considering how much Thom has changed other songs over the years, this one has remained relatively consistently the same
thought this would be Nude but it's actually feelingpulledapartbyhorses and i'm not complaining because this song bangs
and 20 years later it still sounds like shit
You gotta be smoking crack
What’s the song title ?
Feelingpulledapartbyhorses
Maybe it never changes, but the song is about changes?
Those horses ave been round since dinosaurs roamed the earth!
though it’d be true love waits…
i'm pretty sure he spends twenty years working on most of his songs, since he's an obsessive maniac.
I have the same video that uploaded earlier, why you have more watching?)
Reckoner BAH BAH BAHHH!
For a second I thought it would be true love waits
this is NOT uncommon, every musician can relate.
Wow! I had no idea
This is the original Reckoner. You left out the original Reckoner chorus, which is one of the most brutal choruses Thom has ever written (and not great to be honest). Thom then wrote a new part for Reckoner, and ditched the Pulled Apart By Horses part and the original Reckoner chorus. When In Rainbows was announced and it had "Reckoner" in the track list, everyone expected this song. It was a huge surprise to get the Reckoner we got. He then used the Pulled Apart By Horses part as a b-side for his solo work, and the song re-appeared in the Smile set list 2 years ago. The original Reckoner chorus has never been seen since this 2001 version, and probably for the best.
they are two completely different songs Thom just reused the title of the old one. It was a replacement of song titles the two songs have e absolutely no similarities neither did they contribute to each others creation except for the title reckoner.
@@metrab8901 incorrect. The current version of Reckoner was born from a part he wrote for the original Reckoner.
@@liadcohen8327 what part? nothing in early reckoner sounds similar to in rainbows reckoner
@@metrab8901 I don't know, the version with that part in it was never played. But that is the lore for how the song came about. It was talked about in the What is Music? podcast about Radiohead.
@@liadcohen8327 It's a stretch unless Thom specifically said that otherwise it's just a case of song title swapping.
i thought this video is about True Love Waits. it’s actually been 20+ years since first played to released on the album
it must be fun to play live or something
Really hope this ends up getting on an album at some point
It was already recorded and released and it's awesome
It was released as a single in 2009
can't stop addicted to the shindig...
My friend named his band after this song.
Whats his name

I was there at the Gorge in George, WA, and my friend and I were totally perplexed at what song this was. Even more special that it was the ONLY time they played it. (well, Radiohead at least) CHILLS
1:17 Atoms for Peace 2009 version was the one
no different to Man O War, Lift or True Love Waits. thats why Radiohead rule; they’ll play a song 5 different ways and they’ll all be awesome
As much a rocker as Bodysnatchers and infectious in the same way. This got played in our home during the HTTT days.
Title should read 'The song Thom Yorke spent over 20 years playing'
I write music too, and some songs live in demos or voice memos for a few years. I can only imagine what it’s like to have a cool idea and have it incomplete and evolving for 20+ years, always looking for a proper way to do it
Or imagine creating a song that purposefully won't be released ever but only be played live as part of the experience
this is not uncommon, Thomas Bangalter (the silver helmet robot from Daft Punk) did that with "Call On Me", yes, THAT call on me. he did not want to release it because it was literally what you described, he made it just to be a live song, David Guetta even insisted on him releasing it and he dis not want it to, the song blew up anyway, so Eric Prydz released it as his instead. yea yea he got the og singer to re-record the vocal line, but its an obvious steal, but anyway, it happens. i did it too as a DJ, it is a powerful tool to have a small track that can do the work for you. for instance, a small track that already has a key change in it, so you can use it as a seamless transition between two songs in different keys, i have literally sat down and composed one or two small tracks to do that for me, so that when i'm live i can just pull it out like a card from my sleeve to keep the mix going.
Agree with the sentiment but it was released in 2008 😶
Thom did record and release it.
tá falando bosta
DJs do that all the time. Even entire sets.
2005 acoustic the best
As l lay here in the hospital, looking at the walls, your videoos are like a lifeline of endless entertainment.
Hang in there budy
«Nude» too...
10 years*
big boots is another one, over 20 years from being played around with before OK computer to final release in 2017
Still not there
Kinda nailed it the first time. Although I am a big believer in taking time with composition. Edit* Wall Of Eyes is a freaking revelation, sounds like every song had 20 years put into it and it was made in like …a year.
Exactly Wall of eyes is great
I don't understand why this video's title says he spent over 20 years writing it. They played this one in 2001, then Thom and Jonny made the version of it which we know now during the In Rainbows sessions which were probably in 2006 since the album was released in 2007... and that version was released in 2009. That's not even 10 years. The version The Smile play live is basically the same as the version that was released in 2009.
You’re correct. The ironic part is there are other songs by Thom you could totally actually legit do this with tho. True Love Waits is an easy one, heard it on the OKC tour in 1997, they released it live in 2001, then for AMSP they turned it into a cinematic masterpiece. There’s more too….. feeling pulled apart just feels like such a nothing of a b side track from a band with some of the most epic b sides in history (the amazing sounds of orgy, paperbag writer, talk show host, bangers and mash….)
@@RustinChole When I saw the video title, I assumed it was going to be about "True Love Waits".
AFP era Feeling Pulled Apart is my favorite Feeling Pulled Apart era
I think I prefer 2001 version hehe
Isn't the first one proto-reckoner?
yes
yea i was like saying reckoner in my mind
lol I saw it in my recommended and thought back to the 2001 (give or take a year I don’t remember the date) and guessed reckoned.
it was originally titled “Reckoner” and had a chorus of him sing “Reckoner pa-pa-pa” then he took that title and used it for the wimpy In Rainbows song
@@coldacreexactly!
Them horses have been yanking on poor lad's limbs for decades
Had the pleasure of hearing this live with The Smile! Totally unexpected!!
I also had it with Atoms For Peace!
Same, and I loved it!!!
Here I am. with atoms for peace In Rome. powerful 🩵
