Representation of Women in Leadership Positions in Administrative Digitisation: Status Quo and Opportunities for Improvement
The digital transformation of administration has gained significant importance and has developed into an attractive and rapidly growing career field. At the same time, it is an area where the representation of women is traditionally lower than in other professional fields.
Considering the ambitious equality goals of the German administration - for example, the federal government has committed to achieving gender equality in leadership positions by the end of 2025 - the question arises as to how this can be achieved, especially in the area of administrative digitisation. In a joint research project, the Centre for Digital Governance and Deloitte examined the representation of women in leadership positions in administrative digitisation at both the federal and state levels, as well as the experiences of female leaders in administrative digitisation. The aim was to identify particularly promising strategies and measures to increase the proportion of women.
