This channel follows day-to-day life of morning coffees, eating cheap local food, and wandering aimlessly through the streets with the rambling thoughts of a simple man as he travels around Southeast Asia on a budget.
It's just a slow drift soaking up the atmosphere of wherever we find ourselves.
Cheers

Being unfaithful in Bali. Clickbait. Kind of.
My other channel. www.youtube.com/@fiascodagama1/videos
Today i arrive in padangbai and give you a room tour before walking along central Padangbai where i talk to a husband and wife team who own a small warung.
I also convey my feelings of guilt about posting my first video on the road oto my second channel. I've got a loyalty to the main channel I didn't realize i had.
We also talk to groups of diving instructors, and I take you along the fast boat pier to show you a fast boat with a roof top.
It's a ramshackle stroll through padangbai.

Living the dream in Bali. The freedom of having nothing.

My other channel www.youtube.com/@fiascodagama1/videos Today I prepare for a scooter ride around Bali and go in search to buy a rain poncho. I also need to change some money, buy a pair of shorts, and check to make sure the scooter is being serviced. I also ramble on about the beauty of having nothing in life.
Many who are triggered in observing someone elses life and need to make anything but a affirming comment, in seeing someone live their life.....and are happy and content in doing so. I feel there is an underlying sense of resentment, because for whatever reasons they chose a different path and it brings up a feeling of loss in them. Not so much a judgement but an observation of human behaviour I still am understanding. I think I am more purely accepting of people where they are at and however they chose to live their life, is not for me to judge or critisize unless...they ask for an opinion 🕊🙏💙🙏
And In Seemingly HAVING NOTHING, YOU SUDDENLY FIND THAT THE WORLD IS YOURS..... WHY SETTLE FOR A BRICK AND TILE HOUSE, WHEN YOU CAN HAVE THE WORLD.......... I AM LIKING THIS NEW CHANNEL WAYNE..... ITS ENLIGHTENING 🤔🤯🌟 🕊🙏💙🙏
Wow......Wayne, that cracked me up......critisizing your life choices because you do what brings you more Joy and Fulfillment than owning a house or a car. 😂😂😂😂😂 Who are these nongs 🤯 And Why are they watching your channel if they are SO TRIGGERED by your Happiness. Maybe they are subscibed and watching to spite you......😂😂😂 🕊🙏💙🙏
It may have changed a bit from my last time in Bali, but you have more bargining power with good clean $100 bills than 50s or 20s. And yes even more so when you change a large amount and choosing best day and time of the day.
I totally get the not biking on the trip.....and YES, I would have seen that accident as a bit of a........ "ARE YOU SURE THATSBA GOOD IDEA MOMENT " My prefered way to travel is....when buget isnt a great concern is getting a driver....even just to the next stop where I want to explore......find a place to stay that feels good and suits my needs and thats my base for a week or so....... And I love to do the walks, like yourself. I feel we miss so much as we set our mind on just getting to the next place. All the places we travel through to get their have their stories to tell, they are also a destination. Also I feel and sense so much more when walking......there is no disconnect and in a place like Bali it is not good to be in that mindset. Youll laugh at this I only scrolled down whilst watching another channel, yes.....its true.......I have been seeing other channels. 😂 And almost scrolled past....didnt recognize the hat and shirt. Already seeing this 2nd channel as a really wise move.....its a little more educational in the fact we actually get to explore these places with you and get a bit of history and the particular industry or villages stategic location for ??? Thanks Wayne..... 🕊🙏💙🙏🫵
Your Indonesian is feeling much more relaxed.....getting that nice flow going now Wayne. And generally is an indication of that jumping off point and becoming more expansive conservational Indonesian....think you may even suprise yourself at how quick you start picking up more and more. 🙏💙🙏
Don't worry about not being on a bike, sit back, relax and take it all in. I tend see more when when I'm not concentrating on road conditions and traffic.
That's a pretty good point, Brenton. Cheers.
Great work Wayne enjoy your life 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks, Alan. Its there to be lived!
Good move not to ride the bike. I’ve seen too many serious road accidents in Bali. Visited there years ago and found some fabulous gamelan musicians rehearsing in one of the back streets.
Looking forward to a walk through the backstreets tomorrow and now I'm excited, Marisa. Yes, what's the point of growing older if we're not going to be a little smarter. :)
Well said Wayne, I agree totally,
Thanks, Peter. We forget how to be free sometimes.
Life is for the living LIVE it im going to do something very similar not to fare in the futur but with wife if she not interested ill see her when i get back LoL.
Ha! Now you're a man with conviction. Nice.
Hope you're gonna try the pepes before you leave padangbai as it's delicious! Couple of words you might use when wondering about and people ask mau ke mana. You can reply makan angin= eating wind or cucui mata = washing eyes. Both are taken to mean that you are just out and about checking things out
Ha! I'm going to have to start paying you soon, Daniel. thank you. i will try the pepes.
