CCE Drop Down Seals
มุมมอง 1.9Kปีที่แล้ว
A drop-down seal is fitted along the bottom of a fire door and works in unison with a latch on the frame. Once the door closes, a mechanism is activated whereby a seal drops down and covers the gap underneath the door and reduces the risk of smoke passing through. CCE are a leading manufacturer in high-performance dropdown seals for fire, smoke, and acoustic capabilities. @videoccepd In this vi...
Intumescent Air Transfer Grilles Explained
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
Intumescent air transfer grilles can be installed in fire-rated doors, walls, floors, and ducts to allow fresh air to circulate throughout a building, while also providing protection in the event of a fire. Wherever air flows, fire and smoke can travel too. In the event of a fire, the intumescent material within the air transfer grille expands to form a solid block to stop the passage of fire i...

Intumescent Sealants Explained
มุมมอง 677ปีที่แล้ว
Intumescent sealant, also known as fire mastic, adds an extra layer of passive fire protection to a building to slow the spread of fire and smoke. It is designed to reinforce the fire resistance of walls, floors, and door frames by sealing unprotected cavities such as linear joints and pipe penetrations. Intumescent sealants expand in volume when exposed to extreme heat, filling voids to form a...
The Difference Between Intumescent Sealant and Fire-rated Foam
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
A common mistake we often see in the fire safety industry is for fire-rated foam to be used in situations where intumescent sealant is better suited. While fire-rated foam expands on application, it sets hard and will not expand further and seal up a hole when a fire breaks out. Intumescent sealant, on the other hand, does not expand when applied, and only swells up when a fire has broken out a...
Different Types of Intumescent Strips Explained
มุมมอง 9Kปีที่แล้ว
Intumescent strips, or fire seals, are fitted to the two sides and top of a fire door. When exposed to extreme heat, they expand to close any gaps or edges that may leave the fire door vulnerable to fire and smoke spread. All fire doors require intumescent strips - some will require fire only products and others will require fire and smoke protection. Building Regulations or your architect will...

If this was used to place inside a concrete gap around a pipe could I thin used fire expanding foam over the surface to use as a smoke barrier?

Sorry if I didn't understand, if we have a gap at the bottom that's sloping down slightly, would theses counter act the slop or stay even? Thank you

Yes you are correct. drop down seals are self-levelling on uneven surfaces

Would this still mean that the max Newton force of 22.5 and 30 are still the same or can the force from some closers be greater in some cases?

    • @firesealsdirect
      @firesealsdirect 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

This is correct, the maximum force is 22.5 and 30 in order to comply with ADM and BS8300. A hold open and free swing door closing device may be a better alternative in cases where the opening force of a door exceeds 30 newtons

In regards to the fire glass sealant, I'm guessing it would need to be fire rated and would there be any indication from an inspection that it was repaired with out any sealant as some have wood strips hiding the seal.

I alway wondered why smoke strips was not added to some door. And didn't know about the thickness needed. Thank you

Like all Carpenters, when hanging a standard door , the open edge is under cut 1mm plus out of square to maintain the even specified joint size, when the door is swung. The door has in fact what one would call ," A long corner " on the opening inner edge geometrically caused by the hinge pivot set outside the face of the door. Does this undercutting practice still apply to Fire doors ? Your advice would be much appreciated..
