2024 Tacoma: Upgrade the looks on OEM rims!!! Budget modification for all black rims
There’s no need to change out your OEM rims if you add these black vinyl decals. Covers the shiny metallic part and turns your rim all black. $40 modification
Needs:
rubbing alcohol
Paper towels
Soapy mix, 95% water/soap ratio. I used TV screen cleaner spray and it worked like a champ.

Where do you get these parts?

For a few bucks more, the best option are rock-sliders.
@@deantrainr facts, the ones that double as steps are the best
That should not rotate like that.
Channel brackets are upside down.
Hey do you recommend the premium package?
So I hate the price, but there are some good things w it. This Tacoma feels more like a truck w more “blind” spots. The extra cameras really help backing up, and off-roading seeing what’s in front when you can’t see over the hood. I like the seat coolers and brake controller. Things I could prob do without are the power tailgate and moonroof. Moonroof is cool but not something I need.
What’s the purpose of the two additional bolts for the cross bar? I guess those are needed just for the TRD skid plate? I ordered a MCX skid plate and Cat protector. Ordered the 24 Taco beam from RCI…
@@caseymccoy2692 it’s just because the TRD skid plate has 6x mounting points and the flimsy OEM one the taco comes w only has 4x, thus you need the 2x more bolts
@ Thank you for the response, appreciate it….
Very good video friend, one question is it compatible with Toyota Tacoma Limetd 2024
Thanks, the skid plate is compatible. The x-bar isn’t needed if you have the hybrid limited.
My Tacoma is a gas, not a hybrid.
I have to put the bar so that the plate fits
@@samuelperezhernandez4579 so the plate will fit without it but it won’t be as secure. Without it you can only install the rear 4x bolts. It’d leave the front 2x open, but if you don’t plan on off-roading it might be ok, I know some people that just left it at that but to me what’s another $50 for the x-bar to insure my truck is protected.
Thank you very much brother
Great Video. Thanks for all the tips!
Hello! Are you interested in working with us to try our Rav4 floor mats and help us make a video?

Hi. We sent you an email.
If you don't see our email, pls check your sp/am inbox!
I got the RCI bar but it seems that on my TRD Sport I dont need it as it already have the mounting points for the front of the skid plate.
@@ez-ny interesting… do you have the hybrid ? I wonder if hybrids have it already…Thanks for letting me know
@@DatTacomaDad yep, indeed the Hybrid. But your video helps a lot. Thank you!
@@ez-ny appreciate the feedback. It’ll help me get the right info out. 🍻
I just purchased one this Black Friday; looking forward to getting rid of the weird OEM shifter. I've never been one to swap shift knobs; I have been pretty much OK with every OEM one I've encountered until I saw this one. Leaving a comment to say hello to one of the few other manual 24 Tacoma owners. There are dozens of us!
Hello! glad to know I’m in good company. Had a 93 4Runner stick and been missing it but this is a solid substitute #savethemanuals
That was very helpful. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Bruh I have the blue crush. I really don’t like these rims with silver or all black.. just the design of it being 18 inch. I am just waiting on something to go on sale at Toyota for the all black trd wheels that comes in with the xp package.. good job on yours though 👍🏼
Yea idk why they didn’t just make them all black from the start. G luck getting some on these sales
Thank you brother.
Have you taken it through a car wash? That is my concern. I went the plasti dip route and it did not hold up so I am thinking about this route.
@@RightWingDad honestly I don’t do car washes, always hand wash. I have it ceramic coated and don’t want it damaged by dirty brushes. I’d be skeptical if it could survive… Plasti didn’t survive car wash?
0w20 is like water. I would never use it. 5w30 Amsoil is my reccomendation. I dont give a shit what the manufacturer reccomends.
Great Video, Thank you! Got same cross bar for my TRD Sport 4x4, No instructions at all. Same for Skid Plate - NOTHING!
@@raulecheverria9688 solid! Glad it helped.
Where did you get the RCI x beam from?
As much as I like to pick on the short kings.. they can save a lot of money not needing to buy a Tundra. Being 6ft+ has been an expensive problem.
😅 save money on airline legroom too $$$
@ 😂😂😂
I did mine too. Same color as spokes. Looks good and last pretty long. This was a moth ago with our rains here it’s still looking good.
Nice good to hear! My friend has his still on and been couple years 🤞
Keep us updated as to the durability of the decals.
nice video. The oil filter is so small. I mean, it looks as big as my ATV oil filter. Wow... IMO, Toyota should have a slightly larger oil filter.
Thanks, only time will tell
That's the same filter for my '24 Corolla 2.0L Seems a bit small for your engine, but I'm not a Toyota engineer

