Time
If I take nothing else away from my first year of college, it is the understanding of how valuable time is...so use it wisely.

So, this was originally meant for THAC XIII, theme: "A Peculiar Event." However, due to having a job and lots going on in life, I didn't finish in time, but decided to finish it anyways...so here it is, extremely late. Hope you enjoy! :) Music: MachinimaSound.com - Fields of Green To learn more about brickfilms, visit bricksinmotion.com/

My first brickfilm using a dslr (the canon t5i). It was not originally meant to be a silent film, which may explain any awkwardness in it. Also, the focus was not on the storyline, but on getting used to a new camera. And on the sets. Hope you enjoy! :) Music: Kevin MacLeod; incompetech.com/ - Stoic Morning To learn more about brickfilms, visit bricksinmotion.com/
FTC Team 5215 Promote Video

This is the Promote video that I put together for the 2014-2015 FTC season. I used stop-motion animation to create a brickfilm that portrayed the message: "Why I chose FIRST." It won the Promote Award at the Alaska State Championship, as well as at the West Super-Regional Championship! Personally, I think that the main character needed some sort of conflict to go against in order to test his 'courage.' Something to hold him back from 'going home.' Overall though, I enjoyed the film and everything else was pretty great.

  • @vnanimation

    Wouldn't the sun and moon rotate with the camera?

    • @RoboticAnimations
      @RoboticAnimations 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +vnanimation I thought the same thing at first. However, the sun (in reality) rises in the east and sets in the west, due to the earth rotating roughly a half rotation. In that same half rotation, the camera moves half a rotation around the set, meaning that it keeps up with the sun. Same goes for the moon. It's kinda hard to explain, but hopefully this makes enough sense.

  • @LegoStax
    @LegoStax 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is really awesome! The well-executed simplicity is what makes it so. What color did you use for the green screen?

    • @RoboticAnimations
      @RoboticAnimations 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lego Stax I used a huge blue tri-fold poster for the chroma key. A green screen would not have worked, since the tree was green for part of the video. Glad you enjoyed it.

    • @LegoStax
      @LegoStax 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robotic Animations I asked for that reason. That a green wouldn't have worked. Since I've been trying keying (Keylight in After Effects) in stop-motion, I haven't had a whole lot of success. What do you use for lighting? Do you have a separate lamp dedicated to lighting the green screen? White bulbs I presume?

    • @RoboticAnimations
      @RoboticAnimations 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lego Stax I went ahead and added a link in the description with Behind he Scenes photos. I used 3 Ottlites, which cast full spectrum light, with none only lighting the screen. The largest part in this was that I did a huge amount of testing and setup. I used heliumfrog to pull a rough key, so that I could figure out the best positioning of the lights. I also recommend that you keep the screen away from the set, to reduce spill. Then, play around with the settings in Keylight bunch, until you optimize the key and spill reduction. I'm sure there are tutorials for using Keylight. Hope this helps.

    • @LegoStax
      @LegoStax 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robotic Animations Thank you very much. I already know a goodish bit of Keylight, and I've kept the green screen away from the set to prevent that spill/shadow, but I didn't think about doing a rough key in Dragonframe first for testing. Thank you very much!
