MSX VS C64: Lemans
มุมมอง 4311 หลายเดือนก่อน
"Le Mans" is a car racing game where you need to drive as far as possible in a certain time. By overtaking other racers (which partially have a bit of an unconventional driving style, which does not make it easier) without causing a crash, points are added to your account (1000 points per 10 cars). The MSX version is made in 3D mode but the game play is overall the same.

This is just a simple wad for doom, no wolf3d engine here
What the fuck
Um, that's not the wolf 3d engine
it certainly is, they reimplemented a number of doom features on the wolf4sdl engine.
@@shemlesh the floor would all be one color due to wolf 3d's raycasting. It's a revamped engine
@@1987nightrap yes they added textured floor and ceiling support as loads of wolf3d mods do, its wolf4sdl, you can switch those features on when compiling it. the data formats and engine is still wolf3d at its core, but it really comes down to at what point an engine stops being the same engine
@@shemlesh I'd say when the stuff would not work in the original engine, like dynamic lighting in Gzdoom, It wouldn't work in the original engine, it's something beyond the engine's original abilities. So I'd say it's a different engine based on the wolf 3d engine.
Due to the shotgun 1 shot, It'd still be chaotic movement like doom
SICKKKK, I MISS this 2000s techno vibe for the final track that so many people seem to have been making back then but is ..gone now? Oh, its by grendel?
👌🥰👍 einfach klasse kann man immer wieder hören
Jolly, that amazingly interesting
Looks closer to Rise of the Triad than Wolfenstein 3D, albeit without height changes from map to map.
Sounds good Just what I needed to hear
You got us a 2nd time with Lazy Jones, I love it!
This absolutely slaps! Cheers on the sweet remix
2:17 I like how when he loads the double barrel, he inserts the shells then immediately takes it out and the shotgun acts like it’s loaded
La versión MSXera parece un poco mejor en gráficos. En cualquier caso... la de C64 se ve (no la he jugado) IGUAL de genial. El juego recuerdo que era un puro vicio (sobre todo su segunda parte).
sad this never finished
fler moddar från denna era tack :D
I’m curious what the thought process was behind this. Interesting.
First of all i think the game is not that known. Compared to Doom and Quake the game is rather unknown. Second the game contains a rather good soundtrack but in the CD its rather short and bad quality. So i did extend it twise the length and filter it out. Also i did add gameplay footage.
This is a gem. Can you achieve better lighting/shadows with OpenGL 2.1? And include various post-processing effects?
you can include just any post processing effects. No problem. The problem comes to lightning. I think the maximum lights is 4 in OpenGL 2.1 and that is way to limited. OpenGL 3.3+ is way better there you can have unlimited lights and shadows but it will eat GPU and CPU power...
@@UTUBMRBUZZ Yeah that's fine, I'm using 4.3. I'm building my own engine too, and I arrived to the step where I need to implement lights, and then shadows, and then I'll be able to build the level for the game. I wanted to ask, since I've never done this before (maybe you did), how do you go about saving a scene? Say, once I build my level, if I close the editor, nothing gets saved. How do you go about saving stuff? I need to learn about JSON format I guess?
@@luigiistratescu2756 Hi wow nice to hear. 4.3 is almost unlimited power when it comes to openGL. Well you save the scene in any format you want. When you move an object the vexter and normals position are changed. The texture cordinates will stay the same of that object. You have to save all vertex, normals to the disc and then the scene will stay the same. You might also have to create a loader for the scene if that already don't exist. Good luck with your "little" project..
Xenon is probably a zx spectrum port to the msx .
Yes i think they ported the ZX spectrum 128 version since the music is there. But its not bad compared to the C64 version...
MSX Win🎉
the c64 has definitive sound of the 8-bit era 💪

MSX the best
Looks awesome for C64.
MSX sinks the bomb!
This isn't Knightmare, it has literally NO connection to the TV show.
True it don't.
Oh wow ive found it..great upload!!
I just googled this out of random curiosity and of course this exists :D
This is not really the original version, but close enough 😀❤
THANK YOU SO MUCH for being the ONLY person to have video footage of this engine available online rn, thnking about making a game in this engine :)
No problem and thanks. The engine is very old and i have been thinking about to make a modern version of the game. But a rewrite of the engine would almost create a new engine at the end. It would also take a lot of time. So not sure if it is worth it. However good luck with your game creation. Feel free to come back when you might have a demo or a game for me to play :D ?
@@UTUBMRBUZZ Just realized im not on my main account. LOL Woops, o well. I'll just subscribe to ya on both accounts. Anyway, I absolutely will come back with a demo, If I get something going <3 I LOVE that this engine is so old, tbh. I'm honestly kinda sad i didn't find it when i was younger, I should've looked harder lol. Also i'd absolutely love to see an updated version/a rewrite of this engine/game. i'd love to see all the new features that could be added :) it'd be like a sequel to the retribution engine. Either way, it seems like a VERY solid engine to make a retro shooter in. I'm super excited to use it!
