Hmm, I had this brief experience with Japanese guy in Europe and he was cold indeed. To the point of being manipulative. And a bit narcissistic. Also, extremely stingy. It was an interesting experience, because he was VERY polite and well-behaved on our first date, said and did all the right things. He really stood out of rude macho types from my homeland.

Yes, you’re wrong about the reactions on delayed trains due to somebody’s suicide is a Japanese thing. I’m from the Netherlands. And for some years I lived in the south, but went north regularly by train. A certain trajectory was infamous for this jumpers, as we call them. Unfortunately this was the only trajectory to the north. So we all had to get out of the train and wait for buses to travel further. I can tell you that nobody felt any consideration for the jumper . Remember one.time traveling with 4 Siamese and Oriental cats. Cats love the train but hate busses. So when in the bus they were screaming the whole journey of more than an hour. The people in the bus most likely hated the cats more than the jumper that time. Even I did. 😊 Another thing is that a jumper is often a life changing event for the driver of the train. Most of them get serious psychological problems after the event. Not only is the result a gruesome view, but they also mention that seeing someone on the rails, know what is going to happen, and not be able to do something, just go over that person.

This is so sad 🥺I guess it is some of the reasons for the decreasing birthrates too. Here I wished to save a Japanese man from the horrible work culture, but I don't think I would be able to live with him going to prostitutes, NOR having his own opinion.

9:40 I'm Swiss, I was at my friend's house eating with their parents when they started talking about a suicide that happened on a train track and I was shocked to hear that they were accusing the dead person of being selfish for causing inconveniences for others. I didn't say anything. Switzerland also has social pressures to conform, but I wouldn't say it's as extreme as in Japan. About the work culture, my stepfather also prioritizes work over family and he's often working even on weekends. Some Swiss men can be very patriarchal too, especially in more rural areas

My Japanese partner lived outside of Japan for about 5 years and thankfully broke away from a lot of these conformities. We still butt heads over a few things he’s stubborn over but he’s my partner for a reason and not because I’m changing him in anyway but because we have found common ground in our personalities and cultural understandings. It’s good to see that love, trust, and dedication can find its way through any cultural boundaries. I’m glad you started this off with “not every Japanese man/person.”

I dated a Japanese guy in college for 2 years. In the end we broke up because I felt like I did not really know him. I had no idea how he really felt about me. Yes he liked me, yes he wanted to date me at the time, but what did he think and feel beneath the surface. We never argued, we never had conflict. He was very nice. After two years I really knew him only on the surface.

😊 Now we know about some of the Japanese lifestyle, no wonder some women from Japan marry into different nationalities, I don't blame them one bit!! They the men need to invest into a female robot that would stay young and be a maid/slave for them, why treat a beautiful woman like she's just there for maid/slavery and when she reaches a certain age, go look for a younger woman for sex etc. What's the purpose in having a real woman, go hire a robot or stay single and go play with a prostitute since it is legal in Japan!! Thank you for sharing!! 👏 👏

I'm a European 20 years old girl, I fit the japanese beauty aesthetic because i have small face, white skin, I'm skinny and i have dark brown eyes and hair. I was raised surrounded by japanese culture since i was little because my parents really liked it. So despite living in Europe I'm very japanese. I dated a japanese 22 years old guy and I was very surprised that in our first date he told me "don't look at others look only at me" and grabbed my face forcing me to look at him when I was just looking around while we were outside, he wouldn't acknowledge my feelings and just care about his wants and needs... like forcing physical contact without asking and telling me "I want to kiss" which sounds like he was demanding it from me. When he left to Japan i tried to distance myself but he would send me many messages. Also love letters and big presents... Even after having rejected him he would still send me a present and when i confronted him about his behaviour he would tell me that he gets dominant sometimes because he wants to keep me all to himself. I managed to distance myself by avoiding him and now he is dating one of his friends. Despite being in a relationship for over 6 months he sent me a message the day after my birthday to tell me he didn't forget but didn't congratulate me on purpose and that he still keeps a picture of me in his wallet and sent me a picture proof of it. And called me his 大切な友達.... I ended up breaking the friendship with him forever and telling him I won't meet him when I go to Japan. I told one of my japanese friends a girl and she told me that is not normal of japanese people and that what he did is very creepy. He is the only japanese guy i dated so this was my experience. Appearance wise he was very elegant and put together like me. So what you said is true when you scratch the mask they usually wear and show their true personality, it depends on the person but it can get really scary. Are most japanese guys dominant and possessive like that with young beautiful girls they are attracted to...? Is that seen as normal from a japanese guy perspective?

Most married people regret who they married! But when chemistry hits there is nothing you can do about it! So what are you going to do!

Hi, I’m not Japanese, and I’ve known about Japanese culture and how Japanese women are treated by Japanese men. It’s been patriarchal ever since. I wonder if that’s the reason why Japanese population is declining. My guess is that Japanese women who are open minded and know more about other cultures that treat women better choose to not marry Japanese men. It’s food for thought on this one. Who would like a cheating husband? Do we women also cheat in a Japanese marriage? Or is it double standard?

Too hard on themselves and do not accept failure in most things, especially when it comes to work, education They don t have a mind of their own and for the most part have conjoint, collective opinions Aloof, frigid and detached when it comes to emotions/feelings Traditional and chauvinistic at the same time They work to death, no time for play and leisure

Imsure you can guess what happened to him. RIP
