solely because of his evil deeds, but because of his choice to reject God. People are no different. Those who end up in hell do so by their own choice. The torment of hell is not something God inflicts, but rather a consequence of one's own actions. The Bible clearly states in Revelation how people will react during the end times. Despite witnessing undeniable signs and wonders, many will still refuse to repent, choosing instead to curse God and continue in their rebellion. This highlights that it’s not merely a lack of evidence that leads people away from God, but a willful choice to reject Him. The farther someone walks away from God, the worse their experience will be. Since God is the source of all that is good, any moments of happiness in hell will only remind the person of God, leading them to despise it. In hell, individuals will bring torment upon themselves for anything that reminds them of God. God doesn’t need to punish those in hell-they will do it themselves.

Being a born-again Christian doesn't make you a good person; it means you are saved if you accept Jesus Christ. The rest of life involves challenges that we all must face, and Jesus helps us through them if we allow Him to. So, seeing people fight in or out of the church is not a valid reason for deconversion. Being good doesn’t guarantee salvation either. Many people don’t realize that we are all saved by grace. What does grace or being saved by Jesus' sacrifice really mean? It means that salvation isn’t earned by works. An atheist who is a good person and a Christian who hasn’t truly accepted Jesus are in the same position-they both miss the mark. They both mistakenly believe that good works count for something when it comes to salvation, but they don’t. Here’s a truth that even some Christians overlook: Jesus is an immortal, pure, perfect, infinite being. The price to enter heaven is infinite, and no mortal being can pay that price. We see this illustrated when Jesus died on the cross alongside the thief who did nothing but believe in Him. Jesus promised the thief that he would be with Him in paradise, despite the fact that the thief had done nothing to earn it but believe. Salvation is free. That being said, everyone-whether in the church or not-deserves death and hell. God knew this, which is why He sent Jesus. The only thing that determines whether a person goes to heaven or hell is their choice, not their works. The video’s focus on works is pointless because it’s not about being good or bad or earning your way to heaven. Love and grace are gifts that cannot be earned. The point about randomness and good or bad things happening is also flawed. If everything were random, there would be no morality-no right or wrong. In that case, actions like killing, cheating, and stealing wouldn’t be wrong, and the video’s argument collapses. If everything is random, how can anyone judge people as good or evil, in or out of the church? Regarding his brother's death, the Bible tells us that good and bad things will happen. Believing in God doesn’t make life easier; in fact, it often says life is hard. It’s clear that he was deeply hurt by his brother’s death, and instead of moving on, he blames God, as many do. The question, "If God is good, why did He allow my brother to die?" has a simple answer: If there is no God, then his brother’s life has no meaning, and his death doesn’t matter. But if God is real, then He simply moved his brother from earth to heaven. We don’t always know the reason, but God uses everything for good. There is a valid purpose in what God allowed, including his brother’s death. The real issue for those going to hell is that they go by choice. Like Satan, it’s not about the good or bad in life; it’s about the choices they make. To address his definition of faith: Christian faith is a trust in God that is supported by evidence of His work in the world, the effectiveness of biblical teachings, and certain scientific discoveries that affirm biblical truths. It acknowledges the reality of God’s presence and power, much like science acknowledges the reality of natural laws, even when not all aspects can be fully explained or understood. He claims that Christian faith is illogical or unreasonable, yet he believes in a worldview where nothing created everything-despite increasing scientific evidence pointing toward a Creator. Atheistic beliefs often struggle to provide satisfactory explanations for concepts like morality or love, which raises the question: why did his brother's death lead him to turn away from God?

I ejoyed this. I am Catholic and in my fifties now. Like you i have faced many times - through travel, reading, and painful life events that have required me to shed previous limited understandings of God that no longer make sense. The point of difference is that my faith has endured / deepended changed as the decades have passed. (As well I was always exposed to the world of science etc and it wasnt presented as contrary to religion). You might call the experience I have had as 'deconstruction' and it has partly been deconstruction, but this implies something exclusively intellectual, and the experience has only been partly intellectual. As for faith, none of us can escape that. It is what we hand our lives over to and it is no bad thing that this should be the searching for and living by truth - as you do and indeed I continue to too. You keep going on your journey, my only advice would be - take it or leave it- is not to label or identify yourself as atheist. This seems to me to put an unecessary limit on your mind and might be a continuation of the labelling you made of 'christian' in your earlier life. Have you read Ian McGilchrist's books? 'The Master and his Emmissary' and 'The Matter with Things'. He is a neuroscientist and philosopher who I find offers good guidance in the world of meaning and truth. I wish you well.

