Newcastle in Christmas spirit: Watch the famous Fenwick Christmas windows
No Christmas in Newcastle is complete without a visit to the famous Fenwick Christmas Window on Northumberland Street. Since 1971, this special tradition has brought visitors together to enjoy a festive and surprising experience. For many, the unveiling moment in November is the start of the festive season.
This year, Fenwick will take you on a magical journey through The Twelve Days of Christmas, imagined by renowned illustrator Chris Riddell. The story follows Foggy the Partridge, an endearing character who is on his way to fulfil his Christmas wish. Each scene in the shop window tells a piece of his adventure, with beautifully designed sets and traditional mechanical movements.
The window displays are framed by a unique performance of The Twelve Days of Christmas, sung by Tyneside band The Unthanks. The Fenwick Christmas Window will be on display throughout the festive period.
Of course, after visiting Fenwick, there is still time to see the rest of Newcastle in Christmas spirit.

Explore the Magic of Caldey Island, off the Coast of Wales
Nice video. Strange thing, the cars are boarding on the side of the ferry.
Never thought about it like that, but indeed, normally it's at the front or rear of the ship. The campers, caravans and trucks do have a different entrance.
Agreed, such a gorgeous place! Full of historic beauty. Thank you for the calming video!
Glad you like it! Thank you for your reaction.
Been to ripon cathedral and its beautiful would go again
These vast, expensive stone piles are an undoubted part of our heritage. The fact that their importance in an increasingly secular society has shifted downwards cannot be overlooked. The big question is how they will be supported now and in the future. One thing is sure: a belief on the part of the clergy that they occupy an elevated position based on divine right will not hold water. People nowadays have more disposable money, more mobility, more time, and look for entertainment and involvement. Cathedrals are ideal vehicles for festive activities, concerts, exhibitions, etc.
How long time for boarding with car by the ship 2 hours ?
Check-In closes 90 minutes before departure time, so 2 hours would be fine. Take into account any traffic jams along the way.
thats our camper you pass as you are just leaving the terminal area :)
That's also a coincidence! It's funny that you spotted this. Hope you had a great trip.
I’m lucky enough to live just west of Lanercost. It’s always interesting to see your own locality through the lens of a visitor 👍. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment. You live in a beautiful area, glad to see you appreciate it so much.
What a great journey you've had! I must say that absolutely love it. I appreciate all your hard work to make this fantastic video possible and for sharing it with us. If possible I'd like to know how did you sort out accommodation during the 5 day trip? Did you use hotels or slept in tents? Just thinking how to prepare to a trip like that. All the best and hoping to see some nice trips in the future 👍👍🤩🤩🌷🌷
Glad you like it. We first looked at the itinerary and what we wanted to see (museums). Then we estimated how long we would spend on these sights. Together with the number of kilometres, you then know how often you want to stop for the night and roughly where. We're quite late in booking, so there wasn't a whole lot of choice everywhere, so then it's good to see where you can sleep. We cycled for 5 days, but the trip took longer. We slept in Ravenglass for 2 nights before we left. Then in 1 night in Maryland, then 2 nights in Carlisle (to see the city), and another 1 night in Haltwhistle, Corbridge and South Shields. We found the accommodations through Booking and Visit Northumberland. After this trip, we cycled on to Durham, but that's off this route. Do you want to cycle Hadrian's Cycleway as well?
@@britblog I must admit that Your journey (and viedo) inspired me to cycle Hadrian's Way. And I'm one of those lucky people who live fairly close to HC! Unfortunately, In my case it will be solo journey as I don't know anyone who would be willing to cycle so many miles.I've become keen on cycling though I don't go to the gym but I'd have to prepare myself, for such a long journey, so likely I'll hit the road next year, fingers crossed! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and for tips as well!
That's great to hear! We didn't do a lot of mileage during our cycling days because we also liked to visit museums. Only the second cycling day was 100 km (62 miles), though over pretty flat terrain. A good basic level of fitness is nice to have, though the route doesn't have very many steep hills.
Hi i want a use some parts of this video but not for a comercial use. Just personnal :)
Can you please email me about this using this contact form: britblog.nl/contact/
Could have been very informative and interesting, but turned out to be someone’s holiday snaps , boring
It's a pity you can't appreciate it, I put a lot of time and effort into making an informative video about this cycle route. Did you watch it with subtitles? There's a lot of information in there.
@@britblogignore him, I enjoyed it, nice job.
Thank you, glad you like it :)
What a strange thing to say. I think most people would find the views from the handlebars and additional drone footage both extremely watchable, enjoyable and informative as a visual guide to this route. I loved the quietness of this gentle film and don’t need any narration - the film is excellent.
@@pootlingalong8928 Thank you, very kind of you.
Thanks ☺️
Stunning footage what drone were you using
Thank you, I use the DJI Mini 2. Love that drone. Do you fly a drone yourself?
@@britblog yes I have the mini 3 pro and a Facebook group called dronecam worldwide
That's a nice one. I joined the group.
@@britblog Thanks
Nice film - love the comfortable Dutch-style bikes! 🤗👍🏻
Thank you, we like them too 😉. One is an e-bike (my dads), the other a normal one (mine).
Thank you for posting this lovely video of your HCW trip. This is easily one of the best videos I've seen of the route. The videography (especially the drone footage) is superb. I now have a good idea of what to expect when I do this tour.
Thank you for your nice comment! Hope you will have a great trip!
As an architectural historian I rate Durham Cathedral as one of the greatest buildings in the World. The effect as you enter the Nave, looking East is extraordinary.
I'm not a specialist, just a lover, but I agree!
Nice views of 1066 country, especially Hastings and Bexhill, my favourite part of England.
Thank you, it is indeed beautiful in that area.
Brilliant video.
Thank you, ever visit the museum?
Excellent footage. It's a fabulous cathedral. 👌 New sub from me 😊❤
Thank you, and welcome to my channel :)
Every spring I take a walk through this district, its bigger than it appears in this video. Its absolutely gorgeous, peaceful, soul enriching and extraordinary for me because I remember when it was a slum.
You're right, it is a large area, lots to explore. I've got a 6km walk on my website (in Dutch) and it doesn't cover everything.
Beautiful
Thank you :)
nice
Thanx
Hello. Can I use parts of this video in a music video?
Awesome! Nice flight! 😍🔥
Thank you, it's a beautiful location to fly
Good and stable flight! You are a good drone operator, I could enjoy watching this nice video!
Thank you, do you also fly yourself?
@@britblog Yes, I do!
