If Anglicans are Protestants, what is it that they are protesting about?
Complementarian vs Egalitarian is an old tired argument that causes unneeded divisions. Obviously the TEC is egalitarian. Honestly, the scholarly arguments have merits from both sides if considered with an open-minded approach. I see this as more of a matter of preference similar to C. S. Lewis description in Mere Christianity. Christianity as the Hallway in a Great House and the rooms representing the various denominations. Yes, basic orthodoxy is pre-requisite--creedal, but there are different expressions and interpretations because God is by nature incredibly diverse as even nature expresses vividly. CS Lewis: "The hall is a place to wait in, a place from which to try the various doors, not a place to live in. For that purpose the worst of the rooms (whichever that may be) is, I think, preferable. It is true that some people may find they have to wait in the hall for a considerable time, while others feel certain almost at once which door they must knock at. I do not know why there is this difference" You have your reasons for being comfortable in the door and the room you have chosen. You feel comfortable with your choice and you would not feel comfortable in the door labeled TEC. More than likely most Episcopalians will love you anyway. You disagree with the TEC's position on many issues. But people who enter the TEC door, I assure you, hear, learn and recite the creeds, say the Lord's Prayer, hear the Bible as the inspired Word of God, pray, sing, chant, stand, kneel and are offered the Eucharist. There are gay couples with children. There are CIS couples with children. There are singles, there are divorcees, conservatives and liberals and God knows we're all sinners who look for the same repentance you probably seek.. That probably makes you and others uncomfortable. The TEC has an open door for these families and persons. Gay marriage is legal in the US--there are families formed. Would you propose splitting these families up to keep your doctrinally pure position. Or do these children become the modern day leper. The TEC door has a warm fire and a comfortable table for these people--and explains that up front--you have your own door and your own traditions and values. We're in the same great house and share the hallway. Perhaps you feel the TEC is the worst of the rooms--so be it-let it go. Or perhaps work on the log in your own eye--
As a Copt, I respect your decision. I also respect on how you went through each of your critiques with love in a non-judgmental way. I wholeheartedly wish for all churches to unite one day. Pray for me.
Just happened to come across your page. Please consider the following: Women cannot be deacons or priests....Period! You seem to be rationalizing along the fact that some dioceses allow it and some do not. Or there aren't that many women priests. Any Masses celebrated by a women are invalid, Any absolutions granted by a woman in confession are not valid. In short anything that requires a priest is invalid if a woman does it. The Episcopal church thought they could get away with just letting women be deacons, and so did the C of E. Now women are priests and bishops in those churches. The fact is that the people in the ACNA NOW are people who tried to sue us in the seventies over refusing to accept the ordination of women THEN.. Which as we said at the time, would lead to the gay bishops, gay priests same sex marriages and the like.. I doubt very much you will ever be in communion with the Continuum, or the Roman Catholics as the ordination of women will be a deal breaker for any group that even remotely calls itself conservative. Yes, the ACNA is better than TEC. But that isn't saying much. Also, I looked at the prayer book you are using, and it looks a lot more like the 1979 than it does the 1928. I don't mean to be mean, just trying to give it to you straight. In about 5 to 10 years time, you WILL have a woman bishop.
But what did the church fathers say about mixing patterns between your tie and shirt? 🤔
I thought we were done with this controversy when we left the Episcopal Church.
How would a Presbyterian church go about plugging back in without having to abandon its doctrinal standards (westminster confession of faith and catechisms)?
On the matter of apostolic succession, how would Presbyterian denominations go about obtaining bishops in order to establish jurisdictions that subscribed to the Westminster Confession and Catechisms?
Church history credobaptist here. Why do anglicans have beautiful things? Because of history. Small C conservatism and lack of evangelization(in america) does wonders in the face of modernity when it comes to beauty.
Merry Christmas!
us lutherans also have everything explained in this video
I'm delighted to hear that you mentioned Yarvin.
I found that only through receiving the sacraments of the Catholic Church can you achieve grace. The Catholic sacraments are the only ones in communion with the Vatican. The other denominations can’t offer this and grace can’t be achieved.
What an awful title 😂. I hope that's meant to be cheeky lol
A wise Anglican once said that the Church should always be open to reform and revision, but he wisely said “you know reform has gone too far when you start to destroy beautiful things.”
I've been wondering as reformed if we believe original sin has anything to do with the baptism along with its washing away sins

Calvin Robinson is a larper who was denied ordination for his fringe views
Aren't Anglicans just Church of England without an English King? An English King who chose to schism from Rome because he couldn't get a divorce and then decided to behead woman after woman instead of going through the headache of more divorces? I don't understand this revisionist history of a Celtic Catholic Church is?
40:20 if the three legs of the stool are not equal, then we probably should not be using a three-legged stool as a metaphor here. The image itself does not go back to the Reformation, it's a lightweight interpretation of Richard Hooker's methodology, and usually not employed by our more orthodox historians and theologians.
Wow I've been Anglican for decades -- maybe longer than youve been alive -- and I've never heard a more ridiculous opening statement regarding the perspicuity of Scripture. As much as I love and enjoy them, I certainly do not need the church fathers to make a case for infant baptism. And neither do the Presbyterians and Lutherans.
