Thanks for sharing this gem
The missing letters on the door fit perfectly
Kronk Gym is long and gone over fifty champions came out of that Gym. Thomas Hearns was one of the greatest of all time champions that loved this gym and it broke his heart to hear that it got burnt down years later. I lived in Edmonton Canada back in the early eighties when Thomas Hearns was in his prime and bunch of boxers from the Kronks gym visited out kick boxing club at Frank Lee's gym in Edmonton. During the time when Mohamad Ali did an exhibition with David Semenko a defense man for the Edmonton Oilers who was a tough guy on the ice. I met Mohamad Ali then and He was a great guy very kind and gentle not like some who I met like Trevor Berbick who was a miserable jerk who you couldn't approach because of his mood was up and down like a yoyo. Who later was found dead in a Church courtyard in Jamaica I heard his cousin had taken a hatchet to his head. That is brutal, no one deserves that but who knows what might of happened to spur that kind of retaliation.
❤
Anyone who doesn't like this video is weak piece of poop
Legendary gym
Great
I'm a product of Southwest Detroit band Kronk Old Man Walt use to just sit and cratiuqe lol thank you Milton Mccurry for training and believe in me
Walk down them basement stairs it was like no other gym in the city something about it !!! 💯💯💪🏆
This gym was great .as a young man I would box here in which took me off the street.i learned a lot here.and many great fighters fought here.
When Emmanual Steward was alive, there should have been a 'When They Were Kings' type of documentary/theatrical release about the glory days of the Kronk Gym; one that even the casual sports fan would really enjoy. The local angle, the same trainers training boxers from children to champions, all the fame, and even the tragedy (Gerald McClellan, Bernard Superbad Mays, DuJuan Johnson). A definite should-have-been. I don't think it would work without Steward.
@4:46 Left hook!!
Emmanuel steward said I quote "out off all the fighter's I trained Gerald McClellan had the baddest streak out them all"
So true
This is a real boxing gym unlike some fake commercial gyms today
Did you shoot this footage?
Yes I did while I was training at Kronk.
Grew up in the UK watching the great American fighters of the 1980's and the Kronk gym was the name that stuck with me the most, from the era, iconic boxing name.
That’s awesome I live 10 mins away from Kronk gym on Detroit’s west side
Thanks those were the days, "Kronk Motherf***er".
Anyone here from Joe Rogan podcast?
Nope...I'm here from Wilder Fury II
More Champions came out of Kronk than any others gym🥊 Happy to be apart of history Detroit Kronk boxing gym
Yes you are right, never going to be any gym like that ever again <3
@@helgarisoy1726 TH-cam K9BOXING Subscribe Brodie I'm the last original World Champion out of Kronk
It was great seeing what the old gym looked like especially the sign turn up the heat seems like yesterday
I have a rescue horse named Indy I didn’t name her
It’s amazing, no fancy equipment but so many world champions
I've always said it. There's nothing like a good old fashioned men's only boxing gym in the middle of a bad American inner city neighborhood. That's where a man can get real workouts and concentrate on real work. Not like today's bullshit coed gyms where men get easily distracted by broads in yoga pants.
FACTS
Straight facts
true
"I've always said it..." isn't much of a recommendation, a bloated boast maybe (in my humble opinion....).
AMEN
The Last original World Champion 2 come out of KRONK Cornelius K-9 Bundrage
The best gym ever. Emmanuel Steward was one of the greatest trainers ever!!!!!!
Emmanual Steward was the Bill Belichick of boxing. I remember after Evander Holyfield lost to Riddick Bowe, nobody thought he had the faintest prayer of winning the rematch. Holyfield took on Steward as his trainer and beat Bowe convincingly. Lennox Lewis and Vladamir Klitchko had failed the couple of times each stepped up in class. Then they trained under Stewart who made them into what they became. I don't know that Emmanual Steward wasn't the single greatest boxing trainer in history.
So sad that it’s gone
Manny Stewart R.I.P the greatest trainer/ manger/role model/ he was God sent to Detroit he had a lot of kids because he was a father figure to most of those children who became productive members of society thanks you God for Manny Stewart R.I.P!!!!!🥊🥊✌
greatest gym ever
Emmanuel built an empire. He was a nice guy. He took me in in the amateurs in 86. He said I was a pro, not amateur. He approached me after I fought Tourique Fikes from Kronk. One of worst racism experiances of my life because of alex shear. alex shear is dead. They say to say nice things about the dead. Well, alex alex shear is a dead piece of shit. There. That was pretty nice.
Robert Stroud Kronk the best boxing gym ever
Defienetly an all time great. Emmanuel knew what he was doing
I trained here in 2002 and 2003 when i learned to box.
best years ever in 2002-2003
the great man behind the great boxers
gman Trust me I know I won 2 World Titles
