Thats why I couldn't ever watch modern corrie in the same way again. I used to love watching and knowing thats where some iconic characters/actors from yesteryear had an argument or that's where..happened. The new set doesn't have that 'classic' feel to it.

The Stables was a real ( private ) bar for Granada staff.

I think ITV missed a trick by not using the old set for a prequal series of The Street. The life and loves of a young Elsie Tanner!

You can still see part of the old set. As the camera pans right around 0.44 you can see the view as if you had looked through the viaduct.

Esholt just outside of Bradford is worth a visit. The village provided the exterior shots for Emmerdale Farm prior to moving to Harewood House.

I knew the buildings from the set had been demolished, but I'm shocked that the entire thing has been tarmacked over now. Back in 1989 when Steph Barnes' uncle built the new buildings from the hairdressers to the garage he inexplicably built a large cobbled area between the garage and Gail's house, and it had embedded railway sleepers in it for no apparent reason. In fact that wasn't for any reason that made sense to the storyline, but because the land had been a railway yard before Granada bult the Coronation set there, and the previous community centre and factory had been fake fronts, so whatever was behind the fake fronts had remained unchanged since (I presume) Victorian times, and by 1989 wasn't allowed to be altered so had to be implausibly incorporated into the onscreen new development that year. So I'm a little puzzled that that bit of the land wasn't allowed to be changed in any way in 1989, to the point that they had to convince viewers that a late 80s yuppy developer for some reason laid cobbles and railway sleepers on a modern new build development, but by 2017 it was completely fine to just tarmac that area after all.

Its up there with knocking the original Cavern down,absolute clowns.

Originally a street in Salford was used for the exterior shots, which was demolished in the nineties. The purpose built set did form part of the popular Granada Studios Tour and I was there with hundreds of fans going up and down the street.

This was the pub front used in the early outdoor set days as from memory there was no upstairs, only a small round window …. I may be wrong though

At least we can still see where it was by the landmarks at either end! Most places are completely erased from existence!
