    I have a kubota L series 47 hp and I have a backhoe attachment. I have been doing a few jobs and making a few dollars and making my own logging road. I have some some videos on my channel with it. They work great and after about 20 hours of practice you can do a lot of work with them. I do almost always cut the tree down and process it up then dig out the stump thats because I am an experience logger but to each is own. Thanks for sharing a great video. .

    By not felling the tree first you are able to use the tree height as a lever to help break the tap root

    Is she barefoot on the tractor? That's a real country girl if she is. Nice operating.

    Does Kubota offer an implement for cutting out roots? It looks like a single tooth hook. That thing looks like it was really straining. How much breakout force is listed for the backhoe?

    You I'd a great job. I used to operate heavy equipment or a living and no matter how big the machine was there were still times it wasn't big enough. People need to understand that your not owing to break any Speed records. Your doing it because you love to do it and good or you . Enjoyed seeing this. Thanks.

    I rented a old 20 H.P. Yanmar backhoe to dig a hole with the small 6.5 foot hoe & when I hit tree roots it was a pain getting through them it didn't have enough power I had to cut them with a axe. The next time I rented a backhoe for work in the yard I got a Kubota L48 I didn't have any problems getting through the roots with that baby & it had a 11.5' reach. But I may have worked it for 16 hrs. a day, but it was a lot of fun & therapy! Great video, thanks for posting it!

      A 20 hp is a bit light but the trick is to scrape the ditch from around the roots then they are not all that strong. Also go far enough away from the stump so the root is small enough to brake after you take the soil from around it. Take care.

    how long does it take per sump on average?

    David.... it is always funny to me to read peoples comments, about how you "should" have done it, or the better way to get the job done! I know exactly what you are talking about when you say "therapy" Doing this kind of work, trimming trees, and burning brush requires just enough attention to keep you alert and safe, yet it makes all your other troubles and issues disappear for a while! I'll work 5 times harder in the woods than at work, but get tons of stress relief! Good video!

    Thanks kdidl. I actually tipped the machine over last fall. Scared me big time. But no harm to anything, except my pride. Careful out there.

    Thanks for posting this. I have the John Deere version of this tractor (2305). I'm looking at getting the backhoe attachment for it. Looks like I could expect similar results judging by the fact that weights and horsepower of the machines are about the same. Looks like you could do about anything with it if your not in a hurry?

    All I can say is that if your happy doing it that way and as you said it gives you therapy, then by all means keep doing it, you seem to be pretty content so good work and best of luck aginst those roots,lol!

    @kb384us - ha ha. I'll keep my desk job. I'm sure my video editing - and my backhoe skills are both lacking.

  • @davelsell
    @davelsell 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @khazenstab - Thanks for the comments, but as I said above, working in the woods is my personal therapy. Here in WA State, if you aren't attacking the jungle, the jungle wins. A cat would be quicker, but my little tractor BX-24 allows me to pick what I take out and what I leave behind. I don't mind the time.

  • @davelsell
    @davelsell 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @risingbullproduction - I tip the tree over to remove the stump. The weight of the tree flips the roots out and the ground is then clear. It's tedious, the tractor is small, but it's my personal therapy. In other words, I like playing in the woods. Someday these particular woods will be clear to walk. Currently working on a mess of vine maples - the mother of all jungles.

    Hi. I liked your video, so forgive my ignorance. Why not just cut it down? Seems like a lot of extra work (do you need to fill in the hole?), but please, could you tell me why you do it this way? Thanks.
