Today, I'm going over a budget Commander deck that I've brewed around Winter, Misanthropic Guide, which focuses on getting a wide range of card types into our graveyard, which will reduce their maximum hand size significantly, and then forcing them to draw excess cards while punishing them for drawing or discarding those cards. Today, I'm going over a budget commander deck that I've brewed around Eluge, the Shoreless Sea, a commander that can lower the casting cost of the first instant or sorcery spell you cast in a turn by a significant amount, allowing for a mana efficient spellslinger deck that can make good use of high mana cost spells. Yeeaahh a new deck teck 👍
soulscar mage seems like it would be a good upgrade. Plus, putting -1/-1 counters in an Ashling deck is what I would call a Lore win....... please someone get the pun
I’ve been waiting for this one she is a great card
Hey dude, keep the great work you do, your decks and videos are amazing \o/
Has this deck been tested?
Yay!!!
thanks for the deck idea - looking in the comments the deck has some flaws but still it looks fun - if i would i would throw 100 bucks total at it which cards would u swap/ take in - i would appreciate a moxfield link
And interesting finisher to look at, especially if you end up with lots of tokens, could be Nanogene conversion.
Inquisitor's Flail doesn't work here because of the way multiple prevention and replacement effects work. Your opponent could choose to apply the doubling effect after the prevention effect, netting zero additional cards milled. 616.1 If two or more replacement and/or prevention effects are attempting to modify the way an event affects an object or player, the affected object’s controller (or its owner if it has no controller) or the affected player chooses one to apply, following the steps listed below. If two or more players have to make these choices at the same time, choices are made in APNAP order (see rule 101.4). I choose to take no damage and then take double damage.
Terisian Mindbreaker would be a nice cheap addition for big mill, especially with unearth you are practically guaranteed to mill at least half an opponents deck.
Why not psychosis crawler? U draw a lot of card and with mindskinner on the battlefield , your opponent will mill card for each card u draw!
That is no damage but life loss, does not work.
Actually why not play Marvin murderous mimic? It doubles the mindskinner mill effects and gains the abilities of all your other mill creatures. Love the concept btw hope to see more!
Actually it's a replacement effect so no double mill but still generally a good card in the deck I'd think
Marvin get all the activated ability so doesn't stack with mindskinner. For what I remember activated ability are all those who read like " pay X : do this" or "tap : do that" for example so skills you have to activate by yourself (correct me if I'm wrong)
@@glaucoruzzetti9630 is correct. For me, the easiest way to identify an activated ability is simply the presence of a colon. Go to scryfall and put in this exact query into the search bar: o:": " game:paper -is:funny That will pull up all non-digital, non-silver bordered cards that have a colon in the text. Sometimes a card will create a token with an activated ability or give another permanent an activated ability, but the colon dividing cost and effect is always present. This is useful because some triggered abilities can ask you to pay a cost to get their effect, but because of the templating you won't get a colon in that text. While The Mindskinner's effect looks like a replacement effect at first blush, it's technically a "prevention effect." That probably won't come up too much, but this is commander, so expect corner cases and prepare for them. Replacement effects use the words "skip" or "instead." Look out for stuff like Inquisitor's Flail - which if you pull up The Mindskinner on EDHrec a non-zero amount of people are using together - which does functionally nothing for The Mindskinner. Because it doesn't say "instead," but rather "prevent" rather than doubling the damage a savvy opponent would simply apply the Flail after the prevention effect. People are also running Swords of this and That in The Mindskinner, which are also kept from activating because it is a Prevention Effect.
@@glaucoruzzetti9630 To be more specific, and activated ability is just any ability which has a colon separating it's cost from it's effect, which does include the examples you listed.
A really good Planeswalker for this deck is Grist, the Hunger Tide. He can provide self-mill, makes token blockers, can remove creatures, and most of all, when he's in the graveyard he counts as a Planeswalker AND a creature for Delirium. And he's like $1.
Or you can be a cheapskate ((like me)) and run cynical loner and spend the rest of the leftover money on a precon to take apart for value.
I tried to make a budget deck with him and ordered the card to a local shop. When I went to pick them up it cost me 150 instead of the 80$ i had guessed. The guy switched like half the cards for foiled or promos 😢
Im not sure why nobody uses buried alive with this commander. Cast, search for artifact creature + enchantnent creature+ search for land creature. Then buried alive goes to GY and you have 5 types in GY for delirum and Winters hand size effect.
love it
makes sense to include the caveat about shipping; every deck costs twice as much as the decklist will show you lol
Great video info! Horrible, nonsensical flute music in the background unfortunately.
Nuts!
Doubling season ?
I know this is budget. BUT WHY all the rocks and the bauble when you are in geeen? And don’t tell me ‘Sol Ring into Signet T1’. The rarity of it happening is where near the vulnerability of a bunch of rocks instead of Rampant Growth’s class of 2-drop sorceries. They’re all affordable and Three Visits “busts” the bank at ~$4. This build is one Bane of Progress or Austere Command away from getting WRECKED by one card.
I pulled an alt art eluge! May play this.
Nice walkthrough of the deck, I might make it
Nice deck tech.
