Lifeglider Review

The amazing and potentially life-changing (for some) Lifeglider has come to the UK. I bought one and so decided to review it today as it was out. Obviously the Lifeglider is not suitable for everyone and it will not help with fatigue or injury so consult a medical professional before using. Here is a list of conditions I have actually seen the Lifeglider used for: - MS - Stroke - Ataxia - Amput...

The Benefits of Gekko Handrims - Loopwheels
Hello, been watching your videos with keen interest. Can I ask please, is this the wheelchair you still use and rate as the best you reviewed? I ask because this video says you've found your chair now and won't be doing more reviews, but then I found more reviews more recently. Were more recent reviews just because you had the opportunity to try some different things out and decided to make vids, or did you change your mind on the Q200r and need to look for something different? Thanks if you can help.
This was my last review since then. The others are older. I did a review this morning of a chair I bought to get in my mothers house. This wasn't my last chair though as the NHS later prescribed me the Q300R (same chassis with different seating). The Q300R didn't exist when I did the Q200 review. So yes, for prescribed chairs, this was my final review in 2024 and the others are older. I may review the Q300R eventually. I also have some reviews I never posted. Please keep following me and ask questions on any of my chairs. Playlist is called 'Wheelchair Reviews' to see all the chairs I've reviewed so far. Though I have tried or used other chairs.
@ Thanks. Is the Q300R the best you've tried so far?
Also comes in Carbon frame version as far as I know,
There is a carbon version. I've never tried it.
Cual le gusta más q200r o la q100 r
They are completely different chairs. The Q200R is a substantial powerchair that can handle substantial terrain. The Q100 is very small for indoor use.
Very helpful. Can I ask, how tall is your son? I'm just trying to gauge if it would be big enough for me.
5ft 7. It can easily fit a person to to 6ft
Is seems u can lay down is it?
Yes!
I have this chair, and use it heavily outside with no problems?
I say in the video that it can be used outside and the review takes place outside in pretty rough terrain. Let me know if you have any questions.
Not a heavy duty chair , it doesnt like slanted curbs. And doesnt stop as easy. Very problematic when needed for heavy pavement use. Very heavy, so lifting it is difficuilt for even your average person. Good for a folding chair, but not for a heavy use driver. Also i would agree there is skill involved in driving to avoid tilting pavements, and sliding off. But there needs to be a standard for safety, and for me, this isnt it.
Thanks for sharing
You need to learn to drive these sort of chairs. If I ever have another folding chair I will do a lesson in how to drive them.
this video is very insightful, i was looking into the q50 r carbon equivalent of this model and i found this video to be very useful
Glad it was helpful!
While I think this might help some people, everytime I check out Life Gliders, they give me an overwhelming feeling that they are at risk of tipping over, both forward and back. And no, I don't trust the flimsy seatbelt. I'll stick with my Nova Mini Mack rolling walker. The way it is used doesn't require a seat belt. It has a sturdy seat and backrest bar, along with a nice cargo basket underneath. It also has both intermittant brakes, like a car's brake pedal, and a parking brake. I've had it for several years and the only real problem was a crack that formed in one of the contoured hand grips, which I just replaced with my brother's help--stronger hands. Before buying any type of mobility aid do your homework. Take the time to find out which types are best for your health issues and mobility problems. Consider all of the sizing factors to get a good fit, and yes, that does matter. It's a safety issue. For a rollinger walker that includes the height range of the handles (most are adjustable), the floor to seat height, the width between the handles, the depth of the seat, and the size of the wheels. If you are going to use it outside, make sure that the wheels are at least 8 inches in diameter, for greater ease of movement over rough ground. Also, check the total width across. The widest models may be too wide to fit through some doorways. The floor to seat height on most models is not adjustable, but there are a few exceptions out there. The weight of the rolling walker is also important, as the user or caregiver will have to lift and carry it on occasion. There are other things to consider, but it boils down to DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Although Nova discontinued the Mini Mack rolling walkers, they came out with a new line of rolling walkers with adjustable seat heights, including a replacement for the Mini Mack, but with more features. That one is the Nova Star 8 HD Petite. When my current model finally needs to be replaced, I will probably get that model.
So you haven't watched the video then because I don't think at the end I am really recommending this product. Also, this product doesn't fall over. That's just a feeling you have. It's stable. Thank you for your contribution.
This is exactly the video I was looking for as a wheelchair user deliberating on whether to place a rainkiss order - thank you!
You're very welcome!