Will this skid plate eliminate the low whistling sound coming from the OEM skid plate after the air dam is removed? Air is funneled into the front of the OEM skid plate the way it's configured. And, can you reinstall the air dam with this skid plate installed?
I don’t notice the whistling but haven’t really from the beginning when I removed the air dam. You CAN reinstall the air dam w this skid plate
@@DatTacomaDad I assume you used the OEM bolts from the OEM skid plate and used them further back? I am getting ready to install a Trailhunter skid plate on my limited.
@ yes i used the same bolts. 2x for the frame in front of the oil pan and 2x on the frame behind. Do you need more bolts for the trailhunter? Does it go further back?
@@DatTacomaDad Shows a total of 6 bolts. I will need to get the 2 bolts you show in your video. Not sure if it goes further back according to pics they look close in length. I have the crossmember on order.
@@DatTacomaDad Finally got the Trailhunter skid plate installed, Had to wait on RCI to get me the cross member. The bolts you used, I used the same except I used flange bolts. I could not find them locally in stainless. I will clear coat them to prevent rust. Great looking plate. I just use my factory one on my 2024 Off-Road since the metal plate is so heavy for me to manipulate as in the 3rd generation. I did install red recovery hooks to offset the factory black skid plate. Bonoboproducts makes nice recovery hooks.
@@Jay-nc7vk good to know. Red adds a good pop. I was thinking of spray painting the skid plate black too but keep the red letters.

I love my 24 Tacoma. People need to realize the engineers designed this truck for overlanding enthusiasts in mind. Not soccer moms. Why focus on making the back seating area bigger, when the majority of Tacoma owners in the past deleted their seats anyway. New Land Cruiser would fit a family better
Soccer Dad 4eva!
Spin on filter is almost enough of an incentive to trade my 23 off road in for a 24. 😂
As ECO friendly as they made this truck the metal filter was a huge win for DIY 😅 but that ‘23 won’t let you down…
What pad are you using for your surfboard on the bed extender?

@@DatTacomaDad any on island? Oahu preferably

How is the truck doing overall? Running good? Any issues?
I’ve only had one “issue” where the backup cameras would not display. The CarPlay worked but when it switched to camera view it was blank. Turned car off and then back on and it hasn’t been back in 1k miles. What id expect with any computer power cycle fixes it. Truck runs great and I have the manual that was an Apr 24 build. Way more oomf than my 2d gen. Only gripe I have is w mileage. Getting 18-19 where I thought I’d be getting better w a smaller engine. I’m getting the same as I would w v6 w my driving.
See honey, the new Tacoma is a family car. It brings us close together, physically!😁 I have a 24 Tacoma with an infant seat, didn't realize how far forward the passenger seat has to go when I bought it.
Very true! Infant car seats make it interesting fitting everyone in. Close enough you can reach them from the front seat…😅
Beautiful truck ! Thanks for the video, I’ll try it.
Mahalos, should be easy enough!
You can do you self the oil change and Nat lose the guaranty?
Yes, I’d be sure to use Toyota filter so there’s no questions when it comes to warranty.
That tool box nice where did you got from
It was a gift so 🤷♂️
Cool video super helpful! Would you be able to do a video on swapping the shifter boot
@@inkfla are we talking about the automatic shifter? If so prob not because I only own the manual unless @toyota lends me one. Sorry, thanks for watching
Don’t forget to remove the old crush washer before you put the new one on! I didn’t see you do that in the vid. Mine was on there pretty tight and had to be scraped off the oil pan, but you definitely don’t wanna leave the old one underneath of the new one. It’d be better to just leave the old one on and save the new one for your next change… unless yours came off with nut as you removed it. Mine certainly didn’t!
No you are 💯 correct. Mine was stuck pretty good I had to scrape it off w the oil filter wrench, not rec for general audience. I added a fresh one in the video. Normally they come off a lot easier I’m guessing Toyota playing the long con made the first one extra sticky.
@@DatTacomaDad 😂 yeah… did your filter come with the new washer or did you just stash it in the box?? I actually forgot to buy the washer when I originally bought my new filter and oil and had to run back to the dealership to buy it 🤦. I almost decided to just leave the original on there but wound up scraping it off same as you.
It did come w the washer but for an astronomical price. $1.53 a pop, which I’ve never had to pay for before… You’re smarter than me. If I didn’t have a washer on hand and everything was drained id put back on the old. I know I’ve done it before 😬
Now you have me crushing edibles for satisfying feeling with my Tacoma 😂..
Right!? Cool party trick
