I feel so many people got into Thompson for his "wacky, insane drug-fueled" persona or whatever, and then skipped over what was under the veil of pain he put up (which makes sense considering the whole "substance is intrusive" concept) and his legitimate biting social commentary. I appreciate you uploading this video, dude. Feels like a lighthouse trying to illuminate the murky void that is this digital world

Well but there is merit to writing about others, isn't there? Or more importantly reading about others beforehand. Because if you don't, you might very well end up reinventing the wheel over and over again when very similar ideas have already been stated. I mean sure, it's still very satisfying to reach the same conclusion on your own as someone who most people agree to be very smart, but if you want to push forward and create new ideas, it pays to know what has and what hasn't been said. Not that it's anybody's obligation to push the envelope, of course.
