    Thank you for the video. It is possible to modify in the input file the element type because the AC3D8 have the same number of nodes as the CIN3D8. what if i want to use the quadratic infinite elements CIN3D12R or CIN3D18R? and does the thickness of the infinite media have influence on the damping?

    • @ehsansadeghi4486
      @ehsansadeghi4486 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      what you want to try is somehow double precision in results. personally i haven't tried to that in a project because 8 node elements seemed to be satisfactory, but from technical coding point of view it is possible. try it. the method that i have introduced is some kind of trick.

    • @ehsansadeghi4486
      @ehsansadeghi4486 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      an about thickness! i can say no, unless you make your boundaries suitable enough for damping. the overall prospect is having high aspect ratio in infinite element

    Hello, I have some questions about your video 1. Are you using Dynamic Explicit? 2. What material do you use for the deformable shell? 3. What kind of force or displacement or velocity do you use for the top rigid? 4. Why does your time period in step just have only around 0.07 seconds? It really make me wonder, because I think that scenario doesn't exist in reality or I get something wrong with simulation. 0.07 is less than a wink of human. Hope to hear from you soon Thank you so much

    • @ehsansadeghi4486
      @ehsansadeghi4486 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Thanks for your message. Problem was solved by Explicit solver of Abaqus. 0.07 seconds is somehow artificial time for this problem. increasing time step would lead to more statically determined solution for this simulation, however it will increase computational time of simulation. Good balance between choosing appropriate time step and results can be carried out by analysing Energy quantities. both BC condition can be used, however using displacement BC would make more physical sense. choosing time step requires wise selection and it is somehow problem of trial and error to pick suitable time step. Time step here doesn't demonstrate real time of bending, rather it has a computational point of view.

    • @minhly650
      @minhly650 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've just been doing some assigments with Abaqus/Explicit recently. When simulating impact between a rigid body and a deformable one at high speed, I set the time period short, It is understandable. But when I was doing Deep Drawing (the time period must be over 2 seconds, I assume), It looks like Abaqus/Explicit doesn't let set time period over 1 seconds, because there were always errors when I summited. On the contrary, Abaqus/Standard seem to let us set time period pretty long. Time period in step really confused me some way If possible, could you clarify it for me? I really appreciate it.

    • @ehsansadeghi4486
      @ehsansadeghi4486 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a difference between Static(or quasi-static) and Dynamic problems that are solved with Explicit solvers. Normally in static problems time step is artificial. it must be big enough to allow static determination of problem, while in Dynamic problems like impact, it must be real time. However in most cases big time steps result in long computational effort. Therefor using Mass-Scaling factors are recommended (with caution!) in these kinds of problems .

      Thank you for your explanation Just one more question. In incrementation tab of Static, General type. there is increment size with Initial, Minimun and Maximun. What do they mean? I basically leave it as default when doing Static, General

    • @ehsansadeghi4486
      @ehsansadeghi4486 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      incrementation is same as "dt" in differential equations. loosely speaking, as much as dt is small, finer and more precise answer we have. however these incrementation have specific limits.

    • @ehsansadeghi4486

      Hi, I would recommend you to read fundamentals of FEM before using any FE Solver. Infinite Elements are working as a boundary conditions (roughly speaking) and is not needed to assign other Bfs to constraint the nodes. Acceleration should be assigned to solid bed, i.e bottom of the soil medium. This acceleration should be evolved till surface of the soil. Be careful about using the correlated acceleration data. Should you have any further questions, don't hesitate write in comments.
