Update on "Sir Rats-A-Lot" our 1951 Chevy F350 Dually & up n coming things @BareRoseGarage
Just a quick update on things to come as we are getting ready for the coming snow & winter chills.
We finally decided to put the door seals & ratchet shifter into 'Sir Rats-A-Lot" our '51 Chevrolet F350 Dually Rat Rod. Also some channel updates & hints to things that are coming for the 2025 Winter Build at BareRose Garage that will Keep the Metal Hot, and the fingers warm as the snow piles up outside.
Hope you enjoy, and look forward to seeing you all as we navigate these Rusty Waters of Rat Rod Fun in the Shop!

When and if you replaced the pump, what pump did you use, I can’t seem to find one with a arm like that and that configuration anywhere
@@JamesDillon-w5r that 1 is for a 1977 E350 with AC, or motorhome. They are a bit tougher to find and I had to go to Napa Auto and set the old one on the counter to get the right one. The standard parts stores only show listing for the F Series without AC Hope that helps & thanks for watching!

I guess I’m doing something wrong, owned my 55 for 53 years now and I don’t think I’ve ever hit my head, but then there’s so much room in the engine bay I just get up in there to do my work 😊
I bought an 84 truck that I was told has a 327. haven't been able to get back to see the block casting number, but the heads and carb are early 70s. I was told the engine was from a 69 nova, but I was also told it had the camel hump heads and it doesn't, so who knows until I open it up what it is.
Old mobile homes are a gold mine to get them
I like them they can haul weight plus there free to haul off. Use them till they blow out
500 cadillac has a good 60 more horsepower than a 460.
I just don't do dealerships. I find guys like you and try to convince them to sell me their " junk". I use the word " junk" in the most endearing sense of the term.
This applies to a SB 302, with the same 4" bore, stroke is 3" 283.

Just curious if an 1966 ford f250 cab and front end would fit on an s10-15 frame?
I thought it was something with the center cam bearing?
@@kylekenan2321 there is a center oiling kit you can get for these that does help a lot, but there is nothing easy about pulling & installing the cam in a Y Block with Too Hat Lifters.

Cheap brake upgrade. 99 and up Blazer has dual pistons calipers. 98 and up with manual and 4.3 has 8.5" rears. ZR2 have 8.5" also. 2WD rears = 54.5", 60" = 4X4, 63" = ZR2
96 and up with the 4.3 in 4X4 has the 8.5 rear end , not sure about 2 wheel drive , but I can tell just by looking at them , I got a book on them and 5 S-10 Trucks

Not sure, these things aren't that common anymore. You might try John Wilburn ( @johnwilburn ) here on youtube. John specilizes in the 904 transmissions and is a great guy. He might have one or know someone that does.

