I think council can grant for sucha adaptation if you apply,it might take time but at the end you get something,I know someone who applied for grant and they sorted the house according to their child needs, this video was amazing, thumbs UK to the guy who made it,well done keep it up mate

Wow this is amazing. The Police station bedroom would definitely give me nightmares. I like the flow of the house especially opening up the living room and kitchen. Personally I’d feel more secure all on the one level if there was a fire or other emergency. I like the sound and light features. I can see a lot of careful planning has gone into this project. Would be interesting to know how the family is getting on now.

At least someone is thinking for the disabled, O' wait it's not cheap to build, run and maintain right... Oops!

If you would support visit-ability, then u wud save hundreds of thousand of dollars. Front end cost are ZERO on making basic access in housing. 100,000 folks would be saved from nursing facility bcuz nbr 1 reason? They get disabled and cant get in or out

Good point. I think it is amazing that even units built with government funding or tax breaks for low and moderate incomes are frequently town houses and places where the ground floor is devoted to the parking garage. They might have one or two units that a wheelchair user can even enter, then they put adaptations for sight and hearing impaired people in the same unit.

I support adaptations to assist the disabled but I find some of this troubling. This machinery is very high tech but impractical, not to mention the fact that it would cost a fortune to buy/install and that the electric bill would probably be a thousand dollars a month. A wiser, less expensive choice would probably be to move to a single floor dwelling with less techy adaptations, especially if one is completely paralyzed. Saving the costs of elevators, etc., would help in providing other indispensable services, like human beings. We need to learn to live more simply, more humbly and more realistically in this country so that if misfortune befalls us, we are better able to adapt. Multiple story homes are full of dangers to an aging or disabled population. A member of my family is making expensive changes now to a three story home instead of moving to one level, which would solve many of the problems. With disabilities, I know there are often more complicated problems, but filling a home with machinery makes me wonder how homey it would be. I am really up in the air about these heartbreaking problems but look askance at filling a home with machinery. I think the homier a home can remain, the better the mental health of the person the adaptations were intended for.

Good luck finding those places, even in the USA let alone Great Britain and Continental Europe.
