What If? David Schnaufer 4
A brief peek at the life of mountain dulcimer virtuoso David Schnaufer from his biography, Pluck: The Extraordinary Life and Times of David Schnaufer.
David made music history in 1984 when he arrived in Nashville, determined to promote the mountain dulcimer as the most country of all instruments. Previously derided a primitive instrument from Appalachia, David changed Music City's perception of this humble instrument by showing it belongs in every music genre, from American roots music to pop, from jazz to classical, from soothing lullabies for children to hard rock. Read about his fascinating story and the little known history behind the Dulcimer Boomers of David's generation in Pluck. Visit Davidschnauferpluck.com for more information.

Linda, I'm honored to be part of this. You've done a beautiful job. I've been out of commission for a year or so but am getting back on track and look forward to connecting in the future. Congratulations on your beautiful work.

I just finished this most extraordinary book about a most extraordinary man. I play an MD ( not very well) and I always hear how "easy" they are to play, simple and easy are light years apart. Listen to anything that David played and hear an amazing instrument. He left too early.

Sorry to reply a wee bit late; just saw this. I'm so glad you enjoyed Pluck and hope you're playing lots of music on your mountain dulcimer!

Starry Lullaby. He and his good friend/songwriter Herb McCullough wrote it. I am glad you like it; I love it. This version is from David's CD, "Uncle Dulcimer" which is hard to find now. I just looked on Amazon and it has two for sale at an incredibly good price. Good Luck!
