    Great video! I’ve been training since 1999 and the Jit Tek is probably my second favorite kick. I’ve trained both “Concepts” (Inosanto lineage) and “Original” Jeet Kune Do (Sifu Jerry Poteet lineage) and can honestly say, “Original” Jeet Kune Do is actually Jun Fan Gung Fu. Jeet Kune Do is a concept. Not only that, ALL the techniques and exactly how Sigung Bruce Lee taught them are still taught by Sifu Dan Inosanto at his academy. Why do you guys thing EVERY student continued to train with Sifu Inosanto AND accept certifications from him, including Ted Wong. When people make remarks like that, they are honestly disrespecting Sigung Bruce’s wishes. Sigung Bruce not only made Sifu Inosanto an instructor, of which 3 were made and the other instructor, Sifu Taky Kimura, has nothing but great things to say about Sifu Inosanto and how & what he teaches. Sifu Inosanto is also the only instructor to receive three certifications from Bruce Lee.

    Great video. Is it best to align your shoulders when throwing a jab so that you are more bladed with a farther reach? Or be more squared in front of the opponent? Thanks

    Do you find kicking with the toe puts strain on the ankle? Also, do you find it's hard on your toes - especially when you hit a knee or an elbow (Versus using the instep). Very nice loose left kick - btw.

    • @l2a3sterling
      @l2a3sterling 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      One advantage i see is the extra reach allows you to transition from fouette to chasse/reverse without getting jammed.

    It is great...always...to have a fellow martial artist who invites you to follow...than many who lecture to you...and many of them pot-bellied who cannot perform what they tell you! Look at Japanese sensei they are always found in front of their students giving examples of kata or anything to follow!

    maybe consider trying triplets - they tend to throw people who aren't hip to the rhythm off more

  • @SaltyMusicOne

    What you are missing here is are triplets - all of these rhythms are doubles or halves- you get a bit of it in the non-western music, but you can get a metronome to help using it without it.

      i think taekwondo really emphasizes the chamber before the kick , however in savate you kick from where ur foot is from rest. In an interview, Dan Inosanto said that Bruce Lee loved how savate practitioners boxed with their feet. Which is a definite influence on Bruces pendulum step fast kicks having that fencing attack retreat nature.

    • @michaelterrell5061
      @michaelterrell5061 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MELLON HEAD Bruce took a very large influence from savate but his oblique kick was from wing chun. Also thanks for the help.

      Main difference: Savate kicks use boots, TKD is barefoot. this changes the weighting somewhat, and the alignment of the foot as the kick lands. Savate literally means 'old shoe'. Second difference: the fouetté trajectory must be horizontal, and this is not the case for TKD.

    Please note cocking the shoulder before the jab to get power is an alternative to using the hips to get power, but at the expense of telegraphing the jab, which means a trained fighter may see the jab coming and prepare to defend/evade/counter your jab. But cocking the shoulder is a nice way to get extra power out of the jab when the opportunity presents itself.