Bemos are a good option Wayne. Only, make sure you get one with ultra dark window tinting and the cassette deck only plays 'The Best of Scorpion ' for that authentic 80s experience. 😉
I'm so glad for types of followers i've got. Hilarious. just as I remember the bemos from the 80s.
yes as you know i have been far to fast to type and say ,, and you sir are living a great life.. i would rather be free than to be a constant worker .. very depressing.. and im very happy for you .. obviously you have had a past life.. we all have i feel ihave been three difrent women!! im happy you got your jacket, youneed it haha .. happy travels my friend
We all deserve a life of freedom, I think. And I do feel very privileged for mine.
A bike in the rainy season can be a pain. I just got a good quality cape which covered everything which meant i can keep going no matret what and always have a set of dry clothes and a towel under the seat. You really cant beat a bike for getting around Bali. Accidents must be avoided at all costs, youre bang on about local attitudes. I always find it frustrating the lack of fish in Bali considering its an island. Thai islands are considerably better for that.
I'm envious of you if you're getting around on a bike yourself, rb. I love touring Southeast Asia on a bike but this time it just didn't feel right.
@WCMoss If it didn't feel right then you made the right choice. Always follow inner convictions, they're rarely wrong. Stay safe.
Ah, the delights of the warungs along the front at Padangbai, the semi-organised chaos of the pier, The Golden Queen boats . . . then (for us) Candidasa and the golden sands of the Gilis. You might struggle for bemos going north, but bikes can be lethal in the wet - and it is, after all, the rainy season!
Hi Kevin. i think it was The Golden Queen I used last time as well. i'm a little disappointed at not riding around Bali on a bike again, it's such a joy. Padangbai is a great little port, I think.
Woohoo you're off and running! Very enjoyable Wayne. Wow the room and brekky looked great. See you on the next video
Hi Sandie. The brekky and room are good here. The owners of the guesthouse just came to my room with the family say hello as I have stayed here quite regularly over the years. And yes, we're on our way, I'm really excited to be moving again.
ikan pepes - my favourite Balinese dish
Hi Ron. A few have said that now which means I have to try it tomorrow.
How old are you, mate? 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
57. Feel eighty in body and eighteen in mind.
Cheers again Wayne always interesting either channel . Are you heading to Amed ?
Hi Paul. Amed was in the original plan but being around these ferries makes me want to head east out into Eastern Indonesia. :)
Nice room Wayne the area is, so different to the tourist area, Keep well. Thankyou.
Hi Margaret. it is a lovely place to stay. Thank you.
Do you know what that big concrete building is going to be?, looks out of place
Looks awful, doesn't it? I don't know what it will be - I'll ask tomorrow if I remember.
Good work Mate, I think you should brand that hat and sell it as merch - very cool 👍🙂
Found it in the the bottom of the wardrobe when home recently and forgot I had it. Good idea with the merch. :)
Really enjoying this new format Wayne
Thanks, itskolis. I have to admit just doing a walk and talk is really enjoyable - not thinking too much. :) Appreciate you taking the time to say.
the world is full of knockers Wayne !
Stayed at Bloo lagoon up the hill wonderful views. Pity those boats pollute what would probably be one of the most naturally beautiful bays in Bali. crying shame.
One could imagine what the bay looked like with just a few local prahu in the water.
Maybe a good thing to back off the bike option considering the time of year and road conditions so just a more slower and laid back but just as interesting few weeks. Safe travels.
Cheers Ron. I kinda agree. Thanks.
Selemat Malam, Baik sekali. I was always shocked I made it riding in a rust bucket from Timor to Roti & beyond. Keep going! What's the hurry? Going back 2 work?
Good times. I have to admit being next to the ferries is giving me the urge to head east. :)
I never go anywhere other than a bike, rain hail or shine....it's called laziness....
Ha! many of us relate to the lazy aspect, I think.
Gday Wayne, been to Bali many time but never done the islands, will look into it next trip in Feb. love the new channel mate really different perspective and that you speak a lot of Bahasa. What’s your background mate, first time in Bali what draws you there etc. keep them coming mate absolute breath of fresh air cheers Rob from Gero
Hi Rob from gero. :). Thanks. First time to Bali in 1985. Been traveling and living in the region in India, Nepal, Indo etc a bit. I'm drawn by the ease and attitude toward living, the cost of living, low stress... Background in publishing/advertising but didn't think much of it. Not driven at all by accumulation of wealth... Cheers.
and yeah your right. although i tried to always pay people a fair price.. i still took the cheapness and also yes i got absolutely mauled before of people asking me for money every day,, and i got really tired of it,, some people even got mad at me .. i had to learn alot .. but bali has a specail place in my heart
It can get tiresome but over time I find you just reset a bit and let it go.
@@WCMoss yes true,, letting go is good in many ways in life im learning
well wouldnt you know it.. i really enjoy watching your perspective.. and i have learned i had my own issues with how i see things.. i really love bali. . and i relate .. have a great time
Thanks, Virgo. Cheers.