I definitely recommend “It Takes a Church to Baptize” by Scott McKnight
I converted through natural revelation, reading my Bible and going to church and I'm fully converted. Full attendance, prayer and confessions.. I have not been baptized in my life and am currently asking my pastor to help me do it. I feel the holy spirit throughout the day and I feel a full change of heart. I'm not sure if I believe that baptism is required to feel it. But I believe it's needed. I'm Anglican btw.
We just started going to an Anglican church a few months ago. The daily office has been amazing because I have to confess my sins often during a day It made me more aware and humble.
The Anglican "Church" is the "True Church"? What drugs are you on?!
You already find it in acts 15 There is a council
I’m an orthodox TEC, standing with the Lord Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. I am recently returned from a pilgrimage to Canterbury England, and let me tell you doubters out there that I am 100% a 1 Corinthians 15 Christian through the mercy of God and the resurrection of Jesus Christ we must heed verse 58 - be firm and stedfast always abounding in the work of the Lord. Let us be the reflection of Jesus Glorious Light in this dark and wicked generation. Grace and peace to you. Never give up. You are called to faithfulness not a majority. See Jeremiah 17.
jesus described his baptism as a work of righteousness (matthew 3:15) and paul said works of righteousness don't save (titus 3:5). the lord's supper is literally just the passover. you're working for your salvation and not submitting to the righteousness of god.
As a committed Arminian, I disagree with much of Ussher's theology, but I think he was right about his synodical take on the episcopacy. The subsidiarity is genius.
Im not a fan of John MacArthur as a Pastor. But Grace Community church which he leads is a Non Denominational church .He has Pastored there since 1969 . It is not a Baptist Church.
The ACNA has only been around since 2009. Yet they are top tier😂
You equate Catholics with Methodists on you tier of church rankings. Methodists Fractured over supporting LGBT Marraige and Gay Clergy. They changed the Book of Church order to do this. They lost over 7,600 churches to disaffiliation. And this created the new Global Methodist church. They largest group of Methodists outside of the USA are in Africa. They are leaving ove the LGBT issue. To Put Anglicans over Catholics is hilarious. Catholics don't practice what Methodists do with regards to Sexuality. They also don't allow Female Priests which the ACNA does.
The ACNA is hard to take Serious as a Denomination because they are tiny 128 thousand plus members. As of 2023 they had 84, 794 attendees on a weekly basis.
The discussion of the three big headings: daily office, Eucharist and private prayer is really great with lots of insightful nuggets. Thank you!

I am a non-Catholic Christian who wonders why most other non-Catholic Christians, including this video, consider themselves to be Protestants. What is it that you are protesting about? I feel that the term is obsolete and that we should no longer use it due to its negative connotations.
8:35 That's why Catholicism is more coherent. God gave us the Catholic Church and it has the sole ability to interpret scripture through the lense of Tradition. Protestantism has no coherence in the end.
1. Galatians 1:18 (Cephas) "Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and remained with him fifteen days." Context: Paul recounts his visit to Jerusalem after his conversion. He emphasizes that he met Peter (Cephas) and stayed with him for a short time, likely to connect with the early church leadership. 2. Galatians 2:7-9 (Cephas) "...they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised..." Context: Paul refers to an agreement among the apostles that Peter (Cephas) would focus on ministry to the Jews, while Paul would focus on ministry to the Gentiles. This highlights their distinct but complementary roles in spreading the Gospel. 3. Galatians 2:11-14 (Cephas) "But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned..." Context: Paul recounts a confrontation with Peter (Cephas) in Antioch. Peter had withdrawn from eating with Gentile Christians out of fear of criticism from the "circumcision group." Paul rebuked Peter publicly for his inconsistency, emphasizing that it was contrary to the Gospel's inclusiveness. 4. 1 Corinthians 1:12; 3:22 (Cephas) "What I mean is that each one of you says, ‘I follow Paul,’ or ‘I follow Apollos,’ or ‘I follow Cephas,’ or ‘I follow Christ.’" Context: Paul addresses divisions within the Corinthian church, where some believers were aligning themselves with specific leaders, including Peter (Cephas). Paul seeks to emphasize unity in Christ rather than allegiance to human leaders. 5. 1 Corinthians 9:5 (Cephas) "Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?" Context: Paul defends the rights of apostles to receive support and travel with their spouses, pointing out that Peter (Cephas) and others exercised these rights. Key Observations: Names Used: Paul mostly refers to Peter as Cephas, the Aramaic version of his name, which means "rock." Only in a few cases is "Peter" used (e.g., in some translations of Galatians). Tone: Paul's mentions of Peter reflect both respect (acknowledging Peter’s role as a leading apostle) and critique (confronting him on his behavior in Antioch). This demonstrates the dynamic relationship between the apostles, especially in the early church's formative years. Total Mentions: Paul refers to Peter explicitly about 6 times across Galatians and 1 Corinthians.
Paul mentions Peter a lot as a person of deference.
How many Anglican bishops attended the first 7 Ecumenical Councils?
I do find this interesting! Thank you!
I was raised Catholic but poorly catecised, became evangelical then realized Lutheranism was the tradition which made most sense.
Awesome video!! Reading C.S. Lewis book Reflections on the Psalms as well as reading the Daily Office from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, have brought me closer to God. May God continue to bless you during this Advent Season!!
