When you speak publicly, speak to explain the subject matter that you are there to speak about, rather than to read off a piece or paper or to speak from recollection of words you have memorised. Your audience will be better engaged, and you will take a lot of unnecessary pressure off yourself that would otherwise impede your confidence.

If you are prepared well with good structure, organisation and substantiation of your material, you can address your audience with surety about what you are there to deliver, and hence, be able to do so with confidence.
