Is the dirt around the rock wall used in the mortar mixture your making, or is the brown dye added to regular mortar mixture?
No , just a damp day , took pics in-between showers . The earth was dug up and raked to the finished stone to tidy up

where abouts in the country is that wall its in a village or town by looks of things I would go to look at the stone / style of it if not too far away I'm in North kerry

What we here in the States called a "shadow joint". Basically looks like the stone is dry stacked but mortar is used primarily as a filler. I didn't notice any wall ties in the unfinished walls coming off the block. Just saying.
Wall ties are added as I progress
@@craftstoneworkstonemason5985 I get it. I found that if I layed the block or especially if it's wood framed I'll put the wall ties in the block for instance and leave them "long" by just bending the wall ties so they just "hook" the block, look like the letter "J" upside down. That way I can get them into the stone. If they happen to be a little long I just bend them back on themselves. No having to drive nails into the joints, etc. With the wood frame, all the wall ties as far as I figure I'll be able to stone that day and a little more so when driving the nails I'm not shaking the wall and the joints remain the way I intended . Not saying my way is "The Right Way" but for me it works.
It really depends on what mood I find the day 😂😂