Good to see a bit of Padangbai again. Next to . where the fish was being grilled is where I filmed my Jukung [double outrigger canoe] being built. Opposite is the 'Talk of the Town' cafe, and worth a visit. If you do say hello to Kadek, the owner, from Steve. The Jukung docos are on my you tube channel steveroperfilms. Cheers. ps. There's a regular Bemo service from Padangbai to Candidasa.
Appreciate the info on Bemos, Steve. The outrigger sounds like a great project.
Hi Wayne, you mentioned about Timor island, have you been to Timor before?
Hi Ystari, Yes, Ive been to Timor a couple of times as well as Rote.
@WCMoss Oh wow great. Enjoy and be safe on your trip 😊
@@Ystari86 Thank you.
ᴋᴇʀᴇɴ 👍.
Thanks
I also agree 100% Wayne, I call them sheep ... anyway great channel, enjoy watching your channels while back at the office for Lunch.
Thanks James, appreciate it. Enjoy your lunch.
The rainy season is definitely here now, it is probably a good idea to ditch the bike and go by various mobile.
Yea, just had that feeling. Sometimes best to listen to our instincts.
Hi Wayne, I've not been on a scooter for yrs,for similar reasons as you mentioned.although I would consider riding out of town where there is little traffic.
Hi David. maybe it's age, wisdom, fear...whatever, I feel better for not doing it.
The old saying is if the Falung wasn’t here , the accident wouldn’t have happened
That's it, Peter.
I had a compass tattooed on my...... It used to maintain a North heading, but now it just constantly stays South.
Ha! there's medication to get you "traveling" again. :)
👍
Thanks.
So glad you didn't hire a bike. I'd go by foot and bemo too, so slow travel is more relevant to me and a lot of others I imagine, awesome start to your journey
Hey, Jen. Just want to acknowledge your ongoing support of the channels. thank you.
Good to see you got there safe Wayne. I didn't like the colour of that poncho your bought. Need bright colours if you are out especially on a bike. You look almost the same as that bloke on your other channel.
They reckon we look a bit similar. i reckon the other guy is a bit slow.
@@WCMoss Doppelganger!
@@WCMoss Bahahahahahahaha
@@WCMoss You know what they say about a rolling stone
When I went from Gilimanuk to Java omg this thing took cars trucks and people. The first thing we said once one was christ the rust is what is holding this thing together. On the way back the Captain let my son who was about 3 steer the ferry I have beautiful photos of him with the captains hat on.
That's a great memory for you and son, Jos.
2:44 I think she said tujuh enam! As in 76, but that couldn't be correct 😅
Correcting you, respectfully: She did say "Cucu, enam".... Cucu, in Bahasa Indo / Malay = grandchild(ren). Easily misheard for 'Tujuh enam' fersure.... :D :D
@razbakar7889 ah thanks. I thought that was weird. Yes, cucu. That makes sense.
No shame in not riding staying safe is more important, you're looking chilled buddy great stuff enjoy the adventure, cheers
Cheers Craig. It feels good to be out and about.
You are 1000 % right Great video, I am in my 50s no house no car gave my kids all my stuff, I have a small bag of clothes, and a lap top to take care of my modest stock holdings that I hope to support a 2K a month SE Asia life style. Some times less is way more
There seems to be a few of us embracing the simple life, Joe. Good on you!
Those ignoramuses are called "Sheep" or "Sheeple". Question, have you been to Thailand or Cambodia, i am tossing up with either but Bali may be a another choice, i know zero about Bali, so perhaps you can enlighten me with the Pro's and Con's. The Philippines did catch my attention but too many Con's came into the equation. I am an Aussie (none sheep)
I like Bali because the people are of a soft kind nature generally. Bali is also only a three hour flight from where I'm from in Perth. Thailand probably has the best health care, Cambodia not. Thailand also has pretty good infrastructure so most things work. Cost of living is probably roughly the same, but that will depend on what you like to do. If you're a drinker, Cambodia would be a better fit. My advice is take a trip and spend a couple of months in each and get an idea of what fits best for you.
@@WCMoss Thank you kind sir, yes spending time in each is a must i am not a drinker - been there, burnt out Esophagus from reflux🙃🤐
Hello, I notice that he is very agitated when walking; it seems that he has some respiratory difficulty. I think I should see a doctor. Greetings from Argentina.
I'm agitated because I'm old, have a bad back, bad leg, bad lungs, and sometimes a bad attitude. People aren't perfect human beings.
@@WCMoss Wayne, I am an 82-year-old man, I have 9 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, I have difficulty walking and heart problems, I know we are just passing through, but the important thing is YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE. Mine is not a criticism, just a comment. Hug from Argentina.
I got rid of 90% of my things. Its that last 10% that holds me back. I think its all psychological. Its keeping one foot in the past. Once i get rid of this last of things i dont even feel that i will miss them. Im still holding my self back.
That last cut can be the deepest. :)