Hi just got the e-fix 35 on my Action 3 wheelchair. First impressions are it's smooth and powerful. Only thing is it tips backwards on the anti tippers really easily. My previous wheelchair was a quickie tango and I never experienced that, it was really stable and even 10 cm kerbs were no issues. Anyone got any suggestions? Maybe the anti tippers are set wrong or maybe there's some other power setting. Any advice much appreciated
Yes, you need to change the centre of gravity if you find the chair is often tippy. Go to your local mobility dealer to get this done.
Gracias..necesito ruedas grandes se me gastaron ny
Choose another chair. I have other reviews.
Have one. A great chair for the price.
Right on!
The price please
this is lovely
Thank you. The kitchen was built via a disabled grant from the local authority and is very useful for if I have energy.
Have you had any issues with it not having gyro? I.e it sliding in the direction of the slope rather than the direction you want to go?
Quite honestly no! It's an excellent chair and stable. I have now been issued with the Q300 by the NHS and will review that.
Thank you for your review. Ive been looking into foldable electrical chairs. I was wondering, is it the chair that rattles when it's going over slight bumps or is it something else? Because if it is already having a rattle, i would worry about the build long term
Sorry I missed your comment..the build of the chair is superb!
@wheelchairgeek thank you for your reply. I have actually watched the video a few times. I think it may be the anti tip-over wheel thingies on the back? This chair is still a contester, im just not sure whether it's large enough for me to fit me. Unfortunately theres no disability stores that sell such chairs where you can just try them out. Atleast not anywhere in my area. And excuse my bad English, I'm Dutch.
I'm not sure what you are referring to about the anti-tips? The chair is very stable and will suit someone who needs up to a 20" wide wheelchair as the armrests are quite far apart. I generally speaking take a 20-22" chair and so didn't want to be filmed on this.
Ordered this chair, Australian Capital Territory. Carbon fiber. Very light weight. Spare battery, weight 1.4 kg each. Chair of less than 15 kg. Adding a Roho cushion. Very quickly folding, unfolding. Easily movable when folded. Why did your daughter not like this chair?
Sounds great. The cushion will help. No she didn't like it at all and pretty much 'held out' on finding any good in it so I called it a stalemate. The chair is good and useful for many people however. Let us know how it fares in various terrains and weather please 🙏🏼
Hi, how do the e-fix wheels deal with stopping (especially downhill)? Do they do regenerative braking?
Yes. Thank you for your question. The braking is second to non. Best braking system I've seen on any chair!
Best braking system I've seen on any powerchair or add-on ever!
that's great to know! ordering them this week (my bank account is snarling quietly in the corner) - been using e-motions but my eds is making my ribs hate self-propelling now
There is a youtuber on here with EDS who compares using a pushing device to the Alber. She concludes with the Alber. You need to be careful with pushing if you have EDS for sure!
@@wheelchairgeekI've had the e-fix for a week or so now and (barring a period where I just got a covid booster and got knocked flat by it) it's amazing being able to get to places and not be exhausted and sore by the time I'm there! My only gripes so far have been with the controller unit - the max speed dial is on the right side only, which makes it really awkward to use if you're left handed. And the centre of gravity is quite far back, so I have to remember to lean forward when going up kerb ramps etc. Otherwise it's a good time, and I'm about to see what it's like with the speed upgrade for the first time later today :).
You still have height adjustment left in the legs of the device, from I can see anyway. I think it could be life changing for a lot of people
Yes the equipment has a lot of adjustability if you have the tools. It's definitely a game-changer for a lot of people. Especially if balance or gait is your main issue and you want to maintain muscle strength.
Я считаю коляска коляска хреновая они сами продают не знают что потому что запчастей на эту коляску найти невозможно она считает
I'm afraid not. I just can't walk often and when I do I tend to grab a walker or just lolop until I flop back into a wheelchair. Sorry.
God bless you for this review! My husband has Machado Joseph Disease and has a regular walker right now. Thankfully, his insurance will pay for it he just has to see his Dr first.
Thank you. I am really glad it helped.
Do you use it often? Other than bulky any other cons?
Yes. Probably very difficult to get used to and the adjustments to the top belt take using a type of spanner most people can't manage. Some people find the seat annoying. I felt like I didn't really know where to put it exactly. I don't use it at all anymore. I can hardly walk without pain and spasms or becoming stiff and jerking. So...no, I don't use it. It's now for sale. It was my final attempt at increasing walking.
Where is the front wheel suspension
as far as I remember there isn't any. But you wouldn't need it as the weight is mainly distributed toward the back.
Ooh I like all the swing out cupboards. My kitchen just happens to have one, so I use it for all my cooking ingredients. It also just happens to have a lowered “island” table separate from the higher up work surfaces I can use to chop stuff. But the hob is at a regular height and it kinda hurts my arms to stir stuff! I really like that short fridge though, hadn’t thought about that. The retractable oven door is a huge deal, trying to reach the inside without burning my stomach on the door is one of my bigger issues atm.
