My wife and I have visited Frankfort, Michigan a number of times over the years, a community we love to visit so dearly. For well over 10 years, if not 15, we have observed a fellow pulling a cart that can hold a lot of cans. We've always called him "The Can Man." He's an extremely cordial man who can tell you about everything going on in Frantfort. It's hard for us to understand him because he talks so fast and we have poor hearing. But he loves be talked to. We've asked him WHY he spends so much time and energy retrieving empty cans from waste bins all over town, and he's told us: "To make room for MORE empty cans that people throw away." So if you ever get to Frankfort, Michigan ... keep an eye out for "The Can Man." Tell him how thankful you are for keeping the city clean of discarded beer and pop cans. He'll smile and thank you for taking the time to say so. We think it makes him feel valuable ... something EVERYONE wants to be made to feel.
I met Johns sister on the plane going back to Detroit. What a great lady, she told me all about John. I to was home in Charlevoix seeing my sister, she losted her battle with cancer while is was there. I was very glad to have sat by her on the plane,it sure is a small world
