Wow, this episode is a powerful reminder that feeling 'stuck' isn’t always about a lack of motivation-it’s often about being too comfortable. It’s easy to get caught up in success and lose sight of what got us there in the first place. John’s story really hits home, showing how complacency can sneak up even when everything seems to be going well.

This is a key area were I differ a little when it comes to leadership roles. What is presented here is the traditional leadership paradigm where the employee seeks out a leadership role for a variety of possible reasons. The Renaissance leadership Odyssey (RLO) 😂approach defines the role of leadership differently than most organizations do in today’s leadership paradigm. RLO helps the organization’s senior leadership define the leadership role to go beyond a titled position. The role expands to include other responsibilities such as community building within the organization and creating a mentally healthy relationship with employees and leadership through effective interrpersonal communication. The leaderrship role is clearly defined to include functional responsibilties but epands the role to addditional collegial responsibilities that extend beyond servant leadership. RLO encourages Senior leadership to take accountability for identifying leaders, developing them, selecting them, and placing them as opposed to posting an open position for employees to apply. Using RLO there should never be an open leadership position in the organization. Leaders are identified and the organization spends months and years grooming the leader for a leadership position to include RLO’s three pillars that leaders must master; their pschological leadership personality, effective interpersonal communication, and Emotional Intelligence application. These three areas are developed simultaneously over the course of a potential leaders development. There may be several people in training for leadership in all functional areas of the organization.

Exposure to other leaders is an excellent way to center yourself and evolve a psychological leadership profile that will help you connect with others to establish a clear role of leadership that inspires others to follow you as a leader. Much of what I heard in this session highly depends on effective interpersonal communication. Interpersonal connection is like the nervous system is to our body. It touches everything and impacts everything. In your quest for leadership, you should understand the elements of effective interpersonal communication. As you are mentored or you provide mentoring, you are optimizing communication in a way that significantly influences others in an inspiring manner. More podcast like these John will help develop future leaders, great job.

So many of us get stuck in the preparation phase, waiting for the 'perfect' moment, but the real magic happens when we move to action. Thanks for the practical steps to close that gap and for the reminder that things don’t need to be perfect to get started. Powerful message! You can give positive feedback while in the same breath voicing your concerns. For example, if my toddler is being grumpy, I’ll say something like “you’re such a nice person! Nice people don’t hit,”. 😂
