Everone seems so CALM.
WTF is with this music?
I was born in ‘72. I love all of these old cars. Wish we could have these kinds of cars again.
Notice no plastic bag those were the days. We should have never went to plastic.
When majority of people had common sense and respect 🙏
Take me back (but I'd prefer the early to mid 80's)....This world is crazy and just sad now😮💨😮💨😮💨
I was 10. Fun!
I was 8, those were the days!
I am 100% positive that the White Front store is the one at 16th and Potrero in San Francisco. That is a Safeway next door to the White Front store. I was at that White Front store grand opening with my mom back in the day. I’m also pretty sure that the Gemco is the one in Serramonte in Daly City California.
i was 18 had a job a car and a girlffiend
loved those days
That damn parking lot looks like a huge car show!!!
Whats the name of the first song?
Many more honest people back then
No flash mobs looting the stores. Shoplifting? Yes, but rarely. No late night breakins to steal registers and merchandise. The good old days, for sure.
In 1971 for $5.00 you could put plenty of gas in your car get some trading stamps and they pumped the gas for you and cleaned your windshield
As many have commented, nobody was listening to that 1920-30’s music in 1971. Maybe the the Lawrence Welk Show might have it on for the old geezers
They actually spoke to customers! Then another person bagged your groceries took them out to your car & meticulously put them in for you! At gas stations 1 or 2 people came out put the gas in.for you checked your oil & washed your window's! When you had to take something back very plight very helpful & no.problem getting the cash you paid back(no gift card's)! The motto was customer's are always right even.if thier wrong thier right! Talk back get out of line or rude? YOUR FIRED! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I remember when I was real little, like 3-4 yrs.old, the stores made a back ground sound, like a door bell kind of, when they were going to make an announcement. Do yall remember that?
11/24/2024: EVERY ERA has had/ do have its problems and challenges. The earth will not be PERFECT until JESUS returns and set up HIS kingdom. The younger children will look back on these days and say that the 2000’s were good, calm and simple. Hahahaha😇😇. Let’s keep each other in prayers and share JESUS with those around us. ❤❤❤Let’s start with being the kind of person we want to meet.
I remember a White Front store near Grossmont Shopping Ctr in La Mesa, Cali mid 60's-70's? Remember FedCo and UniMart early 60's National City!
Less people. Mostly White. No offense! Just a FACT of what it was.
Those days were just as challenging for everyone ( no matter the ethnicity, race or skin color )too. I was a teenager in the 70’s (graduated from high school in the 70’s). Ppl stopped having LARGE families, especially “white ppl” in the 60’s and 70’s ( usually 1 or 2 children ).
Yes, when you didn't have to put all your stuff on the counter, bag it and carry it out by yourself. Stores were tere to serve you and thankfu for your business. I grew up in a mom and pop store and we knew everyone in our small town. No smart fones, but party lines where you could sneak and listen to a neighbor's conversation and every mom helped on the street, while we played baseball and kickball until the sun went down.
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I loved the sound the buttons on those cash registers made 🥰
some of these are actors. real checkers double bagged every bag. you better not pack it so heavy they tore or a lady couldn't lift it. most canned/boxed items were under 99 cents...way way under. you didn't move your hand on the register for each item...your hand rested and you just moved your fingers cuz most everything ended in 5, 7, 8 or 9. you had to know all the sales flyer prices every week. you better not charge the person the regular price and they notice immediately or once they got home. oh you would be written up cuz you had to void the sale and get a manager approval. and if a "mystery shopper" went through your line and you didn't smile and say hello and thank you and charge the correct prices, and give the correct change, you also got written up. if your drawer was a little off (meaning you gave the wrong change), you got a few warnings but after that you got written up. people used to use credit cards and we used those old metal card imprinters. you had to put all the sales info, get a signature and write down a driver's license and call for manager approval😆😁😂. checks also license info. and mgr approval. holiday sales and the lines were never ending. all cashiers and baggers working. stock being replenished (no empty shelves). and the customer was always right!!!!! in 1974 i made about $2.50 an hour after two little raises.
Hahahahaha👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
This piano music is more like 1921 than 1971.
The long, sled-like cars are my favorite part. I was only 1 year old in 1971, but most of the vehicles here were still on roadways in the mid- to late 70s, when my memories started becoming vivid. These cars are enormous! I love the "blunted tail fins" that almost all vehicles had around this time. In college in the late 80s, I drove a 1975 Delta '88, quite similar to some of these in size and shape. Like watching visitors from another time.
3:10 did the cashier knows all prices by memory??😮
Back when it was the checkers job to unload your shopping cart AND bag all of your stuff. Yes, twas the good ole days.
Closed on Sunday
Yep, just about EVERYTHING was CLOSED ON SUNDAYS.
It was better without computers around.
Sooo funny the clothes the gentlemen in suits the ladies with coiffed hair, little gals in white knee hi socks, boys in their Converse allstars and that photo department with entire wall of golden yellow Kodak film 😂❤😊
Where are the black people ?
4:33 Family of five walking into store
In the first few minutes you can also see a black clerk behind the counter helping a black customer.
Your comment is sad to me bcz instead of just looking a the video and enjoying what you see…you start asking about “ where are the black people”. I think we are just as “color conscience” as we are today. Nothing really has changed….not really.
Where are the ASIAN PEOPLE? Where are the LATINOS? Where are the Middle Easterners? ……🤷🏼♀️🤷🏻♂️🤷🤷🤷🏼♀️🤷🏻♂️
Back when everyone carried a litter bag in their vehicle and used it, unlike the people of today that just throw their trash out the window.
Now days, instead of buying something off the shelf, people just steal it.
Makes you want to cry.😭 Oh, how far we have fallen.
That’s my birth year, looking at these videos bring back memories of happier and care-free times!
They were not “care free”. We certainly had our problems and challenges……like EVERY GENERATION.
No handicap parking. First come, first serve.
Why no 70’s music??
I’d love to get my hands on that ‘57 Chevy PU in the K’Mart parking lot!!
Steal it or buy it???
I was 8 years old back then and i still remember it like it was yesterday… beautiful times, carefree and happy 🤗
I'm 57, with kids from 3 to 20. I pity them for the world they have to live in. You try to opt out, but it won't allow it.
The music is quite dated for this video. It was 1971. Not. 1921
Just think - in a generation or two, people will look with back with nostalgia on THESE days and hate the times that are coming...in much the same way that my father, in 1964, was of the opinion that the Beatles should "eat their underwear." "Kids these days" is "kids these days" every generation.
Cars in the parking lot, just so much cooler than a bunch of look alike crossovers and soccer mom rides😂 Yeah, yeah, they needed more maintenance than today, bla bla. Still cooler. More style. More unique qualities. Sturdier metal. More basic to work on.
I was born in '78 and it's so wonderful to see a slice of life from the early 70s.
This was when you didn't have to return items to Amazon because they didn't fit or work.
No, bcz there was no Amazon back then.
I was 19yrs old at the time and that background music definitely doesn't fit in . That's 1971 not 1871 . LOL !
Those were by far the best days,People knew how to behave themselves.Nothing like it is today 😢
Oh, there were wild, obnoxious people back then, but what video is going to show you that? I guess back then, you didn’t have so many “misbehaving” /psychotic ppl back then.
Seeing this stuff from years gone by really bums me out when compared to how fucked up every thing is now.
Grandma taking a drag off her cigarette as she exits the grocery store. 🤣🤣🤣 This is classic. Ah, the good ol' days.
