Here's what we can do going into our 4th competition. Our autonomous can score 5 cones on a high junction. We use multiple sensors so we rarely miss, even when our robot is off course or the junction is leaning. Our main goals are reliability, resilience and recovery. During teleop, we can spam the high junction quickly. We can put on 12 cones in the first 60 seconds, or all 18 cones (if that's...

Thanks for posting the video!!
Congratulations on the win guys. Good luck at the Worlds.
Thanks! It was great competing with you. Your robot was awesome!
I'm not sure exactly how it went down, but I think HOW definitely deserved to be on your winning alliance, you guys are both very good
We would have been very happy to be with HOW, as we've done very well when allied with them in the past (like at the qualifier). We would have happily accepted if selected by them. But when you're ranked #10, you're not in the driver seat, and we're happy to have competed with Binary as well. If 2nd picked team would have been eligible for Worlds, a Binary > HOW > Technophobia team would have been fun, and hard to beat!
Great job guys, Goodluc in world's!!!!
The guy on the right kept pointing over the boundaries, isn’t that a big penalty?
We've put him in a straightjacket for subsequent matches.
Awesome robot! Would you mind explaining how it knows that it needs to recover from a sensor failure?
it's either time or encoder clicks. If we haven't spotted the junction by, say 600 encoder clicks, we assume we missed it. In practice the only time it's every not seen the junction is when the sensor disconnected, so we're going to switch to "park-only" when that happens to at least recover a few points.
Just put the doom music...wow
Our robot is fairly similar in capabilities/design to yours except we use a single lift. One thing that we have found is while our robot is really good at cycling the high junction you get more points based off of possession of the various junctions. Just a tip and your robot and auto looks fantastic!!
Thanks! You're correct about ownership. We have both strategies and decide which to use based on a number of factors. It's important to consider that if you put 25 cones on tall junctions, that's 125 points that no one can take away, but ownership and circuits require more time per cone, and are both susceptible to the other team taking points back.
goated music choice
After scanning this QR code I am terrified of those capabilities
Review that spam strategy in actual competition. That stack gets very unstable and you could end up losing all points at the end... And worse you might end up with penalties against the other team if they have cones on it too.
Our testing has found that you're OK with 12 or 13 cones. If you knock it over it'll come back. Definitely teams in our league are thinking about this.
@@technophobiaftc I refereed a tournament recently where 10 comes was the tipping point, especially when banged by another bot. I think it's because the fields, towards qualifying time in North Texas, are worn out.
@@hassankarim7084 then we'll have to make sure our opponents, not us, knock it over! :)
lol number neighbors, love from 15004
We saw your "Behind the Bot" episode recently. Great work! We like your horizontal slide
Also in auto do you just set the robot to move until the sensor acheives a certain value?
For dropping at the junction? We look for the junction, and then when we find it, we make some corrections before dropping.
What sensor do you use for the dropdown bar on ur claw?
it's a 2m distance sensor
holy crap what a beast
This is the part of my day I always enjoy! Get the following you deserve - Promo SM!
If I were on the red alliance the first thing I would do is place a cone in the ground junction you guys seem to be cycling over, do you have a strategy against that?
I think most teams are aware of that defensive possibility. We have other approaches that are slightly slower if a team were to squeeze in there to place it. But with a well-matched team, we're going to run out of cones before we run out of time.
do you guys use a color sensor or webcam for detecting the cone on anonymous?
they used the camera. I don't think a color sensor will reach that far
this is 13193 we have gotten 159 points in a game before because the opposing team got 10 minor penalties
It's interesting how they ADD points for penalties, not subtract!
What do you use for autonomous movement ?
We have a custom gyro drive function, just using proportional control. We made it drive in an arc by changing the drive angle. For localization, it's pretty simple, too. If you find the white line on the mat, drive into the wall, and use your IMU, you know exactly where you are and know which way you're facing. So every time we drive into or out of the warehouse, we know where we are.
Impressive stuff! Can't believe you did this all without roadrunner or dead wheel odometry. Do you have any code on GitHub I can browse through? - Team 11205 Edgemont Robotics
Our code isn't all that interesting. We just have a basic proportional gyro drive. But the key to making it fast like this is to vary your angle as the drive progresses, so you get a nice smooth arc. No fancy math or anything.
but if you'd like to talk through anything or work together, drop us an email. We're taking a break for a while but we'll get back to it.
from the twitch livestream: www.twitch.tv/videos/1423427736?t=3h38m12s
is this all using motor encoders for localization?
yes, just the motor encoders, no dead wheel. We use a color sensor to find the white line at the warehouse, and we hit the wall so we know where we are. Sometimes, this autonomous actually stacks the cubes on top of each other on the hub.
Isn't 1010's robot out of dimensions?
I'd imagine they're very close to the maximum, but they have a lot of equipment and folds out, slides, etc. It's interesting how big of a slide they're able to get in the required dimensions.
What an ingenious solution to the shared hub by 10101. Very unique.
we were glad we got a chance to ally with them. Since they could cross the barrier, we were both able to play the allied hub at once after switching away from shared hub.
Are y'all using the drive encoders on your motors or dead wheel encoders. Also, are you using a spline path planner or pure pursuit? Very impressive auto!
We use the drive encoders on our motors and we use our own custom gyro drive function to drive around in Autonomous.
Congratulations on the high score. See you guys at State.
thanks! we're looking forward to seeing your lift in person. But we're not looking forward to battling you on shared hub. Nice work yesterday!
the end though lmaooo
Hey! What types of pulleys did u use to drive the poly bands?
we made some simple 3D printed pulleys with a deep groove
Nice robot! One question though, what's the system that you use to grip the wobble goal? It looks like it's 3D printed. If so, is this a file that you found on the internet, or created yourselves?
We created the gripper ourselves, and made the fingers long, to make the range of where we can grab the wobble goal from wider.
What is a "polycore band?" In other words, your conveyor system, what is it made out of?
"Poly cord" - similar to this: www.revrobotics.com/rev-41-1164/
Hello! What are those red things you are collecting rings with made from?
They are made of silicone, and they are available for purchase from AndyMark
Hey , i was wondering what rpm has the motor that you use for throwing the rings ?
6,000 RPM, using a REV ultraplanetary motor without any of the attachments.
Hey a tip from FRC, you want to have the tangential speed of your intake to be 2 times the driving speed of your robot, with that you can pretty much just drive over the rings to collect them, that's the only improvement I can think of, y'all did an awesome job congrats!
We are working on that now. Thank you for the suggestion.
english?
we made our intake much faster while back, and now we're working on speeding up the conveyor. Your advice has helped up a bunch!
@@technophobiaftc Awesome!!!
what does that even mean? I can't think of any explanation after googling I think basically: speed of robot = s circumfrence of intake = c seconds per round = r 2s = c / r