The main thing is to get a proper assessment from an OT.
Thank you for reviews. A couple of years on and still helping ppl. Peace n love
Thank you. Might be a new one soon as my NHS chair is being updated.
Absolutely zabrdest product please price inform me thanks
I review second hand products and picked this up for £300 or so but it was considerably smelly! Try using eBay and looking out for products which have been sold because someone has deceased.
Very informative review I am looking for a foldable power wheelchair and trying to decide between the q50r, foldalite trekker and the espirit. What what you advise? I will be using it for days out from shopping centres to theme park/zoos. I was originally going to go for the q50r but not so sure after seeing your review and few others. I'm 16 stone do you think thst would help with traction?
Thank you very much for your question as it's valuable to people wanting to learn who may be wondering the same thing. 16 stone isn't really heavy enough to worry too much. In terms of performance and reliability the Esprit is way above the other two you mentioned. However, I would try to get the older version on eBay as I don't think much of the new controller at all. Now the older version you just plug and play and you can definately replace the batteries yourself by buying them from Battery Trader. The Esprit is a chair which just goes on and on! However, two things to point out. 1) if you are buying the new version of the Esprit (and it has many good points) and you can't fix it yourself (you can fix anything on the older version yourself at home) then you are relying on Alber in Germany, which have to be one of the worst companies for customer service! Also, Esprit is VERY heavy in terms of frame. Though you can get two of them in a smart car! Once again, the Q50r is a great folding chair, but it's pretty heavy. I personally think that the foldalite trekker isn't a bad option at all but it's very different to the Esprit. Buy an Esprit and you've basically got it for life!
Very informative video. What is you recommend as a powered folding chair?
Probably recommend using the Alber e-fix attachments on a basic manual chair as that set-up is flawless!
Hii
Hi
Your Bat Crap Cray Cray lol... But seriously.. Impressive.. 🔥
I have autism. It's not craziness 😂
Great review, chair looks great. My GFs just bought one second hand. What's the name of the gadget with the light and phone charger and Where's it from?
Thank you. Ah! I don''t know the manufacturer but we get them on eBay. Look up wheelchair light charger and a few sellers do them. Worth keeping a few as they are easy to misplace. when you're charging your chair at night.
Can you drive this onto an artificial lawn from a footpath?
You will be able to with this. Also, check out my review on the Q200R which has incredible traction on all surfaces!
I recently tested a different folding wheelchair and found it was incredibly difficult to manoeuvre in tight spaces. When making delicate steering inputs the chair would initially move very slowly as it fought to get the front castors turned. Then, as they began to turn, the chair would suddenly swoop around rapidly. The result was that I'd end up swinging around wildly banging into things as I tried to make tight turns. It did not help that the brakes were fairly poor, meaning that when it began to swoop there was not much I could do to stop it. I do already own a folding wheelchair, so i understand it's never going to be as manoeuvrable as other types of chair on the market, but the one I tested was just a bit too unpredictable to be comfortable to use in places like a restaurant where I could end up bashing into tables or door frames. What did you think of the Q50s manoeuvrability? Did it turn on the spot well? How did it handle indoors?
Thank you so much for your question! This is what this channel is all about - users asking questions and giving feedback on products they have tried or want to try or buy. We have 3 folding wheelchair reviews on here and have used 4 of these types of folding chairs in our household. Please check these out although ultimately, nothing beats a demo! I do think the cheaper end of these chairs have front castors like shopping trolleys! I did find the Q50r to be a different Kettle of fish altogether but it's expensive. I also don't enjoy how slow it is or the lack of features. For me, the leader on the market of this type of chair is still the Foldalite Trekker. Not any of its forerunners. I do rate the Q50r but I think they need to come up to spec with what features are available on other similar chairs now such as a place to charge your mobile phone etc. However, ultimately the ONLY folding chair I will ever use personally is the Alber e-fix mounted on to a comfortable active or medium active chair of your choice because the steering, maneuverability and durability of this combination is second to none!
A really good review, I know about this chair through using it in my work . I have to say it's is awful, jerky, unpredictable on humps and bumps or going at an angle on a slope . I am nervous on narrow pavements . There is so much damage around the house now. Your review was spot regards the problems . Thanks for confirming my thoughts . ...ps you can fit fatter wheels but they don't improve its handling... give me a Spectra any day. X
Thank you for that response. Tell me, in what way do you find the Spectra an improvement?
