How to fit a Hyundai i30 towbar - GD 2011-2015
If you are handy with tools you can probably fit a simple tow bar. However, there are some peculiarities of how to do so with different makes and models of cars. This demonstration is for how to fit a towbar to a Hyundai i30 2013 GD (diesel). The rear end of other Korean and Japanese small car models of similar age will have similar construction features, so this video should help with other vehicle makes and models too.
Please note this this fitment is for everyday light trailer use. If you intend to be towing caravans or commercial loads you should have the towbar professionally fitted.

How to fit manual cam chain adjusters tensioners to Hyosung GT650 or GT650R or SV650. I include a check of the cam chain timing in case people accidentally spin the cam chain over the cam sprocket teeth. I recommend, though, that it is best practise to mark the cam chain with a scoring tool against a mark on the cam sprockets BEFORE you remove anything else. In general, though, you should be ab...

This goes back to about 1997 when my kids were obsessed with Star Wars The Phantom Menace. So I made a home movie of their favorite scene of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn fighting Darth Maul. I shot it on Video 8 and processed it using Ulead Media Studio pro version 2.5! All three kids are now adults. They have agreed to the upload of this video. I particularly like the finale: 'Train Anakin....

Haha! Yes it is a moderately involved job that took several hours. Should you do it? It depends how versatile one wants their i30 to be. I still have my i30 and it has clicked over 280K and still going strong, so well worth the effort for me. Others change their cars more regularly so not really worth it if you don't plan to get at least a few years out of it. I'd encourage you to have a go at yours. It is certainly doable and give you a sense of satisfaction.

@@sarcasmo57 I was initially worried about pulling off the rear bumper, but it is very durable and flexible and wont break. I would have no hesitation about pulling it off now. Similarly the tail lights seemed like they might break on removal, but if you watch my video at that section you will be fine as long as you remove all the bolt and pull it in the correct direction. A 2018 model should come off even easier. I'm not sure the Accent is completely the same, but should be almost identical. All the best with whatever you decide.

Great video, but just something that sort of jumped out, as an engineer, in the building blocks of learning it was always explained that the ONLY TIME you put a Bolt in upside down was because there was no room to install it the correct way ie Always Facing Downwards in case the nut became loose and if you had no option but to install upwards then ALWAYS install a Lock Nut, see 9.17 I have to say that having watched the video it soon became apparent that it was a pretty skilled job and not one for me, I would be just to scared of scratching my rear panel or snapping off the fixings. I have an sv 650 1999 (38k) . I use it to commute to work 5 days a week. I've had another camchain tensioner fail on me . On both occasions I was slow speed . The first time it happened the camchain came half off the exhaust cam sprocket on the front cylinder. The second time (the other day) I hit the kill switch as soon as I heard the rattle. Both tensioner failure's where on the front cylinder. I've come to the conclusion that the front cylinder tensioner cannot get enough lubricant due its vertical mounting position . The lack of oil is causing the spring inside to rot away and eventually break. This rotting of the spring has been speeded up by having water in my oil . The water is caused by the engine getting hot and cold two times a day and sweating inside . I am guilty for not changing my oil and filter often enough. To try and cure the problem I will change oil and filter more often and periodically put some oil into the back of the tensioners by removing the m6 bolt . The tensioners don't need to be taken out to oil them . Note that If your tensioner springs are already corroded, adding oil may unseize them and cause a failure !