Doesn't bell ringer go infinite with the commander? 1) Bell ringer enters and all of your creatures untap. 2) all of your non token creatures can tap to copy bell ringer 3) Token bell ringer enters and you get to untap all of your creatures. 4) loop steps 2&3 until youre satisfied.
now add scry cards , tunnel vision and laboratory maniac
Great budget adds, while not goblins are, Devilish Valet. He gets BONKERS FAST with Krenko. And Molten Gatekeeper as a cheap Impact Tremors effect. Agate Instigators is a bit more expensive but its basically a full blown Purphoros.
It’s really not a budget creature, (though you can snag one from eBay for 3-4$ below the market 16$), but Delney, Streetwise Lookout has been a monster performer for me in this deck. Every time Lathiel does their thing (so long as there are no counters on it), Delney effectively doubles how many counters Lathiel is placing. Further, your Soul Sisters going off twice each time they’d activate is a shockingly large amount of life piling up w/ the +1 more life effects like Cleric Class and Angel of Vitality. In the case of Guide of Souls, increasing the # of times you’re granting flying and a couple +1/+1s to something has broken stalemates for me. Delney makes sure you’re always hitting those, “If you gain 3 Life, X happens. If you gain 5 life, Y happens” effect targets, which really snowballs. Best of all, Delney is a 3-drop, so the likes of Sun Titan or Celestine, the Living Saint, even Cleric Class easily returns them to work, forcing your opponent to torch exile-based removal on a utility 3-drop. If you can afford a bit of an upgrade, or just maybe have a Delney you forgot about among your MKM chaff, I highly recommend the inclusion.
Would Solemnity work with this deck, as a way to prevent the finality counters?
Yes
Dang... :^) Aclazotz got expenchos...
I know it may be about reanimanting low value cost bats, but I wouls add Skeletal Vampire: 4BB 3/3 Flying. Enters with 2 bat tokens. You may pay 3BB and sac a bat to make 2 more bat tokens. Or sac a bat to regenerate the Vampire. I know, janky. But it's a token creator!
zoraline has a very interesting secondary effect in her reanimation, so i feel like straight bat tribal isn’t really the best way to build her.
The bats!
Honse...
THAT'S NUTS!
With as much food focus as this deck has, I'm surprised you didn't mention Academy Manufacturer. Great budget list for Camellia! Can speak from experience that Hazel's Brewmaster puts in a surprising amount of work! ^^
Holy cow!
Excellent list! With Bloomburrow out, could you make some lists using Bloomburrow commanders? I'd love to see what you can do with Bria, Riptide Rogue!
This deck is actually busted 😱. Played against it and couldn't believe how good it was. 10/10 recommend!
Very well produced and thorough explanations of the cards and synergies! Great Video man I'm gonna try this deck out online before I buy it, you easily earned yourself a sub dude!
Not sure if anyone would ever read this, but. I really love Minthara and I built deck like this(not 100% same, but literally 99%) and I don’t understand how to win with it. Yep, we have huge bonus dmg with this exp tokens, but enemies have lost of their own creatures and stuff. So I don’t really feel what is the wincon, appreciate any help
Hi, I am a huge fan of Minthara in Commander, and she is one of my most played decks in my play group, so I can pass on some helpful tips. Generally this deck wants to go wide and develop a board presence that sticks around. There are a lot of cards not in the deck list in this video that help with that. For instance, cards like Elenda's Hierophant or Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia generate either a huge amount of tokens at once or a singe token every turn. Proliferation helps a lot too, as they can increase the experience counters. I tend to treat Minthara in this deck more like an enchantment than a creature, as I think swinging with her is a mistake some people make. At the end of this comment, I will post my deck list. I'm not sure what your budget is, but if you are willing to spend a little more money, you can make a very strong and competitive deck for under $80. @@doncheetoes3784 man I cant believe that you replied me! In fact the deck I've built is your deck from mtggoldfish. Thanks for your reply! And I wanted to discuss the deck further, can we do it?
@@doncheetoes3784 Are there any reason you use those 2 mana creatures that create a token on death instead of those with 1 mana? Like Greedy Freebooter and Doomed Traveler?
@@herrscherofshrimps1451 its more of a preference thing honestly. The two drops that make tokens on death I think have a little more versatility, like making a 1/1 Lifelink with Martyr of Dusk compared to Doomed Travelers 1/1 with no abilities. The 2 mana creatures also usually have a little better board presence early on. If you like the one drops more, they still work perfectly fine :)

why is this not amass 1 snail
Maybe to avoid amass synergies?
you can play with changelings 🫣
What cards would you put out of the deck for the upgrades Im kinda new but I like the deck and angels

Amazing creation, EDH Toolbox. I tapped that thumbs up button on your segment. Excited to see your next upload from you. Always keep the awesome work.
Pretty solid deck on a budget. The only thing that could use some improvement are the creatures between 2:10 and 2:35. they are just stat sticks which isn't enough in commander. Some alternatives are: Surrak, the Hunt Caller Polygoyf Froghemoth Hivespine Wolverine Loyal Guardian Scion of Calamity Bramble Sovereign Verdurous Gearhulk You can cut Prowling Serpopard and use Destiny Spinner instead for counter protection just to have more budget and it's not worth the $2 for the fect in a budget deck.