That's what we did back in the 70s .Them camaro's freaked out to.
I’m rebuilding a 1969 Mach 1 390 4spd right now, and my client wants EVERYTHING original….no replacement (and reliable) Edelbrock nonsense for him!!! I’ve grown to really dislike the way Ford would grab any old part off the parts shelf during line assembly, anything that works, and this is one of those “it might be this, it could be that” parts. Sometimes it’ll be from a truck, other times a completely different car/engine. Not to mention this 390/4spd combo is about as common as a 3-legged buffalo nickel. Thanks for the thorough detail and thoughtfulness to put this together! You made my job quite a bit easier, as I haven’t done one of these in about 30 years.
I have a 65 gmc 1000 wanted to do a ls and 4wd with i thought 98 to 01 s10 4x4 would work best cut and extended for longbed but have been told need 82 older k10 frame you showd a 66 but only mentioned c10 frame is s10 to narrow
Thanks for watching man. The K10 is perfect for that swap. The frame on a C is actually the same as a K, I think that is why GM bolted in the 2wd front crossmember and front suspension.... made it easy to use in all models. But to keep it simple find a Donor 4x4 from those years and you will be rolling in no time.
Some old school mechanics will take a 307 crank & put in a 350 block but you need to use 327 pistons to make a 327 or 331 if 0.30 over. Love the great content. God bless.😇
This is why I use, Gasoila Hard Set, to seal any and all gasoline leaks. You’ll need sandpaper to get it off your skin.
The C6 was the absolute best automatic transmission built they were tough and damn near indestructible, and it is true that they get warm, that's all I run in everything I have because like I said they are one of the best transmissions they are, and also true you do have to have the extra cooler, but I DO NOT RUN A RADIATOR FOR A AUTOMATIC IN ANY OF MY BUILDS, I run a radiator for a standard instead in everything I have, and here's why, yes a automatic radiator cools the coolant again but here's the can be and sometimes do happen problem, in the automatic radiator they're either a brass, copper, or sometimes aluminum, coolant tube in one of the water tanks in the radiator and this can cause one of two problems one being worse than the other, and over my years being a builder, a mechanic, and a master fabricator, I have seen it happen on occasions, the problems are that sometimes the coolant tube inside the radiator can sometimes get a hole in the tube itself, note that this will not cause the radiator to leak coolant outside of the radiator unless the radiator itself is busted, what happens if the coolant tube for the transmission gets a hole from corrosion or whatever the case you can have a mixture of coolant and transmission fluid mixing, meaning you can get transmission fluid going through the motor with the coolant, which is a mild problem but not as bad as the other problem, you can also end up with coolant or water going through your transmission and tourqe converter which can be bad very very bad and some of these tourqe converters can be really expensive, what happens if you get a hole in the transmission coolant tube, but you don't have radiator leakage, sometimes some people don't catch it before it causes damage if you have coolant or water going through they're transmission, and it can be hard to tell and hard for some people to catch, it can be just a little pin hole and be enough to cause damage, transmission fluid can be pulled into and through the motor, or coolant or water can end up going through the transmission/tourqe converter, it's not common but it can and sometimes do happen, now here's what I do and in the long run it's a cheaper and easier fix, and here's why, I mentioned earlier that I don't run the radiators for the automatic transmissions, I run radiators for standards, here's why, for the older Ford's original radiators for a automatic can sometimes be hard to find and sometimes the inlet and outlet is in the wrong place or on the wrong sides, and they can cost two to five times more than a radiator for a standard because they have the inside coolant tube, depends where you get it from, you can find the standard radiators a lot easier and cheaper from all these big car parts companies and most parts stores as well, and the benefits are they're way cheaper, also you can get a really high quality upgraded standard radiator cheaper than the original automatic, meaning more coolant in the radiator because you ain't got the transmission cooler inside the radiator taking up that much space, another benefit is that you're eliminating the chance of a mixture probably between the two fluids, instead of running you're transmission lines to the radiator and the little secondary cooler, you get a second bigger transmission/oil cooler and run you're line coming from the transmission to it and then the line from that one to the second cooler and then the line going back to the transmission back to the transmission, this way it's running through both coolers, if it was rated by BTU's the two transmission coolers working together would be more BTU's of cooling than the cooling tube in the automatic radiator because they're not surrounded by the hot engine coolant outside coolant tube for the transmission, I run a derali super cooler that also has a built on fan that can be used when I am really working my trucks, my outlet line from the transmission goes to the inlet on the super cooler then a line comes off the super coolers outlet and goes to the inlet of another bigger upgraded transmission cooler and then comes off that coolers outlet and goes to the return back to the transmission, two coolers plus a fan if needed, this does a lot in the long run, it cheapens the cost of you're radiator, eliminates the possibility of a fluids mixing problem, allows you to get a higher quality upgraded radiator easier and cheaper, also allows you're engine to hold more coolant, and you're transmission more fluid as well, meaning a longer circulation time for both, which means cooler engine, cooler transmission, and for some reason you have to pull you're radiator there's no transmission lines to take loose because they're going to the other coolers instead, not telling anyone what to do or not to do just telling what I do and the way I do it and it works for me

I have to buy to D0VE heads because mine is an 82 model but this guy is spot on. 600 HP is easy and reliable with these engines. If you have them machined to a four bolt main and use the 429 crank,rods and buy some 30over pistons you have a beast. I'm running the C6 auto trans and have a rear end with 411 gears. Looking for a roller to build a sleeper. Fun journey.
