Nymph of the Luo River (洛神赋图) : Another Version
Nymph of the Luo River（洛神赋图）is one of the best paintings by Gu Kaizhi (顧愷之) (344-406), the founder of Chinese paintings. This painting, created nearly 1,700 years ago, is widely recognized as one of the top 10 masterpieces of Chinese art history. Nymph of the Luo River illustrates a long poem written by the poet and prince Cao Zhi (192-232). Unfortunately, only a copy of his handscroll is extant. Nymph of the Luo River was reproduced by Ding Guanpeng (丁观鹏) in the 18th century. It is true that this version is excellent, but this reminds us how wonderful the original work used to be.