For everyone here who has experienced guilt or shame in the church I am truly so so sorry. My encouragement to you all, as a Christian, would be to consider that humans on earth are often very very poor representatives of who Jesus is and what He stood for. Remember the story of the adulterous woman set to be stoned BY religious leaders and Jesus says whoever has not sinned cast the first stone. As the only One worthy to condemn, He doesnt and instead shows her grace and great compassion. Jesus, in fact, saved His harshest words for the religious leaders who He deemed hypocrites and who were the ones inflicting guilt and shame. Please know that Jesus Christ invites ALL of you into a relationship with Him where He offers you eternal life, great joy and peace that makes no sense, and a love that we can’t even fathom. He does NOT invite us to feel guilty for anything youve done or to go to church or be perfect, no, He just loves you so very much and wants your heart, that’s it❤️ again grace to you who have experienced trauma in church, that is NOT God’s plan for you or who HE is, please consider coming back to Him and living your life for Him not for leaders of a church. Prayers and love to all of you in Jesus name❤️

Classic mentality by saying “if you were a true Christian you would never be an atheist.” I was catholic when I was a kid till age 17 and been atheist for 15 years when reality slapped me in the face and started questioning religion and realized it didn’t make sense and also when I read the Bible felt disturbed with a “loving” god who punishes people for behaving the way he created them to behave in the first place.

this is what happens, when your beliefs are built on tradition of men and the "church" and not on a personal relationship with Jesus and HIS Church. your parents isolated you from the world and while i'm sure it was all with good intentions, it lead you down a path of confusion when first confronted with real life. reading the Bible a bunch of times does not mean you understand The Word, which happens to be your case because going from a supposed "Christian" to a pro-choice atheist, who claims he can figure out his own set of morals is a rabbit hole worth studying. in order to find God, you must be born again and not take pride in having been an active church member, for even the devil himself hides in there

I believe you, and I feel this… I sincerely believed, renounced my faith in my youth divorcing/estranging myself from God and got involved in spiritual adultery, and then years later returned to God… as someone that has gone through something similar I definitely see how satan weaponizes calvinism to discourage those that have gone through such situations. I personally think arminianism is a more biblically sound perspective. Anyway, more to the point, it is NEVER too late in this life here on earth to return to Christ. God loves you so much, please don’t be discouraged by those that have invalidated what you’ve gone through. Know that people will fail you but God won’t, seek Him again, it will not be fruitless if you are doing so genuinely with an open heart. As far as evidence goes, Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 Old Testament prophecies that were written hundreds of years before His birth, and after His death but before his ascension back into heaven, He appeared over 500 people in the span of 40 days. There are extra biblical sources that also confirm the life of Jesus. I invite you to look up prophecies Jesus fulfilled if you wanna do a deep dive into that topic. Please reply to this comment if you’d like to talk more. I sincerely hope you return to Christ, He is hoping the same. Those suggesting that He chooses some to be damned to hell are blaspheming Him as unjust and impartial. Don’t let the philosophies of man separate you from the truth of Jesus Christ. You don’t have to go to church to have a legitimate faith in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s about having a trusting relationship and leaning on those promises. You know because you’ve been there, it starts with genuinely seeking Him with everything you are. Blessings and peace.

The reason I didn’t lose my faith is because I wasn’t raised in a bubble. I was free to ask questions while I was growing up-and I needed to because I had incredible trauma. I don’t know how I could have survived that without God. I still question Him, but I cannot doubt Him. I have seen too many real miracles to deny Him.

JESUS is NOT religion. See Book of Acts 11:26 (the Christian label was given approx 14 years after JESUS was Crucified.) Until then, Faith in JESUS was called "The Lord's Way". It's about having the HOLY SPIRIT dwell within you, that restores you to GOD. There is no doctrine. This guy in video was tainted by "Cult Like" behavior. Your "Creator" wants to be your Father. Life on earth is just temporary. I Love You. It will be OK. That is a promise ❤❤❤

When I was 30, I started getting a tremor in my left pinkie finger. Just like Michael J. Fox did when his Parkinson's began. From there it moved to the entire hand. And then, both hands were shaking. All the time. I remember going out for sushi with friends and they said, 'Why are you shaking?' And handing the girl who worked at the gym my membership card and she said 'You're shaking!' It couldn't be hidden. I was afraid to go to a doctor because I didn't want the label. So instead I went to God. I knelt down, and prayed, and brought my spirit up before God in heaven and demanded: "Lord, take this cup of suffering away from me. I'm not asking. I'm telling. I refuse to have Parkinson's or whatever it is. Jesus, I demand that this stop." Immediately thereafter the shakes ceased. And never returned. A doctor said to me later: 'Parkinsons doesn't go away; it doesn't get better, it only gets worse". He didn't believe that I had it. He doesn't believe in miracles. But for me, I know what I know. And while others might scoff at faith or like you brag about being an 'atheist', I'm very grateful that I have my faith. Because for me it works. Who knows, but if I didn't have it, I might be in a wheelchair today. 13 years after this incident, I'm still healthy.