I have a question about the drop kerb situation, i currently use a folding mobility scooter but its range is quite poor and frankly im lucky to get a couple of miles out of a charge due to bumpy footpaths very slight inclines etc, its very limiting when ive 3 children 6,8,12 to take out and about and this was supposed to give me my freedom back but really it only gets me to the local park then back. In my area dropped kerbs are not flush with the roads they are more often then not at least an inch kerb to bump over, my scooter handles it but would this wheelchair, the range on this wheelchair is great but only if it can get me up an inch dropped kerb. It will have to fold because my daughters disability buggy doesnt fold and theres no room for 2 wheelchairs- we'd have to remove the sofa! Thank you, from Emma
Hi, thanks for this question. If you have 4 children I would probably advise staying in a mobility scooter if you can but upgrading to one with more milage. A chair this light will take a lot of steering skills and yes, it will go up kerbs BUT only backward. So, if you think you can manage the kids and go backwards up the curbs then you might want to consider this. I used a mobility scooter all the time I had kids and I also had a son who used a mobility buggy until he was a lot older. Generally speaking most people who rely on a mobility aid will always have one. So one large scooter for local trips and a folding scooter or wheelchair for going out for example.
Those motorised ramps sure look easier than the manual ones..! I put my lightweight manual chair on my passenger seat in a hatchback, but family members use WAVs. They’re all manual ramps and latches though!
I carry two wheelchair users including myself so I have no option. However, it frequently plays up and I have only had it 3 weeks and the ramp broke down for a week!
😂 Thought I would post this in response to the recent short made of a man arguing with an older lady who was trying to get him out of a disabled space when he didnt have a badge. The guy was trying to say the woman could park in any space she wanted to. Here is why that's NOT true. I not only need to get my wheelchair in my van...I have to drive from it! 😂❤
I’ve been curious about off road tyres to enhance a Freewheel for quite a while. So this is all good to know. Especially being compatible with those scissor brakes! Honestly gloves are a necessity for any distance, even with good grips and decent leathery calluses! I also find those hand pumps are just too difficult to use past about 30-40PSI, whereas my normal wheels need about 80PSI. But since these are chunkier maybe they’re lower pressure!
Thank you for your feedback. There are some excellent electric pumps and I would recommend using those if you're going to make serious use of a pneumatic tyre.
Is it safe to drive if I take the anti tip wheels off. It would make it much easier to fit this in my car without them.
Hi Wendy, I would personally say that it's fairly safe but then I am also quite a good driver and feel able to judge when I am over the incline level of a particular chair. If you are going to be using this for shopping malls, museums and other fairly flat spaces you won't need an anti-tipper. Having said that, this was my 19 year old daughters chair and I've seen her do some pretty risky things with it! One extra comment to make about this particular chair is the back wheels are VERY balanced against the front seat making the centre of gravity more stable than many folding powerchairs we've seen and used.
My wheelchair tops over.
Do you want to let me know more? What wheelchair are you using and what setting do you have it on please? Send photos if needed.
A rigid active chair would be much lighter and appropriate for you.
Wouldn't be relevant at all as I'm not an active wheelchair user. But thanks
@@wheelchairgeek you missed the point all together. You mentioned stamina and strength. An rigid active chair would give you a lot more energy.
If I get an opportunity to compare a rigid chair with a folding for the purpose of this channel then I will. But I am a powerchair user and intend to stay such as my conditions warrant that.
Very cool
Thank you sis.
Very informative and useful content 👌
Thank you.
That’s so cool! I suggested exactly this thing to a pal who uses a power chair, but apparently Motability said it didn’t exist. Idk, maybe it didn’t at the time, but I’d always got the feeling he’d just been fobbed off. I’m so glad to know these exist.
Hi Kaitlyn, These aren't a standard option on Motability. You have to be working or pay for the adaptation yourself. They don't fit this on a car used only for leisure. Sorry. Sucks but the adaptation is just too expensive to give out as standard procedure.
😅🎉
Thank you
Hi. Thank you for your video. I’m currently trying to find power assistance for my son’s wheelchair (which will be attendant controlled). On your video at 2:52 mins you say “you can put off road wheel on the back” could you please clarify, do you mean switch the tyres on the E Fix? We want something to use on all types of terrain, not just pavements etc. Thanks again
Hi Zoe, thank you for your question. To be honest you don't actually need off road wheels on this. It's off road enough! It will do most things you need including rough terrain, gravel and a small amount of sand.
@@wheelchairgeek thank you 😊
It’s ao great to see a review by an actual wheelchair user! The reviews online from salespeople abd shops arent very specific about what they’re actually like to use - indoor vs outdoor, turning circles etcThanks for uploading
Thank you. That's why I started really. Wasn't intending to make a channel. Just fed up of being ripped off!
