"I'm So Blue" (from Follow That Bird)
From the 1985 film SESAME STREET PRESENTS: FOLLOW THAT BIRD
Big Bird, having been birdnapped by the Sleaze Brothers for their FunFair, is painted blue and dubbed the Blue Bird of Happiness.
Joe Flaherty shines as Sid Sleaze, particularly in this scene. I don't think he's ever radiated such beauty in any other role, even though he was supposed to be a villain. Shows what a tremendous method actor he was. I've always expressed my wish to have been an extra in this scene.
All credit to the Children's Television (now Sesame) Workshop, Warner Bros, and the creative team who made this movie possible.

I look at a show like Schitts Creek, a love letter to that whole Canadian Second City troupe, and I get sad knowing John would have been a beautiful addition to that show. It’s a perfect show, but imagine… Because even in the brightest light, John would somehow make it brighter.

John candy was a wonderful human- generous with his time, his humour, his wit. He was my dads favourite- I think partly bc John many things my dad admired- funny, humble, kind, encouraging, proud of his roots and a lover of football. What makes it more tragic is how young John candy was when he left us and how much he accomplished while he was here. My dad left the year after John, and was only a few years older. But when John Candy died, my dad was visibly upset and said “what a great man.. great Canadian. Damm.. “
