    This is fantastic and I hope Mark and the group will continue posting these, especially as the Netrunner community has heated up due to the SU&SD video. I'm from the States, so of course I love Mark's accent but also his humorous yet cogent explanations. Brilliant!

    I just discovered this series and it‘s so helpful! I tried getting into netrunner on my own for so many months now, but was always somewhat confused and overwhelmed thanks to no prior experience in that type of card game, and no friends who are interested or already playing to help me through it by demonstrating and explaining stuff. This channel has been a godsend: Mark is great at introducing and explaining every mechanic, timing, and card content step by step, pointing out smart decisions in gameplay on the go and dropping new tidbits organically. Watching the others play while asking questions makes it much easier to follow along too! This Channel has definitely motivated me to head over to jinteki this weekend and finally try out my first game. Thanks for that!

    57:40 Dave, I think you would've loved the notoriously not-so-excellent Shaper Identity of old, called the Professor. :D He had only 1 Influence, but the first copy of each Program in your deck was free of Influence. So... Well, I'm pretty sure what to make of it. :D "A little bit of everything all of the time" indeed.

    So I mean I'll have you know, about the "optimal corp deck size", going to 44 or 49 is NOT a rule, even if it's conventional wisdom. :D I have definitely made smaller Corp decks in order to reduce the clutter if I have a specific game plan, mainly kill-combo decks and agenda rushes. You do 40 card corp deck to, yes, increase the agenda density in R&D, but also get you the agendas (your win-con in rushes) faster. You don't NEED to play the conventionally optimized version, it's not a MISTAKE per se. :D Just want to point this out. Great stuff once again!

    Okay, Dave, imagine this: the runner runs your HQ to access, like, 3 cards with Legwork. They are at 2 cards, since they think they can win. When they commit to Breaching HQ, before accesses you use Spin Doctor to reshuffle your single-splash Snare! into your R&D, and then use Atlas to tutor that into your HQ. Now do the math and laugh. It's the stupidest shenanigans, and it felt so grand when I got them with the combo once.

    Ok I never played netrunner or nisei and ordered gateway system and netrunner revised core set and combined the cards did I mess that up by mixing the 2 sets together.

    • @teamsquared7547
      @teamsquared7547 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Larry. If you're having fun at home then you can use whatever cards you like. If you want to get into Organised Play, then Revised Core has been replaced by System Update 21. Some of the cards are the same, but others have been rotated out. This page tells you more about it: nisei.net/players/supported-formats/

    I haven't watched all the videos all the way through - but what's the go with the 4th person calling in? Are they ever there or is it a joke that I missed out on...thanks for giving the NR onboarding videos a crack.

      Sera, the 4th person, is quite real! But she was having technical issues during this episode, so we were leaving the "door" open to join if she could.

    About the data packs, I'll have you know that I think the constant out-push of new cards with such a tight schedule was more of a hinderance eventually than a strength. I for one, with our group, just couldn't keep up with the cards since even if we'd get to play weekly, there was only so much time in an adult's life to try out things, experiment... I much rather enjoy the Nisei's model, and I think it would've benefited FFG to take it slightly more easy on the releases.

    • @Bear-qs8ol
      @Bear-qs8ol 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I find it far less stressful to get my group comfortable with Nisei, than past netrunner. I quite enjoy the tight card pool, and lots of time to learn.

    • @teamsquared7547
      @teamsquared7547 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair comment, and I can particularly see it appealing to newer players. In the before times, I was lucky enough to attend events regularly, and appreciated the way the 'best deck' was constantly changing rather than a 'solved puzzle' as can happen with big gaps between releases. It takes all kinds.

  • @GameOfDroids52
    @GameOfDroids52 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rush and Fast advance are different in the way they score agendas. Rush puts the agenda in the remote behind gear check ice and tries to jam in the remote as many turns as possible. This strategy fails in the late game and is often backed by a kill combo to keep viability as the game goes later. Fast advance, on the other hand, tries to score without leaving the agenda in a remote during the runners turn. This strategy is more viable in the late game since HQ accesses are less guaranteed than remote accesses.

    Would love to see you trying out Vampire the Eternal Struggle as well if you ever get a chance! I love how both Netrunner and VTES have within a few years now gotten picked up by new companies, both of which are nailing it. :) Nisei's doing a fabulous job for Netrunner. VTES just now has gotten a new starter box by Black Chantry. Funny thing: I can't for the life of me be bothered with MtG, but both Netrunner and VtES are my lifeblood.

    Nice to see new people learning. I think some of the explanation could have been done in game. It's a lot for a player to digest up front. Very clear which of the two was a CCG player and understood the rules.
